Pumpkin - Just Stop (1 Viewer)

I really enjoy most pumpkin things. Pumpkin bread, pumpkin cake, pumpkin pie...I even bought some pumpkin spice coffee creamer last year which wasn't bad. I do have my limits, though - I tried some pumpkin pop-tarts last fall and they were not good.

For those who like pumpkin-spice coffee, if you brew in an old school 12-cup pot ... just break out the spice rack and throw the following items into the grounds before brewing:

Two pinches cinnamon

Two pinches powdered nutmeg

One pinch powdered cloves

Call a "pinch" about 1/4 teaspoon if that helps. Cloves are option, but adds a nice kick IMO.

Once you brew the coffee that way, you can control the sweetener and creamer to your preference. No need for flavored creamer.

If you use a Keurig, not sure how to replicate this. Maybe with those reusable pods and tiny spice amounts.

yeah, this. There's a reason that pumpkin pie was the only pumpkin thing ten years ago. Pumpkin bread rules and I'd eat anything that ended with cheesecake. That's right, anything!

Speaking of pumpkins.

You know what you don't see anymore?

People going pumpkin picking.

Just a shame. A nice family tradition gone to the wayside.

It can be hard to get out to the country. I see lots of families at the lots picking out their pumpkins. Not quite the same but still good family time.

Getting a pumpkin beer 5-10 years ago was a treat. There was only a couple of them and they only made limited quantities -- I couldn't wait for them to come out.

Now there are a million of them and they start selling them in August. Just not as much of a treat as it used to be.
It is like Christmas...soon there will be pumpkin beer on the Fourth of July.

I was being sarcastic.

My facebook feed is 3000 pictures of people at the pumpkin farm

And if you don't have a couple of those and are going to the store for them, you can likely find a pumpkin spice mix in those racks.

Not quite there but the local "pumpkin" ale was released in July. There's a reason though. They're limited on brewing capacity and need to be able to also brew their regular beers and other rotating/special beers, and it's their best seller so they brewed several batches. Had to start early to meet demand and it sold very well, even in July/August. Just had a guy at a beer store complain he can't get any to sell.

Anyway, like I was sayin', pumpkin is the fruit of the season. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey's uh, pumpkin-kabobs, pumpkin creole, pumpkin gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple pumpkin, lemon pumpkin, coconut pumpkin, pepper pumpkin, pumpkin soup, pumpkin stew, pumpkin salad, pumpkin and potatoes, pumpkin burger, pumpkin sandwich. That- that's about it.

Got this wrong (verified as I made coffee this morning)...called "pumpkin pie mix" and also has some ginger and allspice in addition to the above.

I put it in the cup then fill it up with fresh brewed coffee. More potent that way.

Made some pumpkin pizza last night. Was ####### delicious.
It really is fascinating....I disagree with literally everything you say/like.

Not your fault at all,but I've just never encountered anyone in any facet of my life that I think I have less in common with.

Pumpkin on a pizza? Ugh. Sounds like something the clowns at California pizza kitchen would come up with

I used to look forward to the local brewpub doing their pumpkin ale every year but now every brewery in the world does it.
So, does the fact that "every brewery in the world" makes pumpkin beer change the taste of the pumpkin ale at your favorite pub?
Well, now I know there are better ones out there, but it used to be something that I eagerly anticipated and was the only one I knew. Now they come out in August, some are better, most are not but overall, I looked forward to it more when I waited for that specific beer in that one location.

It seems like there's a pretty easy solution here.

Not sure about the cloves, but I'll give it a shot.

BTW, if cinnamon and nutmeg are 'pumpkin flavored' then I've been having pumpkin flavored oatmeal every day for years.

Mmm, love me some pumpkin pie. Don't drink pumpkin coffee or beer so don't care about those.

But pumpkin pastries this time of year? Delicious!

I like pumpkin pie. Screw the rest of it though, especially digging the guts out of a pumpkin to make a jack o'lantern and the thing rots and oozes crap all over your porch within a few days. Probably because it's still in the 80's down here in October most years. Don't even get me started on gourds.

Tried the pumpkin spice oreo milkshake from Burger King tonight. Wasn't sure how well pumpkin and oreo would go together, but it was really damn good.
