QB Caleb Williams, CHI (7 Viewers)

Good to see he can dominate an inept defense. Now to look as good playing NFL teams.
people never cease to amaze me—they are a bottom this D, but he absolutely dominated and has gotten better every week. People are too myopic, as he’s still learning the nuances of a bean new, complicated offensive system

People can work up a real animus simply by arguing a position. They get attached to their conclusion and reasoning like it was a pet.

Williams looked good and can feel good about himself this week. Another week of practice and learning under Johnson with positive vibes this time.

The other thing in his favor is that all the skill position unknowns on this offense have ALL looked good. Odunze looks better, Moore is engaged, Burden and Loveland have both shown well.

None of those things were certain before the season started.

He can only play the defense in front of him and he did exactly what you expect a QB would do against that defense.

Good for him. I hope the Bears build on this win. They could be a fun team to watch.

Ok. I was being sarcastic. I drafted him in multiple leagues along with Odunze. I have high hopes.

I'll say it again, he might just need time. I know the distractors will always say no but those will miss out if he keeps improving. I'm not saying he will be great or elite but why can't he keep improving, especially now with a good offensive system.

I agree.

It's one game, against a lesser defense but, he did exactly what you would hope he would do against that defense. Here's to hoping he can build that momentum.

I just looked, and Caleb Williams is the 5th-highest scoring player in our league. Not the 5th QB, 5th overall.

I may have been a little harsh in my assessment of this kid. He could be something?

As of now I am sitting him one league in favor of Nix based on matchup. I may change my mind….but Nix gets cincy at home and Caleb is on the road at Vegas.

I have no idea how the rest of the year will play out but, I think people allowed external factors to knock Caleb down draft boards. By the standards of almost any other year he had a very good rookie season he just happened to come out the same year two other rookie QB had amazing years.

A lot of people didn't pay attention to the fact that he ran for 60 more yards than Bo Nix he just missed out on the TDs.

Physically, he's a "five tool" QB and, from a fantasy perspective it's tough to shut him down entirely. When he's bad you'll still get 200 yards passing with & 25 or so rushing. That's 12.5 points in most leagues without throwing a TD.

He also doesn't hurt you with turnovers, at least not INTs. Too many fumbles (10), which is expected with 68 sacks, but only 5 lost. If he gets the sacks under control the fumbles will drop. Six sacks and 0 fumbles so far this year. 🤞

That's my quarterback (I am saying with Terrell Owens tears in my eyes).

I think Caleb is progressing. Took his lumps in a bad situation in 2024 and now looking at early season FF stud at QB.

I think he's going to shred the Raiders this Sunday.

It was really wild how much people hate the guy. Everyone thinks Matt Eberflus was a bad HC, everyone thinks Shane Waldron was a bad OC. Writing off a rookie QB who was the consensus #1 overall pick, just made no sense at all.

Beyond that, Caleb doesn’t do himself any favors.

Comments like that always blow my mind. And the following isn't directed at you personally so please feel free not to answer.

I just don't get it.

What has he done to deserve to be viewed this way? Paint his nails with mean things about his opponents? Dare to ask if pegging his salary to the cap or an ownership stake is possible? Going off script during games?

And what does any of it have to do with what he can or can't accomplish on the field?

People just don't like this kid, who they really know nothing about, for odd reasons. It's wild.

And that wasn't even him, that was something his dad suggested IN AN INTERVIEW, not even something that was presented as an actual plan.

Telling the punter he doesnt have to worry about punting anymore. Meanwhile, they lead in punts since saying that.

Oh, okay. Bravado. One time. Gotcha.

I remember, at the time how I thought he should have said "I hope you leg is in great shape because you're going to need it." I'm sure Bears fans would have loved that.

Oh, but Facebook had a meme where Caleb said, "blah blah blah"... everyone should be outraged at his sense of entitlement and hate him now!

That's the crap I've seen. See it in every sport actually. Some of it is pretty sick (and again, to emphasize your point - not picking specifically on @Manster here).

There was a lot of stuff going around that he was a diva and entitled. I dont watch college football. Just saying what I saw and gave hin this reputation.

Anyway. I own him in fantasy and think its a but early to do a victory lap for what he did vs the cowboys. Russell Wilson threw for 430 yds vs the cowboys and is a backup 2 weeks later.

Good point. This is not a victory lap in any way. I think my post above is clear about that.

The only thing I said at any point about the Cowboys game is that he did exactly what we thought he should have done against that defense. Anyone who thinks he should put up four TDs on, say, the Packers is just looking for a reason to knock him when he doesn't.

He’s 3rd in mine. Behind the usual suspects - Lamar and Josh. First two weeks he was 11th.
In redraft I just don’t like his playoff schedule - packers, browns, packers, 49ers.

I honestly don’t know first hand if he’s a diva, or a douche. Just going on 2nd/3rd hand info. Also, he’s from usc so he automatically gets one strike against him there!

Anyway, I’ll just sit back and see what unfolds, and hope he scores me piles of points in FF.

He's currently top 5 scoring QB in fantasy...isn't that all we care about?

And he has had three straight quality fantasy performances. In his other two games he has 417 yards passing with 3 pass TDs and 85 yards rushing with a TD.

He's having a strong fantasy year so far.

I just looked, and Caleb Williams is the 5th-highest scoring player in our league. Not the 5th QB, 5th overall.

I may have been a little harsh in my assessment of this kid. He could be something?
This may sound bad but he could be a better Jay Culter. No doubt Caleb has stuff he needs to work on, some of it pretty big, but he's making steps. There are some habits he needs to fix but he legitimately seems to be putting in the time and effort and has coaches now who can help him.

There may still be boneheaded plays and throws - that is how goes. Even the legendary Favre had some really dumb and boneheaded plays throughout his career. It happens, but overall I think Caleb can be a solid fantasy QB.

Some? Most overrated QB ever IMO. Madden Jedi mind tricked him into the HoF. He was the original meme QB.

Tony Romo>Brett Favre

Started Caleb every week and am not disappointed - does he have challenges in REAL NFL football\? Yes - "to me" that's been more on coaching and organization - I also have Herbert and have yet to play him. Fantasy is NOT NFL.

Caleb Williams as a passer this season:

210 YDS, 1 TD
207 YDS, 2 TD
298 YDS, 4 TD
212 YDS, 1 TD
252 YDS, 1 TD

The only Bear with five-straight 200/1 games to begin a season.

Jacob Infante
I've said it before, but the #Bears winning games like this makes me so excited for the future.

They were passive in coverage. Caleb Williams still needs work. And too many dumb penalties.

If they win games with all of that, imagine how great they can be when it all clicks.

Fantasy QB12 and the 11 QBs ahead of him haven't had their bye week yet like Chicago. He'd likely be top 6 if not for the bye. He looks better and better every week in the system. And once again he had several plays last night where his WRs dropped good balls, namely Zaccheaus nearly blowing the game dropping one that hit him in the hands on a 3rd down with a wide open field in front of him. It's wild the hate this kid gets lol. It's not even like he's some Justin Fields getting his fantasy scoring purely on rushing and garbage time despite being miserable in the passing game. He's on track to clear 4000 passing yards and get 37 TDs (would be the first Bears QB in history to clear 4k yards). Even most of the downtrodden Bears fans have moved on from the reactionary "bust" takes. He's clearly a competent starting QB in real football who's still getting better and really only 5 games in to his career; and for fantasy he's already a top 10 QB in dynasty SF who's again trending up. Competent head coach. Surrounded by talent. Wish any one of my dynasty league owners were even half as low on him as people here so I could buy him.

3-2 record and a 9:2 TD:INT ratio.

Hopefully can hold off Bagent another week. Fingers crossed 🤞
I just knew they were gonna pull him mid game when I saw his fingernails were painted multiple colors. MULTIPLE COLORS! You can't lead a group of men if your nails are painted more than 1 friggin' color. 🤣
Totally off topic but this reminded me of it; how does Caleb catch all that flak for his nails yet I don't see anyone talking about Mike McDaniel singlehandedly trying to make capri pants a thing again. I don't think I've seen an over-14-year-old girl wearing capris in the wild in decades.

Its not singlehandedly. I saw McVay wearing some capri type pants the other game as well.

Ugh. I mean who knows, I am the age now where I could be completely out of touch. And I'm certainly no fashionista. But it's extremely hard to take him serious when he's taking L after L on the field and he's standing at the post game presser behind the podium looking like he's about to go noodle for some cat fish. May as well throw a pair of JNCOs in the rotation at this point.
