Finished the first four. Thoroughly enjoying.

Some polarizing characters and a lot of meat on the bone.

I don't get all the Jason hate. He takes boatloads of condescension from Effie. How does he get what he wants? He asks. All the sudden the impossible becomes doable.

They were smart to partner with HBO films in that viewers will be able to see the finished product in the same place right after the show concludes. I watched the first few seasons back in the early 00s and was enthralled by the show, but was left to comb the local Blockbusters months later looking for "The Battle of Shaker Heights," et al. To this day, I still have never seen any of the films produced by those early seasons and once they became readily available to watch on cable, I had lost interest.

All the hugging is weird.

How much do you think Jason's apartment in NYC costs? I assume his parents are very wealthy.

Caught up on this and very much enjoying it. Effie sucks. She fired a guy for being black, nicely done.

Jason had a shot at being the most annoying person alive. I think they made Effie the producer just so there would be someone so over-the-top annoying as to make Jason worthy of sympathy.

Always been a bit fascinated with the making of films and TV so I love this show. Have only seen one past season of it though, the Battle of Shaker Heights one. Haven't seen the actual movie either.

While I have some respect for Jason in wanting to stick to his guns in his vision for the movie... guy needs to learn how to pick his battles. Not picking the location until the very last minute trying to hold out to get his vision... is one of the biggest thing pulling down the movie at this point and making it tough for him to carry out that vision.

Don't think they fired him. They changed him from playing the driver to being a guest at the party.

But yeah, she's not making things easier, that's for sure.

I noticed a few black people at the front table in the scene where the parents were giving their speech (despite Effie claiming that they were no black people as guests at the wedding), wasn't sure if he was one of them.

Speaking of the parents...Sue Ellen Mischke AND Wick, the trustee of the Susan Ross Foundation!

I noticed Wick right away, didn't recognize Sue Ellen at all, nice catch.

I hate Effie with the heat of a thousand suns.

She has this huge chip on her shoulder about the representation of black people. Must have the right proportion of black people in the movie in the right places. The editor is black, the DP is black, the location scout is black, many other black crew members. As producer, I imagine Effie was responsible for hiring many if not all of them.

Racist against white people much?

And the whole aversion to conflict of any kind (which is her JOB)... Causing the Farrelly brother to quit... "duly noted"

I couldn't spend 5 minutes in a room with her

Unless they edited the show to depict it differently, she also either sabotaged Jason or miscommunicated the situation in a huge way.

When they were talking about stunt safety, I wasn't familiar with the incident that the HBO guy was referring to with someone named Sarah and train tracks that had sparked changes on safety in movies.

Googled and found it. Here's the story of it. Damn.

I watched seasons 1 a few weeks ago and just finished season 2 on HBO Go. This is season 4. Season 3 isn't on HBO Go for some reason.

I'm assuming they ####ed it up even worse?

Just finished watching the movie. Definately not a polished product but was interested because of the series. I would give it a 5/10.

I lasted about 25 minutes. Horribly unfunny.
I thought about turning it off but stuck it out. Bell and Weeks were not bad acting wise but it just wasnt funny. The main female character was brutally written like they said on the series.

I'm 45 minutes in this movie is really bad. I knew it would be going in based how Matt, Ben, and the HBO president spoke about it.

HBO reads script for first time. Several days to punch it up. Ok...action.

I guess a $3mill movie not such a waste when you get 8 episodes of Affleck/Damon promotion and affiliation. Show was entertaining.

Watched the move while working from today. My biggest takeaways, besides how generally bad it was, were how the picture looked pretty crappy to my untrained eye at several times, and unless my cable provider had some sort of hiccup, I could swear I saw a jolt of the camera just as the car "crash" happened, as if they were putting two shots together. Which we know wasn't even possible.

I'm not going to lie, my finger is hovering over the delete button.
There's a (likely) body double female ### in the second half of the movie. Normally I wouldn't cite that as a compelling reason to stick around, but if anyone can make that into an event, it's you!

I just saw that. Juicy double for sure.

The original script had to be better than this schlock. So hackneyed and predictable.

I think they intentionally removed a couple of frames. Make the car look like it crossed the distance faster than it really did to make the crash seem more impressive.

Binge watched the season and really enjoyed it, then watched the movie. It's staggeringly bad. Boring, no character development, unfunny, just terrible in every way. It's pretty comical how the director comes off as this serious, uncompromising artist, and then gives us something with dialogue about guys licking each other's #######s and penises drawn on a man's face. The big car crash scene was a joke too. And the ending made absolutely no sense.

I hope they do more seasons because it's fascinating to watch the movies being made, but I think they'll have trouble casting anyone decent with this awful track record.
