QB - Jake Rudock (1 Viewer)

Didn't see a thread about this guy and since there is a chance he starts this week I figure it was time.

I know Stafford is tough and very well may try and play but I think his injury is pretty significant. He refused to reveal the results of his X-Ray on a radio show. My guess is he may be dealing with a high ankle sprain. If he does try and play through it certainly would limit his effectiveness.

Rudock is a 6th Round Pick out of Michigan but also transfered from Iowa.

He posted ok numbers in college but also threw quite a few picks.

From a preseason game there is this.

He enjoyed strong chemistry with Kenny Golladay, connecting with the rookie three times for 53 yards and two touchdowns. The first of Golladay’s touchdowns was slightly underthrown, though his second was a beauty that Golladay caught on a nifty back-shoulder grab. Rudock also flashed impressive mobility on his two runs, eating up gains of 13 and 11 yards. He’ll work as Stafford’s backup in 2017.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this guy? I don't know much about him.

If he does start vs Baltimore are we looking at their 4th shutout of the season? I know I wouldn't be comfortable starting any Lions offensive players.

I liked him at Michigan, but that was only as a Michigan St. fan  :P

My memory is that he was a checkdown specialist at Iowa before losing his job to CJ Beathard. He seemed a bit more aggressive with downfield passes at UM, but not to the point I would call it a strength.

Dedicated Michigan fan here. He made really big strides in his time there. He's fairly accurate on the short to medium passes but lacks the arm strength on the deep ball. His decision making improved quite a bit too. He does have some mobility but he's slightly built and probably won't hold up using his legs. Smart guy but I just don't envision anything more than a career backup.

He showed pretty well in the preseason but I remember a pretty clean pocket playing against backups. That was a concern at U of M. He really deteriorated quick when the pocket collapsed.
