QB Dak Prescott, DAL (2 Viewers)

Time for Jerry to unleash his secret weapon he’s had waiting in the wings…. TREY LANCE.
Why are they paying Trey Lance so much money again? 4th highest paid backup QB in the NFL and you don't even take a look when your starter goes down? Unreal. This franchise is beyond dysfunctional.

They traded a 2024 4th for Lance. Notable RBs who were selected in the 4th this year: Jaylen Wright (4.20), Bucky Irving (4.25), Ray Davis (4.28), Isaac Guerendo (4.29), Braelon Allen (4.34).

I think they brought him in as a developmental player. Clearly he still must struggle with the actual throwing of the football. If he actually had developed that part of his game, hed likely be the guy they called upon.

though I doubt they dress 3 QB for all games, so Rush is likely the guy who was on the bench at the time. it is possible that they put Lance in to see what he can do to start. But Rush (as far as backups go anyways) is a fairly competent QB. I dont know why you would sit him for a guy that flamed out in San Fran.

This team is not winning a Super Bowl, this team is probably not even going to the playoffs. Cooper Rush is not your QB of the future. Give Lance the reps, see what you've got.

Every time I see Lance, whether preseason or otherwise, he looks horrible. Worse than Richardson. How many years have to go by before he’s a duck?

Must have been from that 22 yard run. That's the farthest his fat *** has run in years. :bored: But hey, at least he got his bag.

Cowboys' Jerry Jones explains why QB Dak Prescott isn't running ball much in 2024
Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy specifically sought to utilize Dak Prescott's legs in 2023, and the quarterback answered the call, logging his most carries in five years en route to All-Pro honors. By contrast, Prescott has been a virtual non-factor on the ground this year, both as a designed rusher and scrambler, managing just 10 rushes through seven games.
Dak has carried the ball just ten times in seven games.
Why isn't Dak Prescott running in 2024? Jerry Jones doesn't want him to.
More inept interference from the owner.

Dak looks too heavy now. Not nearly as nimble as he was 4-5 years ago.

Now his contract is going to be an albatross for years.

all I am saying is if they are not playing him, there must be a reason.

Last time I saw him he looked a lot like Tim Teebow. couldnt throw worth a lick but could run the ball. if they could fix the throwing part so he can actually get the ball to his receivers hands most of the time then I'd say you have something there, but the last time I looked he was a long way off of the NFL standard in terms of actual decision making and throwing the football.

so my expectation was that it would take a while to get him up to speed. likely fixing the throwing mechanics is a large part of it. and its hard to retrain someone who has been throwing the same way for a long time. some people take a long time to break the old habits. others not so much. yet some never are able to make the change.

no question the upside is there, and I do think at some point they will take a look to see where he is at. But my bet is..... hes not yet where they want/need him to be.

There was also a reason they just gave a 4th round pick for Mingo. Do you know what it was? 🤷‍♂️

All I'm saying is that in many cases their choices and decisions don't make any sense. Paying your #3 QB 5M on a 1 year show me contract then not even taking a look when your starter goes down for an extended period is mind numbingly stupid. ETA - This is week 10. This isn't early in the season when you don't know who you are and starting Rush may make sense. At this point, as Dak would say, "We ****ing suck!"

:tfp:

Rush worth an end of bench waiver pickup?

If you are desperate maybe. Cowboys season is pretty much over. Lamb seems soft so I can see him missing time with nothing to play for as he already got paid.
Really ? I thought he looked pretty tough wanting to play through a lot of pain.
Not discounting your opinion just interesting to me because i thought exactly opposite. Seemed like cowboys should have saved him from himself if anything to me. And forced him to sit.

maybe soft is the wrong word. but either way, the team is bad. no playoffs this year. do you throw your injured WR out there for no good reason? or do you let him get healthy. granted Ceedee may have something to say about that but the team looks like a bit of a train wreck right now.

in a 2 QB league Rush is worth a pickup but in a 1 QB league, its questionable.

I'm holding until I get confirmation he's out for the season or considerably longer then 4 weeks.

He could potentially end the fantasy season vs Cincy, Carolina, Tampa and Philly. That's pretty good and main reason I'm holding for now.

But he hasn't been good pretty much the entire season. Dallas is toast. They will have no reason to bring him back.

I'm not really into that narrative. He's had some good games and last year he was worse before the bye week and he exploded after and looked like he was on a similar trajectory to me and like I pointed out has a far more favorable schedule.

My guess is he's out of the year, not because Dallas is toast, but if he can return he will.

I dropped him and it felt great. Like popping a zit. There are a lot of factors that are impacting him negatively, none will be solved this year. I don't care if he comes back and has a great game or two. He will have some ugly games as well. Not what I need down the stretch, not the roster clogging risk I want to take.

Dam..nice ending to the worst contract in NFL history. Things will never change as long as JJ is the GM, and it won`t change after when his son takes over.

Agreed. The current Cowboys organization and the stretch run of the Al Davis Raiders have a common theme.

Not even one of the 5 worst contracts among current QBs.
Agree..Should have said "Cowboy History"

60MM bwahahahaha 60MM per year……

Then again my team is paying Tua 55MM per year and he has now only played one complete season in his 5 year career. Fortunately we can cut him loose in 2026 with no cap ramifications. Thank god for small miracles.

NFL is an insane asylum.

Would be nice if the Cowboys and MFL would list him as IR.
What is the reason Dallas won't put him on IR last week when it was clear he isn't coming back for the year let along in 4 weeks.

Still not ON IR after surgery....idiots

I don’t feel like searching it up, but I believe each team has a limited amount of IR moves they can make each year.

Edit: Just looked into this some more and was wrong, there is no limit to the number of players that can be put on IL. The only reason I can think of is that they do not know how long his injury will take to heal. If they what 1-2 weeks to put him on IL and it takes 5-6 weeks to heal, then they can activate him. If they put him on IL now he is out for 4 weeks, and they would have an additional 21 days after that to activate him. I am thinking they will put him on IL next week.
