Oh come off it already. He's happy because his guy gets a chance at starting. What, is he supposed to be upset? Second, he's a Raiders fan.

I'm not sure that's exactly what he said, if I'm looking at the article cited.Kansas City Star article Nov. 3 by Adam Teicher

Larry Johnson hasn’t had one of his patented outbursts of unhappiness this season, but don’t for a minute confuse that with contentment.

Johnson indicated Wednesday that he’s still angling for what he perceives would be a better opportunity somewhere else. Ironically, his words came as it appeared that he would play more in the Chiefs’ game Sunday against Oakland at Arrowhead Stadium.

Priest Holmes, who left for California for a second opinion on the concussion that knocked him out of last week’s game in San Diego, did not practice Wednesday. He is not scheduled to return until after today’s practice is over. That increases the chances of breaking the harness of two series for Holmes and one for Johnson.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Priest Holmes is our starting running back,” Vermeil said. “I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if Larry Johnson had a great game if he did play, because I’ve seen it before. But Priest Holmes is our starter, and they know it and we know it.

“If Priest isn’t ready, then Larry will take it and go. Or, if Priest is just ready to be a backup, then Larry will take it and go.”

Holmes was listed by the Chiefs as questionable for Sunday’s game on the official injury report filed with the NFL. That means the Chiefs believe he has a 50 percent chance of playing.

Vermeil had a different opinion.

“I expect him to play,” he said. “I’m not a doctor. I’ve just been there before and seen these kinds of things before.”

Before he departed, Holmes did a conference call with Oakland-area reporters.

“We’re still waiting on the diagnosis of the images from the MRI, but I definitely know that once that’s done, we’ll have a better idea of how exactly I can proceed with the rest of the week,” Holmes said. “I’m feeling good. It’s one of those things where it’s not an injury where you can physically see and determine. It’s one where you have to go through the different tests, and then once that’s determined, they’re going to do everything to protect me but make sure I can get out there as quickly as possible.

“I know the doctors are taking every precaution and looking at all of the images from the MRI. Once that’s done, they’re going to give me the word: ‘Let’s get suited up.’ ”

Ok then what about this??

Priest Holmes missed practice again Thursday, to see a doctor in California.

There are serious doubts about Holmes' availability for this game. If he's out, Larry Johnson becomes a must-start against the Raiders. Nov. 3 - 9:28 pm et

It would have to be tomorrow AMs article since it talks about him not practicing today (Thus) ... I agree this is contra to what we have been hearing last 24 hours ...

The interesting thing DV talks about is an apparently good chance that Green does not start ... could be a rough Raiders week for me and my boys ...

Where does the link say that? This is all it says about Holmes.
Q: Any word on Priest’s medical checkup?

VERMEIL: “He didn’t go in to see the doctor until 2 o’clock this afternoon (California) time. He’s due back tonight.”

Yeah, you could be right. Some online sites have access to tomorrow's sports reports before they become visible on their respective websites.

He missed practice to see a doctor.. Don't you think that is a red flag?? Not only is it in another state but this late in the week...

Reading this thread just made the original question all that more confuseing! I play Larry regardless in a deep league with 2 flexs. Though a 2 rb league I am faced with a tuffer choice. L. Jordon, Martin, Droughns, L.Johnson. If Priest don't play my RB2 choice is easy! Unfortunatly this thread made my choice harder. I will be patient to find the answer but it wont be here! lol

I'm not celebrating an injury......I'm celebrating b/c the owner i'm tied for 1st with just spanked a 1st rd pick on him!!!!PH/Farve for Rudi Johnson (keeper) and a 1st.

Take it FWIW, but I work with a guy who's daughter talked to Priest yesterday (she works for his agent), and she says that Priest may be done. Aparently when he gets hit a certain way, he goes partially numb. She said he is pretty scared.

Don't know how true this is, but I do know that she talks to these guys frequently.
:goodposting: Regardless of how all this shakes out over the next day or two ... welldone, and thankyou for the heads up!

I agree:  Even though this board has its share of trolls, it's stuff like this that makes coming here worthwhile.

Priest did not practice today (Friday). Willie Road did not practice today, either.Roaf was involved in a car accident this morning. They said he didn't have any major injuries, though. He missed practice because of his lingering hamstring injury and his status for this Sunday looks very questionable.I just heard this on the local radio (810 whb).

Q&A WITH COACH VERMEIL

Nov 04, 2005, 2:27:32 PM

Afternoon

Q: Can you tell us a little bit about Willie Roaf?

D. VERMEIL: “Willie Roaf was in an auto accident this morning. Not injured. The car was injured and has been put on IR for the year – the car that is. He’s home. He’s fine. He’s been checked out by the doctor. It shook him up.”

Q: Will he be able to play on Sunday?

VERMEIL: “I don’t know yet. It has nothing to do with auto accident. It has everything to do with the hamstring.”

Q: Priest Holmes is still not back yet.

VERMEIL: “He’s on his way back.”

Q: Have you got the report from the doctor?

VERMEIL: “I haven’t but Carl (Peterson) and other people have talked to him. It’s doubtful.”

I think you are making more about this quote than you should.Vermeil is saying he is doubtful they have received a report back from the doctor IMO.

I agree with you about his post, but I also know you are hoping like Hell Priest plays.Edited to say that I didn't hear the report, so I don't know the tone used. I guess he could have been talking about Priest's status instead of the report.

Why would he say that it's doubtful if they have gotten the report back from the doctor? Either he has or he has not. There is not any doubt about that - it's yes or no issue. In fact, he said "I haven't." I didn't hear the tone or anything, but that looks to me like it's doubtful that he plays.

I heard this sound clip on the radio. Judging from how Vermeil said it, I'd say he's doubtful about Priest's status for Sunday's game; not about the doctor's report.

1) I have Priest and LJ in one league. Just LJ in another. Not sure why you think I am hoping like hell Priest plays. I am a KC fan and think it would be better for the team but would be surprised if you knew that. Can't believe I'm that easy to read.2) The reason I read it like that is Vermiel was asked the question: Q: Have you got the report from the doctor?

He then answered:“I haven’t but Carl (Peterson) and other people have talked to him. It’s doubtful.”

I am assuming the "him" is the doctor. So the answer is that Vermeil has not spoken with the doctor but Carl and other people have talked to the doctor about the report. It's doubtful they have received the report but Carl had spoken to the doctor.

I think Vermeil is articulate enough to answer the question he was asked without confusing it with Holmes injury report status which, by the way, is doubtful. This is how an interview works. A question is asked and then the person doing the interview answers the question. Typically, the interviewee does not just throw in an answer to another question without being asked.

I'm not saying Priest will play but my 6th grade reading comprehension skills interpret the article this way.

Edited to add: Vermeil may not know if they have the report back yet. Therefore, it is not a yes or no question. The doctor may have told them the report would be back around 3. So it could have been there but he didn't know.

Yes, a sixth grade education may lead one to that conclusion. However, a few more years in school would allow one to realize that the only reason the doctor's report question was asked was to get to the bottom of Priest's availability for the upcoming game. Vermeil, with his high intellect intact, recognized where the reporters were going and answered their second question before the reporters asked it, IMHO.Hearing the audio makes drawing my conclusion much easier. Vermeil's tonal inflections don't appear in print. Also, the fact the Priest officially showed up on the injury report as doubtful later in the day makes me firmly believe that Vermiel was alluding to Priest's status with his 'doubtful' comment.

RotoWorld.com and FantasyFootball.com have learned that Priest Holmes will not play in week 10 and is unlikely to play again this season.Sources close to the situation report that his career is in jeopardy. Larry Johnson will start in week 10 when the Chiefs visit the Buffalo Bills, and Johnson's value should be very high for the rest of season if Holmes shuts it down. If you can pull off a trade to get rid of Holmes or acquire L.J. before this news hits the masses, do it. Nov. 7 - 5:26 pm et

amazingly, this could actually be the best case scenario for those who did the LJ/priest strategy in redraft.

Who is LJs backup? I heard the FOX announcers say that the Chefs decided to keep on two RB's active and thus they exposed Gadp to other teams, since he was on the PS

I must say my prayers are with Priest and it is a tragedy that such a great player might end his career on this note. He is pure class and worked his way to the top.On the flip side, it does help my fantasy team immensely because he is now my #2 RB behind Alexander and replaces the ineffective Kevin Jones. I need LJ for the playoff run, I will most likely be 5-4 after the Pats game tonight and am in for a tough schedule which will decide whether I make the playoffs or not. Once again I don't wish ill upon Priest and am always sad to see this kind of stuff happen.

This couldent have come at a better time with all respect to priest hate to see his career end but LJ and LT carried my team this week and LJ's gonna have to do the same next week with LT out

From my experience rotoworld is fairly reliable...Oh and thanks to Syx for the info before anyone was saying anything. This board is an incredible resource.

Someone, and for the life of me I can't remember who, posted on this very board last week that he had inside info Priest was done for the year and for his owners to dump him immediately. He wouldn't say why or how he knew (probably to protect himself and source); which is even more reason to give this guy his props!Would that guy please post in this thread because I'd like to give him his props! You are the man dog and the perfect member to this board!!!Good looking out!
