I wanted Hall, didn't think Walker would fall to 1.03...of course had I known where he would go in the draft both NFL and my draft I would have done things differently I did that trade pre-NFL draft.Steep price. Did you need a RB that badly or did you just feel like the dart throws at 1.03 and 1.05 weren't as valuable? I'd personally have a hard time giving up that value, though in the long run it might have been worth it.
He's not that small. 5'11" 181. Tyler Lockett, Elijah Moore, Olave, Garret Wilson, Darnell Mooney, Dionate Johnson, Devonta Smith. He's small
WR that small in 1st round have a bad track record. There are outliers, plus no one is excited about Wentz/WAS.He's not that small. 5'11" 181. Tyler Lockett, Elijah Moore, Olave, Garret Wilson, Darnell Mooney, Dionate Johnson, Devonta Smith.
It seems like a prototype that the NFL (and fantasy) is valuing a lot right now.
Yeah I think you are right why people are letting him slip but I am not sure why him being small matters but Olave being small doesn't.WR that small in 1st round have a bad track record. There are outliers, plus no one is excited about Wentz/WAS.
He asked why he was slipping, that's my guess.
You know, maybe it should.Yeah I think you are right why people are letting him slip but I am not sure why him being small matters but Olave being small doesn't.
Garret Wilson is even smaller than Olave! These guys are all a similar body type/WR type IMO.You know, maybe it should.
Not a lot of talk about Olave size, but maybe there should be.

Not so sure about that. I prefer Bell over him.If WR was a need, I think Tyquan Thornton was the best WR available at that point.

Guessing maybe a Colts homer but not sure. Same guy took Alec Pierce at 1.12I don't play TE premium, but even so that seems a bit high for Woods (speaking as someone who traded up to get him in my draft)

If you have Cook higher than the player you took then you did yourself a disservice. The point of rookie drafts is to get a player that will become a starter. The best chance to do that is taking the player you have ranked higher. Forcing a position by drafting a lesser player hurts your chances of finding a starter.Birdie048 said:12 Team 1 QB /1-2RB/3-5WR/1-2TE PPR (TE Premium)

I passed on James Cook at 2.02 and 2.03 ... still shocked at myself... but I need WR not RB
I was reconsidering James Cook... so I made an offer for the 2.04 ... he is shoppingIf you have Cook higher than the player you took then you did yourself a disservice. That is both being nice and politically correctCook at 3 overall is, to put it mildly, interesting
I was going to say something, but felt I already made my feelings known about Cook and didn’t want to appear a hater. He has PPR appeal to me, just not 1st round appeal. That is both being nice and politically correct
People chasing RBs. Happens all the time. I get it in the 2nd round but not at the top of the draft. I'm in a 16 teamer with contracts and same thing. Pierce went 7th, Spiller 10th and Cook 11th. Guy at 14 got Pickens and 15 got Dotson because of the reaches. Williams fell to 10.I was going to say something, but felt I already made my feelings known about Cook and didn’t want to appear a hater. He has PPR appeal to me, just not 1st round appeal.
The only thing I can imagine is that that team also rosters Singletary and they wanted to lock down the Buff running game. Even then…too early.Cook at 3 overall is, to put it mildly, interesting

I had traded out of the first round for a 2023 1st and was kicking myself after. Would have loved to grab Williams at 10
I did not compare him to Rondale. That is a whole other Sproles-Wandale-Woodhead type.Devonta is 6 foot, 170
Dotson is 5'11", 183
Rondale is 5'7", 181
I would consider those 3 very different.
Every corner in the NFL has a height mismatch with Rondale so he has to get wide open to win.
There were 9 corners taken in the first two rounds of this year's draft. Only two were over 6 feet tall. None were under 5'11". That gives you a sense of how big you need to be to play receiver against those guys.
He's got speed, but even if he beats his man you can't really throw it deep to him when a safety who is six inches taller and just as fast is going to be there when the ball comes down. And he's really hard to target in the red zone when there's guys who are well over 6 feet everywhere you look. It's not a coincidence that his only touchdown as a rookie was a short pass that he took to the house.
He's better suited as a gadget player because he's thick like a running back but has speed and you have to respect him as a receiving target a lot more than a running back.
Devonta is a bean pole. He's tall enough has all the skill and physical talent but I don't think he can hold up to 80 or 90 catches in the NFL year after year without putting on some muscle. Maybe he fills out as he gets older but it's a concern.
Dotson and the other guys you mentioned are small compared to the classic big bodied receivers who win outside, but they're big enough to win some contested balls against similar sizes corners and fast enough that you can't match up most big corners against them. They're not thick like Rondale but they can stand up to the hits in the short and intermediate routes. They're not tall like a Mike Evans but they can win on the outside against smaller d backs.
The thing they can do though is move around pre snap and force the defense to tip their coverage. A guy who can credibly move from the outside to the slot and take a handoff on a jet sweep is a necessity in today's NFL but if that guy can run quality routes he's going to get a lot of targets against coverage mismatches. I see Dotson as one of those guys and apparently the commanders do too.
Once again I was quoting your good post, I wasn't disagreeing with you.I did not compare him to Rondale. That is a whole other Sproles-Wandale-Woodhead type.
Yeah Smith is thin but he's only an inch taller and sub 190. I don't consider that them too different in terms of body type.
the Dotson type receiver doesn't work well in the NFL, been burned too many timesHe's small
