Post your rookie drafts - 2019 (3 Viewers)

I guess most of my drafts are usually early, right after the NFL draft. This year they've been spread out and it's been interesting to watch the movement. The "I know talent, draft position doesn't matter" crowd seemed to dominate early but as it's gone on things have falling in-line with the real draft, more and more. Butler was going as high as top 3, now I just drafted him at 3.13 in a 16 team idp league. I'm guessing it's the brain-washing from reading all these articles. Most I've seen are about him not being able to catch or run routes.

Draft in progress, Non-PPR. I only had 2 picks, 1 and 6, and I'm happy with who I got. Really wish I had some later picks because there was lots of value with Henderson at 16 and JJ at 19. I think Irv Smith was the biggest reach, but only if Kyle Rudolph stays in Minn for 3+ years.

  1. Josh Jacobs

Who is the best value at around 1.05 as of now? 1.02 & 1.03 had their clock expire so 1.04 is up & I have 1.05. Jacobs went 1.01. I'm not sure who to take. I need RB depth & a backup QB (To Goff), but also maybe trading down is better? Hmm..

Take Murray. Thank me later.
I took Murray at 1.05 where I only had Big Ben (16 team)

Surprised to see Fant go so high and Hockenson so low. Hardman at 2.1 seems very high with Hill back.

I see Mecole Hardman is still being brutally over drafted.
He’s a freak athlete who is still learning the WR position, and paired with Mahomes for the foreseeable future.  Not to mention Hill could be off the Chiefs in the blink of an eye next time there is an incident.  I’d rather take my chances with him over guys like JJAW, Fant, etc.

The "Hock" at 1.01 is wow.

Can we get some explanation/context to go along with this stunner?
I think most of us were surprised as well. He only had two TE's:  Charles Clay and Trey Burton, so maybe that had something to do with it?

@Dr. Dan and @cap'n grunge are both in the league I linked above....

A few thoughts:

With Hockenson and Kyler murray going in the top 6 it allowed value to slide....I don't love Metcalf, but at 1.09 I couldn't resist.

AJ brown at 2.04 was last of a tier for me.

Boykin, Dionte Johnson and Hakeem  Butler all should of went much higher IMO, over Lock/Hasksins , Sternberger and Snell.....I tried to trade up but to no avail.

secret is out on Preston Williams, highest I saw him drafted, back in May I got him in late round and in another league he was a post draft FA add for me.

Nice. What's your team name on there?
Relax. Although you and I probably disagree on a large number of our rankings.

In a rebuild mode- took the team over about a month ago or so.

Took Isabella over AJ Brown, which the only reason I did is because with the roster sizes I wanted to diversify (I own Corey Davis). Oddly enough I had the same decision in a different league- own Davis too- and went AJ Brown (got Isabella anyways).

Overall very happy for my 2020 outlook. I have a pretty big 2020 draft arsenal to use in trades or to load up.

One surprise was I didnt expect Hockenson to go so high, and I was actually potentially targeting him at 11. but it allowed me to get 2 wrs instead and I am confident in my te situation. I didnt care for any wrs or rbs who went round 3, aside from preston williams.

My first draft with this group and I learned a ton about them. excited to be in this league going forward

Lol relax? I'm not going after you.

  1. Josh Jacobs
  2. David Montgomery
  3. Miles Sanders
  4. N'Keal Harry
  5. Parris Campbell
  6. AJ Brown
  7. DK Metcalf
  8. TJ Hockenson
  9. Devin Singletary
  10. Deebo Smith
  11. Mecole Hardman
  12. Noah Fant
  13. Andy Isabella
  14. Marquise Brown
  15. Kyler Murray
  16. Darrell Henderson
  17. Hakeem Butler
  18. Irv Smith Jr
  19. JJ Arcega-Whiteside
  20. Damien Harris
  21. Terry Mclaurin
  22. Diontae Johnson
  23. Bryce Love
  24. Alexander Mattison
  25. Justice Hill
  26. Dwayne Haskins
  27. Benny Snell
  28. Darwin Thompson
  29. Kelvin Harmon
  30. Ryquell Armstead
I feel like anyone bolded (4-17, 19 and 20) could be interchangeable with anyone else in the draft and it would be fine.  I know there are a lot of Harry truthers out there, but his QB is 42 years old and he is currently being outplayed by an UDFA.   To me, that really takes a huge bite out of owning pick near the top of this list.  Even 2 and 3 are not all that enticing to be honest.  Its very close to one cluster of 15-20 guys that could go in any order in 1 QB, non PPR.

Those picks are going to hurt even more with no Hill suspension.  Brutal
Its dynasty.  Hill may not be there next year when he is due a new contract that the Chiefs may not be willing or able to afford.  Watkins is what he is. I own zero shares of Hardman, but I can still see the light at the end of his dynasty tunnel if you believe in the talent.  He may be playing with the best fantasy QB in the NFL for the next decade.

I'd love if Henderson fell that far in my league.  I like several of the dudes that are typically falling to my pick (1.12), but I'd sprain a finger if Henderson was available then.

10 Team Standard Scoring (exception being 1pt / 20 passing yards)

Superflex - 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 RB/WR, 1 QB/TE, 1 D, 1K

I flipped my team early last year, knowing I didn't have the pieces to compete.

Throwing in the towel early last year gave me a lot of draft pick's over the course of 2019/2020.  Mid draft I traded my 2021 1st for the 1.8 where I drafted T.J Hockenson.

My only RB is Gurley—traded Bell to try to win last year.  I’ve got picks 1.09, 2.06, 2.09

I keep reading more and more that Malcom Brown is the backup.

Do you still take Henderson at 1.09?  That’s assuming Jacobs/Sanders/Montgomery are gone obviously.

I'm not understanding still seeing N'Keal Harry in the top 5.  He has not looked that good in camp, his competition is outplaying him, Josh Gordon looms to possibly take over and his pre-draft ranking were good but not great.  Not to mention there is a QB transition coming when Brady leaves.

It seems the only positive is that Belichick spent a first round pick on him.  He has fallen down my board to around the 7-8-9 slot.
