My son bowled his first 300 game in the 2nd game of a tournament today. Kind of came out of no where. He had never strung more than 8 strikes in a row before. His previous high game was 269. Him and another kid actually both rolled 300's in the same game on the same lane. It was something to see.

I can't imagine a 300. I am a crappy bowler and usually struggle to get 150.

However the only time I ever find myself in a bowling alley is usually for a kid's birthday party or drunk friends inviting me on cheap beer night.

I bowled a 104 at a work Christmas party last year. I was embarrassed because I usually bowl ~160. Then I won the lucky game when #104 was pulled and got a $50 gas card. Much better then a 300 game, for sure.

Two 300s on the same lane??

Sounds like the balls were not properly inflated.
sounds like lane under-oiled to me.
Possible but I don't believe so. My son caught lightning in a bottle that game. He's a good bowler but never before came close to a 300 game. The other kid is a very good bowler that was on fire today. In 9 games he had 2 300's, a 278 and at least 1 other game of 250+.

Thank goodness it wasn't some sort of disc golf accomplishment. He'd have foregone sex forever to concentrate on the unmatched pleasures of throwing a frisbee into a bucket.

Pro bowling would be an awesome career
Not really, imo. The prize money just isn't there like it is in other sports. Also, it's tough. Very tough. The lane conditions (oil patterns) are much different on the pro tour versus what you see at your local bowling alley. Lots of travel too.

I'm just joking around. It's a great accomplishment for your son. Congrats!

I have been bowling for years and never put up that kind of scoring line. Kid must be something.

I bowled a 299 once. :(

ETA: A guy the same night, different lanes, also bowled a 299.

Rolled a 298 once, next night a friend rolled a 300.

Had to upstage me. But he also rolled an 800 a few years ago too.

I shot 300 against a guy on the other team who also shot 300. I got 1 more pin of handicap than him, so I won the point.....2 bad.....just a little FIGJAM!!!

Oh, it was a blast watching my son in his 2nd/3rd grade flag football. He was quarterbacking like a boss. Juking and Jiving, threw a TD and Ran for another, kept his eyes down field.

10 pin on last ball?
 The pressure got to me. I got lucky on a couple strikes early, but the last ball I rolled was terrible. I was lucky to get 9.

I'm bowling tonight for the first time in 3 years. Good thread timing.

ETA: I got a plaque for 11 in a row. I threw it away.

Why? That's actually quite an accomplishment. Something the vast majority of bowlers will never do.

In all the years I've been bowling (for fun with buddies, nothing serious) I've never seen a 300 game. Best I've done is a 217 and the best I witnessed is a 298. The whole alley was cheering him on, and he skipped the ball on the last throw. Dude was devastated.

Yeah I know, and I should feel better about it. Felt like a "failure" plaque at the time. So close.

Well I have bowled off and on for 40 years and never got there. So accept my congratulations on your achievement.

Pretty impressive. I averaged about 180 in high school when I bowled a few games once a week. High was 265 or something around there. I never came close to 300.

I still have my 300 patch at home from when I was 17 (averaged 202 at the time on some tough wood lanes).

I suck now.

So he didn't win the tournament?

Hope you threw away any participation awards he might have gotten.

My buddy rolled a 300 and got a ring to commemorate it. His wife said "what the hell did you order a ring for, you don't even wear your wedding ring". He replied, "yeah, but this one actually means something". Ouch :boxing: :topcat:

I could barely walk on my last ball my legs were shaking so bad. Threw it right through the nose

In my bowling alley, everyone in the whole freaking place stops everything and you can hear a pin drop.

It's crazy

Same way it is where I bowl. Everyone stops and watches. My teammates were funny after the 9th in a row. They were going overboard to talk about anythings besides my bowling.

Those old wooden lanes are so tough.
 Bowled the 299 on wood lanes at a place that was known for being inconsistent from lane-to-lane and night-to-night. New ownership switched to synthetics. They use to have a 300 bowled once every 2-3 years. Now it's 6-8 a year.

Yeah we had those wooden lanes when I bowled in the military. The lanes were so inconsistent. I ended up having two balls. One for dry lanes and one for oily.

Let the jokes begin.

Wait. People still bowl?

I keed, I keed. Nothing like a Miller High Life shirt to make the night right, am I right?

Am I?

Wait a second, the official world record for real bowling is 245. What's all this talk about high 200s and 300? Blasphemy! Never been done!
