Punters and Coaches (1 Viewer)

I've been thinking about this for awhile now. I made the switch to IDP leagues and it's so much more fun than the standard DEF/ST. But I want more. Anybody here in a league that incorporates punters (punt yards? punts inside the 20?) and Coaches (Wins)? Does it provide more joy to the FF experience?

personally i thinik it istaking it a bit far, ecspecially with punters. Coaches have a bit more stats that might make them interesting like 4th down conversions success rate etc. but some scoring system based solely on wins is not to interesting to me. What do you do with punters, average distance, average starting position of opponent? Is tracking that worth the effort?

My league added punters this year....

1pt for punts inside the 20, and .04pts/yard.

It's fun to freak out over a play you used to ignore on MNF.

... down by .75, less than a minute to go in MNF, your punter takes the field and BOOM, hits at 26 bounces, 24....22....starts to roll..... all the while you're screaming at the TV.

It's fun, and it's no stupider than kickers. MFL tracks it, so as commish, I don't care. :lmao:

I've played in leagues with head coach before, but it was very basic. You got 7 points for a team win and -7 for a loss. A lot of the players just chose to not start one break even.

I had Tony Dungy the year the Colts started 13-0, so I was pretty much guaranteed 7 points every week.

The IDP, dynasty league I commish uses punters, as well as every other position too.No coaches though. Here is the scoring we use for punters.Simply, it gives 1pt for punts inside the 20 and the rest of scoring is based on the net avg of all the punts in the game by said punter.Rules for PN Event Range (Low-High) Points Test? Punters - Sure. I'm not a huge fan of it, but it also doesn't do any harm.

Coaches - Not so much. To me, it just seems like picking the best team in the NFL. The coach has something to do with team success but mostly you're just betting on the team to win or whatever. I got plenty of other pools that already do that.

One of my leagues has used coaches since before I joined. Win = 4, tie = 2, loss = 0. Usually doesn't affect the outcome of a game, but every so often it does, and those games can be thrilling.

The real strategy is deciding at what point in the draft to take a coach. This year I took a coach before I took a kicker (because I have a better idea of what coaches are going to be the most successful.)

We use HC's. You get up to 5 points for a win (1 for a win, up to 4 more for margin of victory). You also LOSE up to 5 points for a loss (same as the wins but in reverse). Next year we're going to crank it up to a 10 point swing.

It's a lot more fun screaming at the tv during a blowout because the team gives up a garbage field goal and it causes you to lose an extra point or two.

I lost in week 1 because I went with Singletary instead of Kubiak. Ooof.

We'll also be incorporating punters into the league next year.

The really hard core leagues have a category for holders.

Anyhow, I think it depends on the league. Coaches I'm not a huge fan of since that's basically picking teams it's not really like picking a player. Punters are fine if you're league is so inclined - there's more than a few leagues that use 'em now so I'm sure you can get good tips on scoring.
