predictions that you're growing tired of making (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
Reading a couple different threads brought this to my thought process.

There's a few things most of us are looking at for next year, that we can either reply with every time someone makes a contrary prediction, or just let things go.

For me, there's two that come to mind immediately.

1. Washington has one of the best OCs in the game now. Definetly an offense to watch out for.

2. Pittsburgh will throw quite a bit more than last year. Not top 10 yardage, but enough to rid Ben of the "not a good FF QB" label.

I don't really want to get into arguments about each of these, or your predictions, just put it out there, and see what happens. At least for #2, the topic is discussed elsewhere.

What Say You?

I agree and posted this earlier about Ben:The Steelers will focus on the run first, but that doesn't mean they won't pass the ball more than they have the past two years (last in attempts with 358 and 379, of which Ben had 295 and 268). If you look back at 2003 and earlier you'll see that they passed a lot more - 533, 551, 454, 439, 535, 489, 466 - and even if Ben goes up to a conservative 400 passes a year he will likely be a top 10 QB.

Heck, if you prorate his stats to 16 games he would have been QB7 last year.

Here's an arguement that I find I'm having to make for the second straight season, and I'm really sick of making it.

Forget the names and the faces, and just remember one thing... RB Denver = stud. If a guy is getting 15+ carries a game in Denver, then he's a stud. End of discussion.

Oh, and SHANAHAN IS ONE OF THE MOST HONEST COACHES IN THE ENTIRE NFL.

If you want to tell me that Shanahan is very deceptive, you damn well better have some support to back up your opinion, because I'm getting sick of hearing people go on and on about how you can't believe a word that comes out of his mouth, when history has shown that you can, in fact, believe pretty much every single word that comes out of his mouth.

1. Frank Gore will not be the feature Rb in SF. RBBC

2. Denver does like forms of RBBC when elite Rb is not available. Value Rb pick from Denver has been a virtual lock to greatly outperform ADP.

3. Shawn Alexander may miss Hutchinson more than people think and is a canidate to fall out of the top 5 Rbs this year after a long reighn at the top.

4. Tom Brady is a elite Qb in FF as well as in reality.

5. Pittsburgh will pass the ball a lot more this year. Year 3 for Roth.

These are some hot buttons off the top of my head that have gone into dead horse status for me.

Vikings RBBC used to be but I think it merits new discussion now with the new coaching staff and offseason aquisitions that have been made.

1. Reggie Bush will not be the best RB of the top 4 taken in this draft.

2. Barring injury, DeAngelo Williams will be a better RB & FF RB than Bush.

3. At least 2 of the top 5 RBs taken will be busts.

4. At most 2 of the top 5 RBs taken will be studs.

5. Ron Dayne can succeed as the featured RB in DEN.

6. Vince Young will be a very good to great pro QB.

Baltimore will challenge for a playoff spot and Philadelphia will be in the NFC title hunt.

Shaun Alexander will not miss Hutchinson although I don't think it's fair to think he'll get anywhere close to 30 TDs, and Broderick Bunkley will be the DROY.

Yeah....every single year since they won it in 2000 the Ravens have been predicted to be a huge Super Bowl contender...and they never are. Now they're suppsoed to be making a playoff push next year after a terrible season.... :loco:

 Patriots down? Steelers down? Colts down? As far as last year goes you're saying Ed Reed being out six games and Ray Lewis being out ten didn't make any difference in them having a bad year?

If I hear how " Leinart" fell into such a great offense with all the players listed one more time I'm going to  :X .

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Specially when he will need a injury to Warner to play.If Warner does nt get injured , Leinart will spend the next two years on the bench .

Kurt if no injury will be one of the most productive QB in this offense ( James makes a big difference in pass protection and play action ).

what happened to tatum bell isnt he still a bronco if he is and i think he is then dayne will not be the featured back maybe something like a 70 - 30 spilt with bell getting 70.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Do you not read any of the other threads about this subject? You know, the ones where Mike Shanahan is quoted saying that he's going to limit Tatum Bell's carries? The ones where it's pointed out that Tatum Bell has never had more than 17 carries in a game? The ones where Denver's GM says that Ron Dayne is stepping into the Mike Anderson role, and they're going to try to limit Bell to 1-10 carries a game? The ones where we post situational splits that demonstrate that Bell's ypc drops by 2 or more yards after he gets a dozen or so carries? The ones where Mike Shanahan says lots of good things about Dayne and nothing good about Bell?I sure hope you have some reason to support your "theory" that Bell will get 70% of the carries, other than that he's really really fast in Madden.

Tired of hearing

The Redskins will be in salary cap hell next year (or the following year, or the following year, or "eventually")

I keep predicting

Sean Taylor will be found guilty of either a misdemeanor or nothing at all.

Tired of people saying that LT is worn down and more likely than other RB's to get injured. If you've watched the guy play you'll see that he doesn't take a lot of hard hits and goes out of bounds when it's the smart thing to do. His injuries the past two years were relatively minor (tore his groin in 2005 and an Oakland player purposely hurt his ribs in 2005).

So, what are the predictions here? I predict that SSOG will finally get his chance to make man love to Mike Shanahan and then on to the entire Denver roster.

"more likely to get injured" seems like bunk, but...LT didn't hit 100 yards in any of his last 5 games despite getting 19 or more carries in 4 of the 5. i'd say that's a bit of a concern (as much as a consensus top 3 player can have at least)

There might be a correlation between his poor numbers week 13 and beyond and these events:Tomlinson's bruised rib comes when Clark sticks knuckles into RB's side

and

Oben hasn't played since spraining a foot on Oct. 30 against Kansas City.

Sooooo tired of postings like these;

You are completely clueless and pathetic with your Favre bashing. So now it is Favre's fault Rodgers may not turn out  and his responsibility to develop QBs?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
You Favre haters are pathetic.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
The fact you want to blame Favre for Rodgers development is pathetic and shows you KNOW NOTHING ABOUT FOOTBALL.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Why not, the haters will chime in.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Please, you Favre haters really have to give it a rest.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I hope you guys get some professional help.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
If I never again see another post with the words "haters" or "pathetic" in it, that'll be too soon. :X :yucky:

Since we have no idea how Rivers is going to play... he's going to suck.

or

Based on what I've seen from Rivers(3 quarters in bad weather) I think he's going to fail in the NFL.

I pretty much shrug at either of these comments now. I used to inquire why they felt that way and have yet to hear a single substanative reason for either. One guy hates everything to do with NC State. That's probably the best reason I've heard thus far.

Super Sleepers

1) Ron Dayne

2) Smakon Gado

3) Cedric Houston

At least 2 of these 3 will hit it big in 2006 and maybe all 3.

Don't beleive who cares I'm getting tired of making these predictions.
