Private Antsports Mock 14-team (1 Viewer)

i'll make his pick at 60min from when i just sent the email letting everyone know antsports was back up, so an hour from now. he came alive to make his last pick so i'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

ok i picked billy miller for him.  sounds fair, was highest rated TE left.
Good pick. Thought he was under the radar.I went with defense a little earlier than I normally do. But the last couple seasons I've played with defense by committee and that gets old. 2nd rated defense suits me fine. Plug it in and forget it.Looks like I'll be off the hook over the weekend. Take your time fellas! Have a happy father's day. Whether you just have one or are one.

I think I waited a wee bit too long for my RBs 4 & 5. I wanted Toefield to back up Fred Taylor, but I though I'd be able to take him at 11.14. I could have probably taken a defense later than pick 9.14, and gone RB4 there. C'est la vie.

I still managed to get two young backups in good offenses (Maurice Morris and Curtis Keaton) -- a strategy that has served me well in the past.

With the general lack of talent available, I decided to get yet another starting QB with no job competition. QBs always get hurt and I figure that Harrington was more valueable then a WR that would never see the starting lineup for my team. Chamberlain is a decent upside pick in the 13th and I think is basically a 3rd tier TE. So, with 3 picks to go I just need to get a kicker and select the best "talent" available.

Boy, do I wish I hadn't taken a WR with my #1. Even thought it was Owens, I felt like I was playing catch up the whole draft.I've never done a 14 team and the dyanmic really threw me off. This is easily the worst draft I've done. I'd do better next time.

well if its one thing this 14-team mock taught me, it's that our live draft won't need to be 16 rounds. i think i'll make it 14 or so, and allow for 16 roster spots and just let people take guys off the WW before the season starts to fill out their roster. boy, i can't imagine what some of the round 16 picks are gonna be.we might actually get to some of the QBs mentioned earlier in this post. :D

Hey tom, time to make a pick for EastBayFunk, isn't it?I know he's been rock solid on his picks, but it is round 13 and he's had a couple of hours.

Yeah, I think its about time fpr his pick to be made, maybe a D? He could be going for D, K to end the draft but I dont know what else he would draft at this point.

Yup ... looking over his roster, D and K are about all he needs.

A run on te's in the 13th?Stranger things have happened I guess.I have a couple deep sleepers plus the kicker for the last three rounds.

Several people, myself included, needed to get a starter at the TE slot, and since its not yet one of the last 2 rounds, I refuse to take a kicker.

I thought three TEs were a good value at the position they were drafted, especially Alexander and Lewis.Sorry, I took 12 hours on one pick this weekend fellas. I was no where near a computer, and I have to say, it was fine by me. :D to everyone who hasn't ditched.

speaking of TEs, what do you all think of mikhael ricks? i remember he was a 'sleeper' guy last year but was always banged up. my only lasting image of him from last year was dropping a perfect harrington TD pass last year that could have helped them beat a very good team (was it GB?).anyway, he seemed like good value where i got him as i wanted a starter with upside vs. a chad lewis/becht type, but i'm just not sure what his upside is.......?maybe i'll post something about him.

I thought those two were good as well, in fact either of those two would have been my pick instead of Jones. Oh well.I wasn't around a computer this weekend either. Felt great!

If I'd known I could get Chad Lewis in the 13th, there's no way I would have taken Shockey in the 4th. In a real league, I'd be working hard to deal him for a solid WR or RB right now.

Curses on Spartans Rule! I expected Bulger would last until it came back around in round 15. But I like my Randle El pick. He's real exciting and is fun to have on a roster. Could steal numbers from Burress and Ward.OK. It's a stretch, but I like it in round 14 of a 14 team draft!

In a start 2 league, what remains at receiver is pretty much the dregs. Now, one of these guys may turn out to be this year's Driver, but even Driver wouldnt crack my starting lineup.

I agree. I'm not saying that we're going to say, "Hey look! Someone forgot to draft Randy Moss!"But in a game where injuries mean you hit the waiver wire, a couple of players out can ruin your fantasy team if you don't DRAFT depth. 14 teams means not much left on the WW. At this point, you get the guys that you think could be there at the end of the year. A crapshoot for sure, but you go with what you know now.

Ive considered drafting a 4th WR for several rounds now, but since WRs are less injury prone then QBs and RBs, I went elsewhere. I also had to fill in those pesky TE and Def spots. For my team, since I drafted 3 WR in the first 5 rounds, the value hasnt been there at WR at any point later in the draft.

picked for him. gave him jason mcaddley. my new penalty for being late with a pick is you get an AZ WR. :) whoever has mcnabb at qb is pretty fuct. no bu qb yet, and i think carr & hutch are the only starters left.

Holcomb and Mitchell are both nice picks this late. And McAddley may not be the punishment that it first seems.Awww, what am I saying? I heard one of Saddam's torture chambers had stacks of all the Arizona Cardinals games since the move. Horrible. Just horrible.

I have enjoyed this 14 teamer with you guys. But, am I the only one who wants this thing to end? Whew, this has taken a while. I look forward to the end, so I can try and explain some of my later choices in this draft. Some reaches to say the least. I look forward to our next mock, I just want to get back to the 12 teamers!

I couldn't agree more. About it ending AND about the 12 teamers.

yeah i think for our live draft i might not go a full 16 rounds. its def. brutal. though it would actually be kind of fun with a bunch of people around. plus i'll be able to steal tons of guys late.def. a draft of attrition though.

Thanks, I only had 2 guys preselected for those picks and I had no idea who I would take if I didnt get them. I think everyone forgot about Brunell and I would have taken him at the last turn, but I thought Harrington represented more upside. At 15.1 Brunell was a no brainer and in a league this large, I think it would really pay off to have depth at QB. Graham is the reason that I waited so long to draft a TE. I'd been targeting him all draft long. I think he is a much better prospect then Stevens who is going much higher. While there is a logjam of TEs in NE, none of them approach the ability of Graham. Now all that is left is to select a kicker, any kicker will do.

done. grabbed carr. didn't see brunell available though. oops.
Don't sweat it. To me, Brunnel is the answer to the question, "Who's the one person that would never, under any circumstance, make it on your roster."The dude's such a stiff that if they could bottle him he'd put Viagra out of business.

graham was gonna be my next pick. i'm a pats fan and love the guy. if he's healthy, he could easily be a top 10 QB 1/3 way into the season. can't ask for more upside than that for a player at this point in the draft.

Tom -- good call on Carney. You took my kicker. I knew he wouldn't last to 15.14. Shoulda waited on Eric Johnson. :excited:
