PSA: Baltimore D is no longer elite (1 Viewer)

The only thing this D was still hanging its hat on was it's top-rated run D, and it's 100-yd streak. Closer inspection shows that Benson is the only thing that even remotely approaches a legitimate starter they've faced all year...and he shredded them.

They aren't good against the pass, or as a scoring D, and they've now been exposed vs the run as well.

They're still opportunistic, and aren't a terrible fantasy D. But the days when you juggled your starting lineup to avoid matching up against this "dreaded" D ought to be over. This is a middle of the pack defense. Nothing more.

maybe benson is the elite one and not even elite baltimore could get him down?
It's probably a little bit of both. Benson's not bad and Cincy is certainly improved. But the Ratbirds have struggled mightily to hold SD, NE and now the Bengals in check. This is not the gambling, big play-making, blitz-from-a-thousand-different-angles defense of Rex Ryan.

dont think SD ran well at all on them other than the 1 wheel that sproles ran

dont remember NE vs them, was it when fred taylor hit 100?

San Diego didn't move the ball very well on the ground against them and the Pats had limited success, though I thought Sammie Morris had some important gains in that game. I guess I was addressing their defense overall, not just the run D. If that's not what this thread is about, my apologies.
