QB Aaron Rodgers, PIT (2 Viewers)

Diva QB. Fine by me. As long as he produces big this year,  I don't care if it's for all the wrong reasons.
Towards the end of the Bleacher Report article, there are some Greg Jennings quotes regarding Rodgers' public reaction to the LaFleur hiring. Jennings says that Rodgers is already setting the table to be his typical antagonistic self toward his new coach.

I wouldn't touch Rodgers in fantasy this year unless I get some seriously positive vibes during camp. Even then I wouldn't likely take him. And I won a title last year with him on my team.

I'm sending a bitter end to his career. But I'm a Viking fan, so maybe it's just wishful thinking.

As we know no QB in history has a higher passing rating than he does (Russell Wilson second) and he has won a SB and is in that discussion of the greatest ever.

All this other stuff seems a bit petty actually.

Jennings way too sensitive.

Aaron Rodgers said he'll be able to "put a stamp on" his new offense.

Rodgers believes he can be more creative in this offense -- that happens when your last coach is Mike McCarthy -- and that he only needs three months to feel comfortable with it. It's still early, but Rodgers is confident in what Matt LaFleur is cooking up and that should result in a better 2019 season, especially if he is healthier this time around.

not a believer in LeFleur, nor am I believer in Rodgers ability to stay healthy for 16 games.as an owner of his in a dynasty league I've been trying to trade him for 2 years now, I can't even get a chicken parm sandwich for him. or half-sandwich. there are too many good young pups out there that are dumping the same stats as Rodgers. he has become an also-ran QB, past his prime on the sunset tour of his career. and now we have LeFleur who actually screwed up Titans offense more than he helped it, it was already a grease fire to begin with!

no thanks.

The problem with Rodgers from a fantasy perspective is that he no longer (if he ever did) gives you a clear advantage over any number of others you could take at QB for a cheaper price, yet you still have to pay for the 'name'. Pass.

Agreed. Plus, he seems to get dinged up or hurt nearly every year now, so it's not worth the risk any more, especially with the QB position so deep.  I have never been a "take a QB early" guy in general anyway.

Not the best I’ve seen from Rodgers.

What TF was that play action on 2nd and 5 while trying to ice the game? It didn’t end up mattering but it was a head scratcher. I think he audibles to it.

The Graham TD was a ball that really shoulda been picked or incomplete. I hate to call it lucky, so I’ll just say it wasn’t not lucky.

I dunno...the packers as a whole were a more confident, less mistake-prone offense & that’s why they won. The Graham TD was almost irrelevant. If that were a FG, they win 6-3 instead of 10-3.

Rodgers was pretty good when they needed him, but that’s about the worst I’ve seen him play.

Read this morning that the TD to Graham they caught the Packers with 12 men on the field. I didn't see a flag during  the game but that is what the paper is claiming. Would explain why Rodgers threw it up.

Do you mean the Bears had 12?

Because otherwise Nagy should have challenged that play.

The quarterback play from ARod last night looked exactly the same as it has for the past few seasons.  Both good and bad aspects.  The results weren't there due to the Bears defense, but I saw nothing last night that leads me to believe we'll see a new and improved Aaron Rodgers moving forward.

I saw someone in the game topic say that too. I didn’t see a flag.

Still a pretty lucky catch regardless.

Might have been one of those that Rodgers would have had them challenge it had it been incomplete or intercepted if he really thought it was 12 men.

As for the pass...lucky sure...as I said in a couple places though, it was nice seeing Rodgers trust the receiver (Graham in this case) with most of the D with their back turned.

Should have listened to everyone. Waste of a 5th. Plenty of late late guys that are crushing his fantasy totals. Good on the pack for their wins though.

Probably going 0-2 in the league I got him, but these have been two really good defenses he started out against.

Haven’t read anything in this thread ...

but it based on the title? No ...  no he’s not, not even close.

He needs to stop thinking he’s really cool, and instead ... be a good QB. I think he “crowned” himself a few years ago - and then has just sorta coasted.

step your game up

Guy has done ZERO in second halves this year.

I counted:

-17 drives

-1 drive ended the game

-4 FGs (1 was missed)

-1 rushing TD (Jones)

-11 punts

Aaron Rodgers completed 34-of-53 passes for 422 yards yards, two touchdowns and an interception in the Packers' 34-27, Week 4 loss to the Eagles, adding five rushes for 46 additional yards.

As NFL Network's Michael Irvin said in the postgame, Rodgers did his best to throw out Matt LaFleur's vanilla, run-established offense and take over. Although he was continually handicapped by go-nowhere Aaron Jones first down runs, Rodgers relentlessly worked his connection with Davante Adams for 10 grabs and 180 yards. He found four other pass catchers for at least 37 yards against the Eagles' severely undermanned secondary. He should have had a third score, but the Pack somehow managed to come away from a 1st-and-goal at the one with four straight passes and no score to show for it. Rodgers then ended the game by forcing a ball to Marquez Valdes-Scantling at the goal line that was batted into the air and picked by Nigel Bradham. Looking very much like the "real" Rodgers, the quarterback did not hesitate to use his legs. Provided Adams, who injured his toe, can get healthy for Green Bay's Week 5 trip to Dallas, Rodgers will be a high-end QB1 for a likely shootout.

Seriously.

Woof.
C’mon man ... did you have my post saved up, ready to quote it when he had a good game?

Where were you the past 3 weeks?

Anyways. I hope he keeps this up. I had high hopes going into the season. Hopefully Adams doesn’t miss too much time ...

Also, he still didn’t look like vintage Rodgers last night. Dude needs to get back in the gym.  Take a page out of TB12’s book or something -

I agree with every word of your post after watching last night's barf fest. Guy definitely isn't playing like the best ever. He's bad. And it'll take more than letting go of the ego and not wasting time making so many commercials for insurance to fix it (if that's even possible).
Dude ... I was saying that all night, while watching the game.

Almost verbatim 😅

kept saying to my brother ... “ man Rodgers looks like a flabby, scared man right now. It’s a shame that he thinks he’s too cool to prepare properly”

“all those commercials, and everyone telling him that he’s Aaron Rodgers ... just led to him believing THAT he is the stud everyone told him he was”

Love the player. But seriously. He needs to step his routine up if he intends to be one of the rare QB’s that don’t drop off. He just doesn’t seem to have the same drive that TB12 does.

on one of the podcasts I listen to regularly, he was a guest. And he heaped praise on Tom Brady ... acted like he was shocked at how he’s seemingly gotten better with age.

hey Rodge ... work at your craft. And I think  you could have the same result.

Good at beating up on bad teams.

Since 2012, Aaron Rodgers is 17-26-1 (.395) against teams that finished the season with a winning record.

No argument here. We're talking about A Aron sucking against good competition, though.
And im just cracking on your Bears.  Whats Rodgers QB rating in those games?  Just curious.  Actually not really since this thread is dumb since at the time it was started it was true.  Now its not and i dont think anyone is saying as much.

Since Week 1 of 2017, Rodgers ranks as the #8 fantasy QB based on fantasy ppg and is less than a ppg better than the #12 fantasy QB. Counting only 2018 and 2019 so far, he drops to QB 11. Essentially, he is a bottom tier starting fantasy QB and no longer provides any advantage over other fantasy QB's. He averages 3-4 ppg less than other top QB's (and 8 ppg less than the current gold standard known as Mahomes).
