Prymetymes Post Draft QB rankings (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
Now that I have completed all of my rookie drafts I feel say enough to post this now. I'll give my post and pre draft rankings.

1.) Matt Ryan - Should be Starting by the end of the year if not by the end of TC. (no knock on Redman as he did an OK job.) Ryan has everthing you need to be a upper tier FF Qb in this league. If Atlanta can fix their O-line issues I can see him starting Week 1 but if not I cant see them putting him out there yet. I'll admit I wasn't crazy about him and thought he was the top qb because, well, who else was gonna be in this class. After a while of studying him I think he does provide alot at the position and in 2-3 years should be right behind Eli in QB rankings.

Pre draft ranking (2)

2.) Joe Flacco - Situation has nothing to do with this ranking. Flacco has all the necessary tools you need and the qb postion to be a stud. He'll make some really bad reads his rookie year if he plays but should be able to make up for it with his outstanding arm strength. He's big, tall and has a big arm. I dont know much about his mobility but I dont even think it matters. If he can grasp the playbook early watchout this guy will be a stud.

Pre draft ranking (1)

3.) Josh Johnson - He gets this ranking on potential alone. Of all the qbs in this draft Johnson is the only one who could transform into something unbelievable. Thats why he ranked 3. Henne and Brohm are probably better than him now but I think he shoots past them in a year and never looks back. He could eventually be Steve Young like and I think thats scary. Now mentally I dont know where he at but I really hope he picks up Gruden's playbook quickly because I wouold love to see what this guy can do early.

Pre draft ranking (5)

4a.) Chad Henne - Tough kid, Decent situation, and good intangibles. Think this kid is a good leader. Does everything good but nothing great. I really dont see the difference between him and Brohm other than maybe arm strength and college playbooks. Although I think Henne will be just a solid qb I think he has a chance to put up the top rookie stats if he starts.

Pre draft ranking (3)

4b.) Brian Brohm - less than decent situation, average arm strength and injuries have him ranked here. Not really sure which Brohm Green Bay got. The one from 2 years ago or last years Brohm? A qb coming who made his bones out of a spread offense then struggles with a new system, thats was a less than stellar physical attributes just doesn't smell right. Smells alot like David Carr. BUT....... TT drafted him and so that ups his stock IMO.

Pre draft ranking (4)

5.) John David Booty - Is his first name John David? really? I think he has a great situation ahead of him if Jackson ***** things up. Minnesota doesn't exactly need a playmaker they just need a manager and if Booty gets in and can do that WOW he could be one of the hottest guys in the NFL. Admittedly I dont know alot about him but his situation smells alot like Big Bens did. hmmmm... interesting.

Pre draft ranking (7)

Guys to keep your eye on:

Erik Ainge- if he has a stronger arm than Chad and is a better decision maker than Kellen he could be the starter in year 2.

Colt Brennen- College numbers in spread offense, can he be a WC qb?

Kevin OConnell- Only because he could make Cassell expendable.

Dennis Dennis- 2 year from now some team will be inquiring about him to make him their starter. pre draft ranking (6)

Thoughts and Opinions would be greatly appreciated

Could you clarify the bumps, post-draft, as you indicate it has little or nothing to do with situation?

Like Henne, and Flacco. I didn't change my opinions / rankings of them at all after the draft, why did you? (I dropped Brohm some, I'll raise Johnson)

I like your write-ups, and you've prompted me to relook at Johnson and Booty (he he), but just to compare, mine:

TIER ONE

1. Ryan - was my top guy before the draft, still is, I'm not as high on him as Atlanta seems, but he should be decent. White could be a top WR, so this is interesting.

2. Henne - I'm a Michigan fan and thought Henne was the best QB before the college season started, he had a rough year, but he has the skills and a decent situation.

3. Flacco - complete boom or bust pick, could easily be the best QB or worthless. Baltimore's a pretty good spot to go to.

TIER TWO

4. Johnson - a guy I didn't know much about, seems to have top potential

5. Brohm - Situation is good, if you're not sold on Rodgers. Almost a must-draft for Rodgers owners, IMO he's more talented, but Rodgers should know the playbook better.

None of the rest are better than a flyer, I wish Flynn would have landed in a better spot, but I can see him starting somewhere in a couple years.

In the case of Ryan and Flacco it started to become more of a gut and then listening to alot of experts speak so highly of Ryan made me flip flop the 2. For comparison sake I see Flacco as a Cutler type and Ryan as a Hasselbeck type. Cutler has the high ceiling but Hasselbeck always gets the numbers. My mind is really warped and sometimes only I can understand it so I HTH.Henne, Brohm, and Johnson Josh basically leap frogs both of these guys because I believe he has a higher ceiling than those 2, Hell maybe even Ryan and Flacco for that matter. Like i said you might get something that we haven't seen since Steve Young. I liked Henne alot too but I just couldn't put him ahead of Johnson and couldn't distingush the difference between him and Brohm other than opportunity.Booty is a different case. i thought he should have done alot better in college but as you can see he didn't really have all the weapons that the qbs ahead of him had. He's really hard to guage and really puts him in a wierd catagory. I actually had Dixon rated ahead of him and probably would of had him there now if not being drafted by PITT which means we won't know for about 2-3 years if he can play or not.

Good read.I don't know much about Ainge, but if I was a betting man (and I am) I would say that he has a stronger arm than Pennington.
