Pot smokers (4 Viewers)

Ya, I'm definitely going to be leaning indica and cbd specific strains.

This is my prescribed company, if you wanna have a look @McGarnicle - the "streetnames" are all next to their nicknames, if you recognize any that you've had experience with, let a brother know My Provider

eta: Im absolutely gonna grab a bottle of the 10:1 oils. But I personally find MORE relief when I smoke.. but it definitely doesnt last as long
I put a lot less stock in the names of strains than how the buds were grown and cured. We're talking about a plant that is still mostly illegal that has thousands of named hybrids and lots of shady/clueless growers -- if I buy a pack of Green Crack seeds, am I 100% sure that the genetics are pure and my plants will be identical to the GC I bought from my dealer last year?

If I were you I'd talk to the people at the shop about what you're looking for and give the buds a close look and smell. Then buy the smallest possible amount of the best looking 4 or 5 strains and try them out, one strain per day. Maybe one will stand out, but honestly, all the #### nowadays is insanely potent in my experience. If you're cooking with it or making oil (which I recommend for pain), just buy whatever's on sale and use 1.5x the recommended amount of herb for your recipe.

Reposting my oil recipe.

1/4oz. of herb per cup of coconut oil -- I only have access to premium bud. If you have access to mids or you know a grower who will give you their trimmings, you can pack in a lot more plant material, up to a half or even a full oz. of plant material per cup of oil. You can experiment with your ratios any way you like, just exercise caution as necessary with your consumption. You can always have a second cookie if the first one is weak, but good luck if you eat a cookie that's too strong and you're tweaking out like an idiot for 3 hours.

Your plant material should be ground as fine as possible.

Your coconut oil should be highest quality organic/virgin or whatever. Coconut oil has a much greater capacity to absorb the organic compounds from your plants than does butter for example. And it's a pure and delicious fat source that makes the best chocolate chip cookies you've ever had.

To maximize that absorbtion capacity, add 3 teaspoons of lecithin powder to each cup of oil. This step is really important in my experience.

But first things first: take your finely ground herb and place it in a pyrex dish. Cover TIGHTLY with foil and bake at 220 for 30 minutes. Turn off the oven and let it sit until cooled. DO NOT open the foil until it cools.

Add your coconut oil and lecithin to that cooked herb, as per the ratios mentioned above. Again, bake in pyrex and seal as tightly as possible. Bake at 220 for one hour, then turn off the heat and let it sit there until it's completely cooled. You've now started the process of baking the organic compounds from the plant into the fat molecules in the coconut oil. The lecithin you've stirred in has maximized that process. Now, freeze it for at least 8 hours. Freezing smashes up any trichomes that haven't already been broken down by the steps above. Then defrost, and again bake tightly covered at 220 for 20 minutes, again letting it sit until cooled.

Note that all of these cooking/freezing/defrosting/cooking steps have broken down your herb as completely as possible, until every molecule of goodness has been absorbed into that delicious oil with which you can now bake some quality cookies/brownies/whatever. It's been so beaten up by heat and cold that you don't even need to strain it out of the oil. By the time you bake cookies with it for example, the texture will be like any normal cookies you've ever had -- no weird chunks of stems, leaves, etc. But, every last bit of potency from your herb has been captured by this process and is suspended in that oil, ready to get baked into your favorite treats. It's the perfect extraction from a bud/smokable form to a liquid/cookable form. In other words: BIOAVAILABILITY.

COCONUT OIL CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

1/2 cup coconut oil, softened but not melted
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
DIRECTIONS:

In the bowl of a stand mixer, use the paddle attachment to cream together the softened coconut oil, sugars, egg, and vanilla extract on medium-high speed until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.

Add in the flour, cornstarch, baking soda and salt, and beat on medium-low speed until combined. Fold in (stir in) the chocolate chips by hand until just combined.

Use a large cookie scoop (equivalent to 3 tablespoons) or a spoon to shape the dough into balls, and place them on a large plate. Cover with plastic wrap and chill the dough balls for at least 2 hours.

When you are ready to bake the cookies, preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Place chilled dough balls at least 2 inches apart on a parchment-lined baking sheet. (Or a baking sheet that has been covered with a Silpat, or greased with cooking spray.)

Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are just set. The centers may look slightly undercooked. Cool cookies on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling. Serve immediately or store in a sealed container for up to 1 week. You can also freeze the cookies for up to 3-4 months.

DIFFICULTY: EASY INGREDIENTS: BAKING SODA, BROWN SUGAR, COCONUT OIL, CORNSTARCH, EGG, FLOUR, GRANULATED SUGAR, SEMISWEET CHOCOLATE CHIPS, VANILLA EXTRACT

Coconut oil has a much greater capacity to absorb the organic compounds from your plants than does butter for example.
Clarified butter actually absorbs more according to a study I just read recently, but I use coconut oil and a espresso maker with ABV to make an infusion for cooking and it is super delicious.

Just realized I can buy quality trimmings for $25 a 1/4, which is no bargain, but whatever...nice to have the option available next door to Rite Aid.  I'll buy some trimmings tonight and make some butter with it using this tried and true method.

My mom has been asking about a pot cookie, so I'm hoping to surprise her tomorrow with a few she can try.  She'll be more apt to try one if I make it, even though she's a little miffed at me for hiding my herbal affinity from her for 25 years.  Now that she's suffering and has been advised to use it - not to mention LEGAL - she's all about it. :)

My weed guy appears to have gone MIA, and I'm finding it impossible to do my monotonous chores without my standard toke.  You know, house work, exercising, sexing my wife, that sort of thing.  Anyway, if anyone knows a supplier in the Washington, DC area who is looking to add new regular clients please send me a PM, and I would be forever grateful.  Thanks.

Not a weed smoker but I'm surprised there isn't more of a push to find not-so potent strain to "brand".  Kinda like light beer; we all know light beer sucks but it sells more than any craft beer.

I think there well be a lot of "returning smokers" to the industry as laws are reduced/removed.  Heck if it's removed from Schedule 1, I might even light up.

The problem is see is once adults who haven't smoked since college try, it might not be enjoyable if it's strong as hell.   For me personally, I smoked mostly crap weed in college (just like most other kids in the 90s); it was rare to get hydro or something.  I know I couldn't handle the stuff everyone seems to have access to now.

I think there's a market for "weed-lite" or something like that.

Well, when you walk into a shop here, they break every strain out by THC%, CBD and all sorts of metrics to help you find the right strain for you.  So you actually can choose a very 'light' flower to smoke.  In addition, edibles are going to be labeled by potency too and for some folks who don't want to or can't smoke it, you have no shortage of edible options ranging from 'knock you back into the sofa' to 'slight little happy buzz'.  A can of mints similar to Altoids, for example, contains little tiny bites of edible goodness....this way, you can control how much or how little you want to be feel the effects.

It already exists, Ron.

What you want to look for is something w little to no THC, but high CBD.

Any good dispensary can you hook you up with this. A very minor head buzz, but total body relaxation

you always need trace amounts of THC to work with the CBD for best results.   CBD on its own with zero THC doesn't act the same way.

I think so.  Any flavor that may be imparted by the herb is pretty much nullified though the coconut infusion (so you don't get a funky "burnt popcorn" taste of ABV).  It also gives a bit of a more mild buzz than unvaped bud, I think.  Edibles tend to knock me the F out.  So I prefer my recipe where I can have a couple and not be uncomfortable.  Also, when vaping, the most "body lock" active ingredients are released at the highest temperatures, so ABV has mostly that type of high left in it, and that is the exact type of high edibles seem to cultivate (maybe because it has to since it needs to be decarbd first, I don't know), so that seems to mesh well.

Why, what are you doing with your ABV?  I was thinking about getting some everclear and do some tincture maybe, but if there's a way to get another vapable concentrate, that'd be great also.

TBH I'm super lazy so when I'm downstairs and not near a trash I store it in a baggy.

I figured most of the potency was gone and it was useless.

What color is it?  If not black, there's tons of goodness left.  Even if black there's still likely plenty of goodness left.   It depends though, if you're really THAT lazy and have plenty of stash, it might not be worth it for you to save.  It's burnt gold for me though.

It might be worth practicing edibles with this stuff.

Stupid question...where does one get "lecithin"?

Yes, I got mine on Amazon.   A whole big can for maybe 5 or 10 bucks.  Def want to spring for it if you're using ABV.  I'd guess the can I got on Amazon is good for a dozen dozens or more of cookies.

Good posting.  Supposedly more independent banks are opening up accounts for cannabis-related businesses but it is slow.   The one bank you mentioned here in Oregon will only open accounts for dispensaries and not growers or processors.

Our CEO is one of the leaders helping cannabis businesses get bank accounts across the country.   I'm heading to the big MJ conference in Orlando this week, it will e interesting to hear and find out what's happening next.
Any update from this conference?

Myself, and a few NJ buddies are seriously considering opening a dispensary down South Jersey.

it was good.  we launched our new ERP software platform, but it seemed the show was largely centered around growing, cultivation and processing.  it was pretty well attended and the after parties were good at the hotel.   You should go to the cannabis conf in NY coming up in the middle of June.

If you open one up, hit me up and I'll set you up with a POS.

How do you guys justify being stoned around your kids?
It's easy.  Being high makes me way more patient so I can enjoy participating in activities she wants to do with daddy without getting bored as easily.  I particularly like doing art projects with her while high.

It allows me to better appreciate the world through her eyes and, in some ways, brings me down to her childlike level.  It's awesome.

Leafly is a GREAT site for anyone that wants specific strain info. Really, really informative.

With that in mind, I am going to focus on lower THC, high CBD strains for a while,  but since I do like getting ripped at night...  I wanna try some Super Lemon Haze.

Anyone got experience w it? Good for melting and laughing the night away?

Is her art better or worse when she's high?

I like me some Super Lemon Haze when I just want to Netflix the night away.  For me, its not an intense high but a deep, mellow high.

Put my order in, and of COURSE, it's on a long weekend. One extra day to get delivered to my place. Ah well.

Ordered a batch of CBD Kush, Argyle, Super Lemon Haze and Strawberry cough.

Can't wait to dip in. Oh, and I got myself a nice new Arizer Air vape to take it down with.

Never saw that coming.
It sounds drastically different than the medical marijuana system in California.  You can make up some bs symptom, and get a medical card on Venice Beach.  In Louisiana it sounds like you gotta have a serious problem, like aids, or epilepsy.  If there is anything in there about chronic pain, then the flood gates will be open (no pun intended).  If they hand weed scripts out as freely as they do for hardcore opiates, then it will be pretty much legal.

Great vape. Get extra batteries (and a charger) and a bubbler.  And domed screens.
Was thinking about the extra batteries, but mine comes with a battery charger, and you can also use the AC adapter to smoke. Is mine slightly different because it's a medical device?

I got mine for $130, which is an enormous discount, since it comes from a Health Canada regulated supplier. The screens, I can see the use of those... any you recommend?

They sell them for 199 Canadian.   I got one off eBay for $110 USD, so that deal you got isn't THAT great.   But yea, the charger is the unit itself.  You CAN use it while it's plugged in, but it's terrible for the battery.   The domed screens you can get on eBay.  Here is a real good guide on a good way use it and how to prep your herb for optimal use:

pretty sure there is a link in there to the seller on eBay with the screens.

awesome, thanks!

but what I mean is, this unit COMES with an actual battery charger... an external unit. This is why I think it's a different unit for medical cannabis users. as in, Tweed and Arizer struck a deal for volume/medical sales to include a charger.

It's a heating element that gets warm.  There's nothing that's going to be different from any other AA.  Arizer sells an external charger, but they usually list a charger coming with the Air, but it's just the Air.   If they send you the one I've seen you should get a couple extra batteries anyway as it has 2 slots.   Depends how much you blaze I guess.  But the added convenience of extra batts is worth it for me.

If if there was any difference for a medical unit it would prob be extra temps on the low end... But they are all the same (except for the improvements Arizer is always making) and have been approved for medical use.

ya, sorry... IM typing on my phone and got lazy. I didnt mean a "different model" for medical use... Just that it comes with an external charger so it's "different" for when it's sold my a medical company.

Anyways... neither here nor there. If I feel I need an extra battery, Ill definitely grab one. The guide was pretty awesome, thanks. seems consistent w what most have said, to use the white/green setting for best taste and draw

Ah, got you.  Be sure to "overcharge" your battery for a couple hrs if you want to get the most possible life out of it.   You can get 5-6 sessions per battery.   Maybe that will be enough for you, but it wasn't for me.  Especially when you get all baked and forget to plug it in.

If you guys can get your hands on Nordle/Argyle, I highly recommend it. low thc/low-med cbd indica strain

Super relaxing and euphoric. No anxiety, no stress. Just jello like relaxation.

Headed to Denver in 2 weeks and staying at the Nativ which is apparently weed friendly and sells weed coffees. I am only smoking here and there these days, but since it is legal there, I am going to have to be high the whole time. Any Denver smokers with thoughts or suggestions?
