QB Jalen Hurts, PHI (3 Viewers)

...I picked up Watson a few weeks ago and almost dropped him last week. I guess if Hurts is...hurt....I'll be starting him from here on out. It's either him or Purdy/Minshew.

Goff has been pretty good this season.

I'll trade you Pickett and Mills for Goff.

be glad you have Goff as a option. I’m looking at Purdy
IDK about Goff. I know it's just initial projections, but FBG has it:

14- Pickett
16- Purdy
21- Goff
Before the injury, even Hurts was only projected at just over 20 in my league. Probably due to Cowboys allowing only 19 ppg. But they just gave up 34 in regulation last week. Which would seem to be a fluke, an "exception to the rule", but if anyone can continue that trend, Philly would definitely have a good chance.
Anyway, what I'm saying is, despite always having a huge ceiling, Hurts was not projected head and shoulders above typical backup fantasy QB's like these guys mentioned, this week anyway.

I have the choice of Watson or Minshew. The weather report for the Cleveland game is predicting 30-50 mph winds. That sounds like a recipe for CLE to run Chubb and Hunt the entire game.

Not sure how I feel about that. Hurts in my leagues had projections way higher than those other guys. Now.... we might have played it safe with him and designed less runs since the game doesn't matter too much for Philly anyways, so that was always a concern. And he did have his worst fantasy game of the year vs the Cowboys already. So maybe it can be a blessing in disguise but more so if you have a capable backup

I would look somewhere else. Weather and Watson's terribleness thus far makes him basically unplayable to me.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I would still sell a small portion of my soul to have him play. I'm trying to rationalize, okay??? 🙃

I'm actually starting to feel better about it since I do really think he would run a lot less and we'd play vanilla offense and Cowboys D will show up to play. If I had a backup that is.... I have none so this will be rough.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said Jalen Hurts (shoulder) and Gardner Minshew would prepare to play in Week 16.

"We’re going to have to have a plan for both guys to play," Sirianni told reporters Tuesday, a day after news broke that Hurts suffered a shoulder injury that could keep him sidelined for the next week or two. “I don’t put anything past Jalen Hurts. There’s a chance he could play this week." Look for the Eagles to play coy with Hurts' Week 16 availability against divisional rival Dallas in hopes of keeping the Cowboys from preparing specifically for Minshew. Hurts drafters should make other plans for fantasy semifinal week.

Jalen Hurts (shoulder) was not seen at the start of practice on Wednesday.

Hurts will get his second straight DNP tag of the week later today. He looks incredibly unlikely to play in Week 16. Assuming he can't go, Gardner Minshew will draw the start. Playing with an incredible supporting cast, Minshew would have some life as a streaming QB2.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni won't rule out Jalen Hurts (shoulder) playing in Week 17 against the Saints.

Hurts missed last week's game against the Cowboys with a SC joint sprain in his shoulder and could be held out for at least one more game. With a playoff berth already secured, the Eagles have a chance to secure home-field advantage throughout the playoffs with one more win, but whether or not he'll have an opportunity to secure that in Week 17 seems very much up in the air. If Hurts is unable to go, we would once again be looking at another exciting week of Minshew Mania.

Waiting for more info on Hurts. Just acquired Minshew and Daniel Jones. Unfortunately, I’ve been rolling with only Tua on my team. My lineup is set for the title, except QB.

ESPN's Dan Graziano reports Jalen Hurts (shoulder) might not be fully recovered by the Eagles' first playoff game.

"The impression I get from talking to people about this situation is that the Eagles believe they will have Hurts back before their first playoff game, but they still aren't sure about the extent to which the injury will affect him once he does return," Graziano said. Philly's opening playoff game will likely be in the divisional round, meaning Hurts would have Wild Card Weekend to continue rehabbing from the shoulder injury he sustained in Week 15 against Chicago. Though head coach Nick Sirianni insists Hurts has a chance to suit up this week against the Saints, Gardner Minshew will get another start. Minshew is the top streaming QB option for Week 17.

Ditto. Have Tua and picked up Jones two weeks ago just in case, and picked up Minshew for a potential start over Jones perhaps. Yes, waiting on Friday practice and injury status on Hurts.

I also had Tua as my Hurts backup. I'm playing in the championship game this week. Another owner grabbed Minshew, didn't even realize it until I went to grab him this week. The waiver wire is bare, I might have to role with someone like Mike White or Colt McCoy. Brutal!

I thought I read Hurts was practicing with the first team ahead of Minshew at Thursday's practice. But the articles posted above look much more doubtful he suits up.

The media seems to be favoring a potential Hurts return while everywhere else I look I see 0.00. Yahoo see Minshew as not starting, while FBG's have him a top 7 pick this week. Next up is Mike White.

FWIW, none of the videos from practice had him throwing much. I would go 80% he's not playing. Can't imagine they put him out there if he can't make the throws yet, and thats still a ??. Maybe he can - just haven't seen it.

Sirianni is going to leave us guessing for as long as possible, because he wants to leave the Saints guessing for as long as possible.

He made throws the last game he played. Can't convince me he finished the game and "now" he can't throw. Just gamesmanship.

My friend, why do you have Tua?
He's OUT
Cut him, you'll feel better

Choices are limited this week, was an investor in Minshew but it sounds like Hurts might start

I'm waiting for the right time and person. Our league goes 18 weeks too.

Edit: It's Danny Dimes or Minshew Magic for me this week. Tua is kept for a possible return next week or drop for an upgrade somewhere else.

Officially listed as Doubtful. I don't think he's going to play. This is just gamesmanship from Siriani.

Don't think any 'doubtful' player has played this year in the whole league. He's out, but I imagine if we lose this week then he will suit up week 18

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Jalen Hurts (shoulder) is still not 100 percent healthy.

Hurts was absent from the Divisional Round injury report, but all that means is that the issue did not affect his practice participation. Hurts himself has basically admitted he's still not over the injury he first suffered in Week 15. That was five weeks ago, but Hurts had to play a game in the interim. The only way a football player fully heals a mid-season shoulder ailment is offseason rest. Hopefully it does not affect Hurts' rushing mindset against the Giants in the Divisional Round.

Jalen Hurts completed 16-of-24 attempts for 154 yards and two touchdowns in the Eagles' 38-7, Divisional Round win over the Giants, adding 34 yards and a touchdown on nine carries.

Hurts and the Eagles were in control from the start, taking the opening possession 75 yards for a touchdown, generating a turnover on downs near midfield on the Giants' subsequent possession, and then scoring again on their second drive of the game. Things went downhill for the Giants in a hurry from there, trailing 28-0 at half after managing only 64 total yards of offense in the first two frames. In typical Philadelphia fashion, the Eagles were able to take their feet off the gas in the second half, scoring only a late field goal and a garbage time rushing touchdown from Kenneth Gainwell as they nursed the mammoth lead. Most notably, Hurts looked to have shed the ill effects of the late-season shoulder injury that caused him to miss two games as he looked comfortable escaping the pocket after attempting zero red zone rushes on five red zone trips in Week 18. Hurts and the Eagles await the winner of the Dallas and San Francisco game on Sunday to see who they host for the NFC Championship game next week.

Funny how obvious this season was for Hurts. Can't believe so many doubted him. This thread is a trip to go back and read through.

ESPN's Dan Graziano expects the Eagles to sign Jalen Hurts to an extension "early in the offseason."

Hurts joins Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert as extension-eligible this offseason, but unlike those two quarterbacks, Hurts will essentially be entering his walk year in 2023 because the Eagles don't have a fifth-year option on him. "They know the price has likely gone to $50 million a year or more," writes Graziano. Philadelphia's starting quarterback has made himself a mint with this fine season and will look to cap it with a Lombardi trophy later tonight.

Jalen Hurts completed 27-of-38 passes for 304 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles' 38-35, Super Bowl LVII loss to the Chiefs, adding 15 carries for 70 yards and three additional touchdowns.

Hurts also lost a fluky fumble that was unfortunately returned for a touchdown. Hurts' three rushing scores were not only a quarterback Super Bowl record, they tied Terrell Davis' record for any player. Although his shoulder injury was clearly a factor on a few underthrown deep balls, Hurts did everything within his power to will the Eagles to a title, threading a number of beautiful needles through the air. It just wasn't enough. Supposedly still a question mark entering the regular season, third-year pro Hurts emerged as a legitimate MVP candidate, with his case only petering out after he injured his shoulder in Week 15. Hurts produced 10-plus rushing scores for the second straight year, and might have won the rushing touchdown crown without the ailment. As it was, he had to “settle” for 13 TDs on the ground. The real news was through the air, where Hurts took advantage of new No. 1 receiver A.J. Brown to come into his own as an NFL passer. He posted new passing career highs across the board, finishing as a second-team All-Pro behind his Super Bowl opponent Patrick Mahomes. Although Hurts may never become an elite deep ball thrower, his passing has progressed to the point that he is now arguably the most dangerous dual-threat in the league over Lamar Jackson. He’s also due to get paid as he heads into the final year of his rookie deal. A savvy Eagles front office figures to extend Hurts this summer rather than franchise tagging him in 2024 and waiting for quarterback salaries to soar ever higher.

Hurts played great. His postgame comments were thoughtful and demonstrated (again) he is a high quality person and a great leader. Same guy was thrilled for Tua and his team when he got benched in the National title game.

Gets knocked down, learns from it, comes back stronger. Terrific athlete and an even better human.
