Pre-season Denver vs San Fran (1 Viewer)

Courtjester

The Town Drunk
Well, I didn't see one of these, so I thought I would start one.

Really nice 1st drive by Denver--Cutler looked very sharp.

And Henry WOW!!! Some really nice runs. Broke tackles and topped it off with a TD.

Henry's fantasy stock is soring. His ADP will be locked into the first round after this drive. Not sure that I buy it, but hard to argue with what I just saw.

People were wondering why Henry and Walker got bumped up in the rankings. That first drive showed why. Henry tore up the Niners and Walker's one target resulted in a huge gain downfield.

He's not climbing up any boards...Flying is more like it. NEVER went down on first contact. He looked like an absolute stud.

Cutler hit Walker on a deep one for 20 something, and that scramble looked great, showed real guts taking it all the way down to the one.

Outside of fantasy, the offense looks amazing, the defense SHOULD look amazing. Superbowl contenders this year.

Very interesting to see how Henry was used in the Red Zone package inside the 10. Two shots with a great result.

I hope he's in for one more series.

I don't think there's any question Henry is the guy all over the field at RB this season. As long as he's healthy, they'll feed him everywhere. Mike Bell won't see the field unless Henry is hurt or needs a rest.

Both teams looked a lot smoother on offense than most of the week 1 preseason games I've watched. Niners bogged down at the 20, but looked nice up until that point.

Djax is indeed moving well, and Smith looks like he's throwing the ball very nice as well, but I still have low expectations for the 9ers passing game. Maybe attribute it to the lack of Gore, but the fact the Broncos have placed the kind of pressure they have on Smith in this game, I think he'll be hurried ALOT this season.

If he can stay healthy (big if), Djax could be a nice value where he's being drafted. I'm sure Smith will be under pressure as long as there's no Gore to worry about.

Tinyhands is looking good. That pass to Battle was a nice, quick read. I'm not sure if it was placed low on purpose, but if it was, it's all the more impressive.

I have to be honest, I'm not sure if the offenses are looking good or the defenses are looking bad. Some of both I think. Alex Smith does look like he's building on last year.

I think it's a bit of both, but Tinyhands looks more confident, decisive, and accurate. Mike Bell looks like he's running harder, faster, and with more authority. He's not going to beat out Travis Henry, but he might manage to leapfrog Sapp if he continues to perform well.

Henry looked great, but I wouldn't take too much from the 1st drive. The 49ers are sitting 2 of their 3 starting defensive linemen in this game. The starters are average, the backups are bad.

Any Canadians out there who were planning to watch the first quarter of this game, but are stuck watching a women's tennis match that will not end on TSN?

TSN talking heads keep promising to cut to the football game as soon as the tennis is over. Which is great, because we all know that in the first week of pre-season, you really want to focus on the second half of the games.

Argh...

Couple questions for the homers...

1. Did Veron Davis start, If so did anyone notice him.

2. Does anyone think Selvin Young will make the team?

or most likely practice squad.... I'm holding on to him in my deep dynasty.

Henry's runs didn't have much to do with SF's defense. That's the beauty of Denver's running system. It was the decisiveness that he made his cut and hit the hole. The very first play was a perfect example. There was no dancing around like Tatum or impatiently making the cut too early like Bell. He executed the cut and go to perfection. The second thing to take was Henry's runs at the goalline. He will be the GL back, without question. And Henry has a nose for the endzone and showed it. Not to mention that Denver didn't have 2 of their starting OL playing either (including Lepsis). Those few plays were enough of an indication of what's coming this year no matter who the defense is.

Henry didn't look extremely quick to me, but he was decisive and broke multiple tackles with EASE. Looks like he's gonna LIVE in the second level of the opposing defense this year.

I won't argue that Henry will have a great year, but I do think the size of that "hole" he hit had a lot to do with the 49ers D-line. Agree to disagree.

how is Thomas Clayton looking?
:pickle:
As a M-Rob owner I have to say that he is no lock for the #2 spot as hicks and Clayton look very good. Maybe its the vanilla defense but they all look good. No back has been given multiple back to back carries so its really hard to judge but as a group they look very good. Outside of San Diego this group looks to be up there in overall talent at the rb position.

M. Bell is running with alot of pop and explosion but still doesn't look like he could carry a seasons worth of carries. Is there something wrong sith him, after a couple of carries he looks exausted?

same boat - so ticked off.....went and cut the lawn instead and the f'n tennis was STILL ON when I was done.

Any Jason Hill sightings yet? I'm in and out of the game but don't think I've heard his name, right?
Just made his first sighting.... Dropped a one - handed attempt. Looked to have gotten by his name with ease. Even though it was a one handed attempt it looked very catchable and probably should have been caught.
