QB Gardner Minshew II - KC (1 Viewer)

Minshew gives the Eagles a chance to be true contenders. Their offensive line is no joke. Minshew Mania can run hot for 4-5 weeks and it's the perfect time of year for that spark, leading into an epic playoff run.

It's a really good fit. They should trade Hurts. He's a bonehead. Poor man's Cam Newton. You'd win just as many games with Gardner-Minshew as you would Hurts and eventually Hurts is going to want a moronically big contract because he played for Alabama.

Eagles coach Nick Sirianni wouldn't comment on whether Gardner Minshew asked him for the starting job after filling in for Jalen Hurts in Week 13.

Sirianni said the team is committed to Jalen Hurts after Minshew was reportedly told it "wasn't going to happen." The rumors aren't surprising for the ultra-aggressive Minshew, who was traded from Jacksonville in August after losing his starting role to Trevor Lawrence. Hurts, a Pro Bowl alternate, has done enough to keep the job this year but there are questions on his staying power under a coaching staff that didn't draft him. With three first-round picks, the Eagles could look to sell high on Hurts this offseason, leaving Minshew as a potential bridge starter.

So, what are his prospects heating into the offseason with a QB market that could include the likes of Brady, Darnold, Mayfield, Garoppolo, Brissett, Jones, and G. Smith?

Doesn’t Minshew have some connection to the Giants coaching staff?

He has a connection to the Colts coaching staff. At least right now he does. The Colts' RBs coach (Scottie Montgomery) was Gardner's head coach while he was at East Carolina for two years.

I think his role in the NFL is backup, bridge starter at most. He'll have a chance to shine these next two weeks though, but I suspect even if he goes for 600 yards and 5 TD's in 2 weeks, he's not going to change any teams mind.

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts doubtful for matchup against Cowboys after suffering sprained shoulder

Hurts has 3,472 yards passing and 22 touchdowns, and if he can’t play, veteran passer Gardner Minshew would get the start in his place.
That's a terrible headline. "Doubtful" and "in doubt" are not the same thing. Clickbait.
FBG email said there’s word he might miss multiple weeks.

And they’ve already clinched playoffs, so if he’s a coin flip I could see Minshew getting a spot start.

@DAL is a tough matchup. Hard to miss that game. It’ll be interesting to see what happens.

Merry Christmas Mrs. Minshew. We love your son's 'stache. His QB play... not so much.

Its possible I'm lower on Minshew than most, but if Hurts is out, I think the drop off by itself is worth 7 points, so I'm going into this game thinking the Eagles have a more run heavy gameplan. and I'm expecting Dallas to win.

I'm not a Minshew fan at all, he had a few nice starts his rookie season, but has looked pretty bad since. Truthfully, I don't even think he's a particularly good backup QB.

I don't think Minshew is better than any of those guys, except maybe Darnold. Add in a rookie class with 6 solid/interesting prospects, not counting Hooker who is possibly a redshirt rookie, and I don't see Minshew's situation getting any better than it is right now.

That multiple weeks bothers me and would lead one to believe it's the Minshew show this weekend.

I'm mathematically challenged
That said I can easily see he is a lock for 2 passing TDs
22 starts and 41 pass TD,
He's not a Top 10 play vs Dallas but you don't want some 6-8 wildcard team that got lucky last week with Trevor Lawrence they slipped off waivers
Turn right around and grab this guy off waivers to use against your team this week.
I'm saying that maybe you should grab him just to block others from using him against you

Would you start him over Tua Tags? I'm guessing most say no but that is about the area you might be in here. Who do you truly trust this weekend? Joe Burrow in Foxboro? Justin Fields vs the Bills? None of these sound that appetizing

I would definitely start those guys over Minshew. Don't really see Burrow or Fields as bad matchups.

Fields has the Bills and is down a couple receivers
Maybe Buffalo doesn't feel the press after wrapping up the division last week.
I see Fields in the Top 3 this week, that seems extremely high

As a hurts owner I have to pick up somebody. Options aren't great. It's like minshew, Lawrence, Carr, or Watson. I have high priority so i can get who i want. Probably going with minshew. Expecting a couple scores but at least 1 turnover. Prob like half of Hurts production. The rest of my team is solid so hoping I can win without the mvp

Holding out hope hurts actually plays. I don't think it's serious, but they are probably going to be cautious.

minschew is a sneaky good start this week, playing behind the best line in football. Also, he gets Goeddert back and will have all their top weapons available. He’s a quick processor and has never played on a team this good. He’s more than capable of throwing for 250/2. Burrow is a better start but i’d put him on par with guys like Tua this week.

Lawrence is the play here for sure, esp if we don't know Hurts is playing next week. He's a top 5 QB in almost every format. Strange he is even avail.

Minshew has over 20 starts under his belt, he's a seasoned vet at this point, understand his role coming off the bench and has a lot to work with on offense. He won't be Hurts but I bet he can will him thru either this week or next and give Hurts a chance to be full strength.

He was on and off the WW a lot down the stretch, I had him after the draft and cut him for Fields, both of them behind Burrow. Can't hold 3 in my leagues.

I meant for the season. Not a lot of "Top 5 plays for the week" usually avail this late in the season at any position but K. Certainly is better than Minshew and if you are looking to need someone 2 weeks straight, I would prefer Lawrence.

Top-3 might be pushing it for Fields, but not worried about the matchup at all. Top-6 feels more like where I'd be. I'd be shocked if Fields had less than 90 yards rushing. He's already said he's going for Lamar's record and he needs just over 200 to get there.

Gardner Minshew completed 24-of-40 attempts for 355 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions, adding four rushing attempts for five yards and a touchdown in the Eagles' 40-34, Week 16 loss to the Cowboys.

Minshew threw both of his TDs to Devonta Smith. His third TD came on a quarterback sneak from the one-yard line. The most unstoppable play in football proved no less unstoppable with Minshew running instead of Jalen Hurts. Minshew also tossed two interceptions and was a clear downgrade from Hurts. However, his second interception was not a bad throw, and the Eagles were competitive throughout the game. Philadelphia will have a difficult decision to make in Week 17. After losing to the Cowboys, there's a case for playing Hurts if he's healthy enough. However, Minshew showed enough to think that he's capable of facilitating the Eagles' offense again next week.

a clear downgrade?? What game were they watching. Minshew played really well and had great command of the offense. He certainly lacks Jalen’s rushing ability and arm strength, but the offense still put up a ton of points in Hurts’ absence. As an owner of both guys, I’d obviously prefer to see Jalen under center against the Saints, but think Minshew will be just fine if called upon to start one more game.

Agree, was mildly thrilled (from FF perspective) with what he produced and how he looked. He really played pretty well, made some great throws under some pressure (his receivers made some great catches too). Two of his scores came on 4th down as well. Early on I was looking at Goff on my bench with some regret but he came through. The 4 turnovers, I think only one of which was really his fault, were killers.

Colts signed Gardner Minshew, formerly of the Eagles, to a one-year, $3.5 million contract.

There's likely incentives in the deal to make it more appetizing. Ian Rapoport reported this as the Colts "landing its backup." We genuinely don't know if we should believe that or not given the Colts are picking at No. 4 and not guaranteed to find a quarterback in the 2023 draft. Either way, Minshew coming aboard as a high-end backup or bridge quarterback is a smart move for the Colts and Minshew worked with head coach Shane Steichen in Philadelphia last season. Minshew finished the 2022 season with a 663/3/3 line in two starts, adding a rushing touchdown.

Would be awesome if the Colts push off a year at QB and see what happens.
If they become a contender for Top 3 draft pick again, they know how to land a No 1 slot if they really want to.
Minshew might will them into the Playoffs

Indy is absolutely picking top-5 again (maybe that's the plan?) if they go with Minshew. He's a below average backup QB. I don't know how he has so much support. Dude had an ok rookie season, where he put up solid numbers in mostly garbage time and has been bad or worse since. He was horrific when Hurts was out last year. Eagles lost 3 regular season games last year, and were 0-2 in Minshew's only starts, and both losses were on him.

A-F scale, Minshew is very much a D-, having said, that he's probably better than Ehlinger or Foles, I doubt very much he'll be any better than Ryan.

Ya the minshew act was cool for a bit but it's hit a wall.
