Eagles exercised Carson Wentz's fifth-year option.
With little risk involved, there was never a doubt Philly would pick up Wentz's fifth-year option. The 26-year-old is now set to make $8,487,927 in 2019 and $22,783,000 the following year (barring an extension). Although Wentz's option doesn't become fully guaranteed until the first day of the new league year, it is fully guaranteed for next season in the event of an injury. GM Howie Roseman is on record of wanting to ink his franchise signal-caller to a long-term deal, but whether that's completed this year could come down to Wentz's health this season.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports there will be "no limitations" for Carson Wentz (back) in OTAs.
Per Rapsheet, the Eagles will be "smart" with their franchise quarterback, but that he is expected to "be involved in the majority of all work." Speaking in mid-April, Wentz had said he was not yet fully healed. Now Wentz should get in his usual work in mandatory minicamp before training camp.

Carson Wentz (back) will be a full participant during OTAs.
Ian Rapoport reported this would be the case on Monday, and the Eagles confirmed it before OTAs opened on Tuesday. With Wentz fully recovered, the focus will shift to his impending extension, which Adam Schefter expects to be done at some point this offseason.

NFL.com's Mike Garofolo believes Carson Wentz is "locked in potentially for a return to MVP form."
Garofolo passed along his thoughts after watching Eagles OTAs and listening to team observers, including coach Doug Pederson. In addition to finally getting over his knee and back injuries, Wentz has "shed some pounds." Headed into his age-27 campaign, Wentz does indeed offer yearly MVP upside, though he will not be amongst the betting favorites. In early fantasy drafts, Wentz is being taken as a lower-end QB1.

Carson Wentz, QB, Year 4
We've talked about this guy just a tad this offseason. Wentz, 26, looks like himself, which is to say he doesn't look like a guy recovering from injury. In the first two open practices, we've commented about how good Wentz has looked: Day 1, Day 2.
Getting on the same page as his receivers this offseason is important and now Wentz has a head start. Remember, he was still recovering from his knee injury this time last year. This spring, he hasn't shown signs of problems with his knee or his back. He's even ditched the knee brace on his left leg.
The #Eagles and Carson Wentz have agreed to terms on a four-year contract extension through 2024.

Eagles are giving Carson Wentz a four-year, $128 million contract extension that include guarantees over $107 million, per source.
Wentz’s total deal is now six years for $154 million, per source
"He'll have to carry the Eagles at times, make due when some of his favorite targets leave in free agency or when he's saddled with a defense that won't always dominate."
Huge value in redraft right now. He has Andrew Luck upside this year.Prime bounce back candidate.
Only thing he has to bounce back on is perception. His play was quietly very good last year.Prime bounce back candidate.
Would've been nice had Melvin Gordon's agent had said Gordon wants to leave if not paid sooner. Would've much preferred him over Howard. Great bell cow back with receiving ability. I know the cost would be an issue but he's one of the few worth it.Amused to Death said:Line up Ertz and Goedert with Jeffery on one side and DJax on the other to blow the top off the defense, plus a receiving threat out of the backfield. Scary good passing offense. Bargain as the 8th QB coming off the board with top-3 potential.
I don’t think the hype will get too out of control before the season starts because I doubt he plays much during the preseason games. I’m guessing a lot of folks will want to see regular season proof first.Really hoping I can grab Carson at a value but worry the hype will catch up......super excited for this season.
I honestly didn't realize he averaged nearly 280 yards per game. When I was watching Eagles/checking thier box scores, seemed like he was struggling.Only thing he has to bounce back on is perception. His play was quietly very good last year.
Just got him pick 3.8 FFPC super flex. I like it.Really hoping I can grab Carson at a value but worry the hype will catch up......super excited for this season.
He was strugglin....imagine him at 100% will a full camp and preseasonI honestly didn't realize he averaged nearly 280 yards per game. When I was watching Eagles/checking thier box scores, seemed like he was struggling.

the offense was clunky because they had no running gamejm192 said:I honestly didn't realize he averaged nearly 280 yards per game. When I was watching Eagles/checking thier box scores, seemed like he was struggling.
I got him in my Keeper league. I can only keep 4 so I'm most likely keeping Carson/Melvin Gordon/Sony Michel/ JuJu. I'm hoping to get a good value pick on Jackson thoughReally hoping I can grab Carson at a value but worry the hype will catch up......super excited for this season.
Coach Doug Pederson said the Eagles "are not gonna hold back" on Carson Wentz at training camp.
The team will monitor how much he throws, but there are no restrictions. Wentz was a full participant at OTAs in May, so he looks to be over his back issue that was bothering him as recently as April. Wentz could be in the mix for MVP and will be an option as a low-end QB1 with upside.

I can't, under any normal circumstances advocate keeping a QB in a league under 16 teams unless it is superflex/2 QB. But since you're also keeping Michel, I would imagine the cupboards are pretty thin on your roster.I got him in my Keeper league. I can only keep 4 so I'm most likely keeping Carson/Melvin Gordon/Sony Michel/ JuJu. I'm hoping to get a good value pick on Jackson though
Oh it is. The fact we can only keep 4 too is what sucks. I wanted to run a Keeper league and eventually change it if people liked it and we had a good crew to a dynasty league but there's push back. Also my league sucked for a bit as we had some predatory traders who are no longer in the league. Would trade their keepers they'd have to get rid of anyway and get keeper picks (we draft from round 5 on ward given the keepers are picks 1-4) so we had guys giving the best teams picks 5-8 and basically having 2 picks in those rounds hogging all the talent yearly. I haven't been good enough to suck as we have a losers bracket winner gets the 1st pick and so fourth and I haven't had a good enough roster to trade a guy or two for a higher pick either. I also lost Jordy Nelson and Gronk over the last few yrs and stupidly traded OBJ as a rookie and can't even remember what I got for him. I've made a few bad moves that set me back. Somehow I ended up winning he league like 3 yrs agoI can't, under any normal circumstances advocate keeping a QB in a league under 16 teams unless it is superflex/2 QB. Those in best ball need to get Wentz asap. Pair him up with someone with a more solid floor.Have been drafting him at or slightly before ADP all summer long, managing to add him in 3 of 4 startups and 2 of 3 redrafts. People DO FORGET how good he was two years ago. If healthy he's an absolute lock for top 5 production with a realistic shot at #1
If I draft wentz I prob wont even draft another qbThose in best ball need to get Wentz asap. Pair him up with someone with a more solid floor.
Yeah but that doesnt scare meHasn't he had mixed reviews from TC?
Not only do they forget how good he was, but they get stuck on how shaky (at times) he looked last season......I think that was an aberration (didn't trust his body), and I'm pretty high on him this year. I agree he's got a legit shot at overall QB #1.....great O line, and lots of weapons....get to play skins and vagiants twice.....also, Nick Foles thrived in the system.....skies the limit.Have been drafting him at or slightly before ADP all summer long, managing to add him in 3 of 4 startups and 2 of 3 redrafts.
