QB Jaxson Dart, NYG (2 Viewers)

Hopefully they dont burn him out... you can't possibly fathom these stiffs he's throwing to. Wandale is a gadget player, Theo Johnson is a big stone handed Frankenstein goof and those are the standouts.

Calling designed runs down 3 scores in the 4th quarter again for Daboll to put window dressing on this piece of crap team.

You get him Nabers and another weapon next year, make Wandale a WR3, its gonna get interesting

Seeing what just happened to Daniels, hoping they’ll eventually have him run less even if it’s a big part of his game. Having a healthy Nabers back should help make that happen.

My first thought, perhaps why you fire Daboll or extend him. This is untenable with him as a marginal guy to save his own hide

How is he this good? Imagine if he had a Oline, RB, and Nabers. What a steal for the Giants. He would without a doubt be the overall #1 pick folks knew his capabilities.

He’s a ******** stud, I’ll gladly take him inside my top 5 QBs in dynasty.

He looks so much like Josh Allen to me

(insert everything you know of concussions and rookie QBs with interim coaches)

Would you be having a hard discussion about sitting him the rest of the year?

As long as he's good to go and not rushed out there, I think developing a culture of winning, in particular around this QB, is important enough to keep him out there.

But if he's getting no protection, or running recklessly with no sign of learning to slide and avoid contact, then yeah, the string would have to be pulled at some point.

The next coach has to really work with him to run more opportunistically and with less reckless abandon. If Nabers gets back to form, that should certainly help.

A hard discussion yes. But if I’m the interim coach, selfishly I want him out there.

It wouldn’t be a discussion at all for me. He plays and continues to develop.

No way I am sitting him the rest of the year, but I am definitely giving him a couple weeks off to catch his breath and get his head straight (literally and figuratively), even if he passes the protocol. Then I get him back in there with a new set of guidelines, including limiting design run calls (not eliminating them totally) and consistently staying after him to sacrifice the extra yard for self-preservation. And if he continues to lower his shoulder and deliver hits he needs to be held accountable for it by the coaching staff, not applauded for it like he was by his last coach. Benching him the rest of the year throws away a large chunk of games he can use to refine and develop these traits and just pushes that development process into next year. Next year he needs to be ready to go, not still learning about how to slide.

He reminds me a of a young Bert Jones. Jones ran with abandon and sacrificed his body running the ball and never did a slide in his life as far as I can remember. He paid the price. Had he stayed healthy he would definitely have been a HOFer. Bill Belichick called him the best pure passer he had ever seen and that includes Tom Brady.

@SNYGiants
Jaxson Dart was asked if he needs to change anything about his game after four visits to the medical tent in his first eight games:

"The narrative's not necessarily accurate of four concussion checks. I was taken into the tent three of those times for things that had nothing to do with my head. They have their own operation of kind of how they handle things.

I'm still getting used to this game. I'm getting used to the speed of this level. In college, you can watch my tape, I very rarely slid. But this is a different beast. So, for me, I’ve got to be obviously a little bit more responsible when I'm in the open field. But I felt like, quite honestly, I was getting better at it each and every week."

Jaxson Dart hasn’t learned anything

This was an issue for Dart at Ole Miss as well. You appreciate the ingrained toughness, but welcoming hits has always been his play style.

He needs to make changes if he wants to see a second contract.
His post-gamer presser was troubling regarding his "aggressive" (aka reckless) style of play.

If that LB knocking him into the bleachers didn't get his attention... nothing will. It's hard to imagine getting hit harder than that without damage.

He did learn, he did start getting down

Sideline hit should have been a penalty, he had a foot on the white, rookies don't get those calls but was also targeting as well, he was running for a first down, dont love seeing those hits but they look worse than they are

I was more concerned with him being surrounded by this broken team of losers, defense did not standup for the offense at all as the Pats teed off them all night.

Wish they'd find a way to sit him the rest of the way, if Taylor's out for a few games (or the season at this point) its just a disaster from here out.

You can thank Patrick Mahomes for ^that^. He was the one that started breaking the "gentlemen's agreement" with QBs getting out of bounds. He started doing the "OK, let up I'm jogging out of bounds... PSYCHE, I'm tiptoeing up the sidelines for another five!"

Teams were put on notice this year that QBs in the field of play will be treated like any other ball carrier. Those trying to steal a couple extra yards along the sidelines might be especially vulnerable to taking hits.

Dart needs to learn to get out of bounds or start learning how to eat lunch through a straw

You can't take hits like that as a QB. It was perfectly legal as Dart isn't moving to go OOB before Eliss gets there. You want to not get hit? Move out 2 yards earlier. At this point it's hurting the team now and his lack of awareness about this is stunning.

I couldn't agree more. It should not be about him and what he wants, it should be about the team and what it needs.
Giants need to lock in Winston or another high quality backup for a few years now. Dart is really good, but cannot be trusted to protect himself, so they need to have a really good backup always ready to go.

And for FF purposes, Dart is a great best ball QB, but not one you can trust in normal leagues. Until he shows otherwise, he is a guy who might get you almost nothing before getting knocked out of a game taking a hit most other QBs would have been smart enough to not take.

He had his worst fantasy game by far because of matchup and lack of designed runs. If he’s not running for 60 and TD, he’s basically Cam Ward. As an owner, I’m worried about the fantasy playoffs.
Agreed. That was his first game without Daboll and what was missing... as you said... ZERO (0) designed runs. All his rushes/yards vs NEP were off of scrambles.

He's droppable in redraft. Unless you are prepared to watch him handoff 30 times/game as the NYG tank their season (along with your fantasy playoff team).

I haven’t went back and looked but live and on replay it clearly looked like a legal hit to me. Dart had slowed but was very clearly still in bounds. Needs to get out quicker if he wants to avoid those in the future.

I’m more concerned whether this coach can get the team to play hard. If so I’m not that concerned with Dart
I'm more concerned with the obvious decision to throw in the towel before halftime on Monday. Clearly the NYG had no intention of trying to make a game of it before halftime. They did a better job of killing the clock than New England did.

Giants are not going to have Dart run much any more this season I would assume by how they are talking
if he is not running then he is not worth a roster spot as that is what made him worth having

I will be dropping him this week for a WR as I need help there, he is my backup and do not see good things the rest of the season
from him without calling running plays for him

Agree 100%. I want a team going for it and fighting. These players and coaches should be fighting for their jobs/careers and have some pride. Like the Commanders did against the Broncos. The Giants didn’t look like that team.
