Surprised to see Miami as such a definite favorite.

+150 to Miami seems ludicrous with all the possible iterations that could happen.Surprised to see Miami as such a definite favorite.
Not if he remains a top half 1st round pick. While the smart thing is obviously to choose baseball gotta give the kid props for choosing what he truly wants to play. Can’t see too many positives with the football choice so wish him the best of luck.

And depends entirely upon the definition of “smart.” Fame? Gotta be as a franchise QB in the NFL. Easiest path to instant stardom? NFL. Money? Really depends upon his success in either sport. Long-term mental health? MLB, without question. Not if he remains a top half 1st round pick.

Financially is all that matters in the end? Boy, go tell that to the countless NFL players with CTE. Bet a lot of them and their families would disagree that financially is all that matters if they could do it all over again.Financially is all that matters at the end.
The NFL is the smart move assuming he doesn't drop in the draft. He has $5mill in baseball, and I dont hear anyone sounding all that sure he would make it to the big leagues. Minor league life is not sexy.
Mental health? I don't see how you quantify that.
Yeah that’s fair. My use of smart was in regards to potential career longevity and chance of physically debilitating life long issues. If he wants to be “the man” for a few years and all the perks that come with being an NFL QB then baseball won’t hold a light to it. I feel like it’s a lot harder to stand out in baseball and he could end up JAG.And depends entirely upon the definition of “smart.” Fame? Gotta be as a franchise QB in the NFL. The reason it could be considered “smart” to choose baseball, is he’d have a near zero chance of having a mushed brain that misfires regularly when he reaches his 40s and 50s. That’s how I’m quantifying mental health. Now the risks for QBs are lessened in today’s game, but they still exist.
Agree with you 100% that the path to MLB through the minors would suck, with far more risk that his career in baseball flames out when compared to football. Financially, I think he he’s more of a sure thing in the NFL too. But I wouldn’t fault anyone for choosing the professional path in baseball over football, as that still sets you up for life and protects your health far more than football. And it might just be the “smart” choice.
Well we’re talking his options of football vs baseball, so I suppose those are the only two sports I care about in this discussion.Football is the only sport with CTE?
He already played years and years of football.. do only NFL football players get CTE?
Seems to me that shipped already sailed.
KYLER MURRAYQB, COLLEGE PLAYER
NBC Sports' Peter King reports Kyler Murray is up to 206 pounds.
Murray's height -- likely below 5-foot-10 -- has gotten a lot of ink heading into the Combine, but his slight frame could end up being a bigger concern for scouts. If this report is true, however, it would show Murray has the ability to put on some more weight. As of last week, Murray had yet to decide if he will participate during the throwing drills at the Combine.
.
NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah ranks Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray 14th on his updated 2019 NFL Draft Board.
That's a huge jump for Murray, who ranked 29th on the previous edition of Jeremiah's board. That makes him the highest rated signal-caller on the list; four spots ahead of Ohio State's Dwayne Haskins. The commitment to football clearly helps Murray, as does the fact that this quarterback class -- while there's plenty of quantity -- lacks a bit in quality. Jeremiah cites concerns about his durability, but believes Murray "has the tools to be an NFL starter." Jeremiah also has heard that the quarterback has "bulked up" to 206 pounds, which could help the signal-caller handle blows from NFL pass-rushers more effectively.

NFL.com's Tom Pelissero spoke with multiple evaluators who expressed uneasiness with the drama surrounding Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray.
One college scouting director told Pelissero, "The question is, OK, if he doesn't go to a team he wants, does he leave for baseball? If he's not starting or getting his way, is he going to go to baseball?," while an NFC exec said that he a drafting team could not "ever really feel comfortable" with Murray's proclamations that he is now solely ready for a career in football. An NFC personnel director put it all in more colorful terms, saying that "f you draft that guy, you've got to have some big balls." In his final pre-combine mock, Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline pegged Murray to the Redskins at No. 15, but he's very much in play for a top-10 selection, with top-five not out of the realm of possibility should a team fall in love over the next two months.

Oklahoma HC Lincoln Riley denied reports that QB Kyler Murray's father, Kevin Murray, is "running the shots."
A report from NFL.com's Tom Pelissero on Tuesday states that teams are "uneasy" dealing with Murray, with some questioning his desire for football, and others wondering if Kevin was going to be someone they needed to deal with. Riley states that he never had one conversation with Kevin Murray about anything football related, and emphasized that the quarterback is giving up baseball because of his love of the game. This all seems a bit silly, but we can't control how teams feel about the star signal-caller. We'll see if these "concerns" still exist after the interviews at the combine.

5’7 eh... good call.Who has made this up? I don't know how tall he is.. what I know is that his listed heights have him shrinking twice since highschool, he doesn't do interviews with women in heels, his strength coach is defending him by throwing out the shortest height yet and telling us he wore socks.
I am leaning 5'7" myself, I have said I will take what the combine says.
UNACCEPTABLE MAN! UNACCEPTABLE I SAY!
Kyler Murray weighed in at 5-foot-10, 207 pounds at the Combine.
In fact, he was a shade over 5-foot-10 despite persistent rumors about his size. Perhaps even more importantly, his hands measured in at 9 1/2 inches. His height and weight will still undoubtedly be brought up as we move toward the draft, but these numbers, which compare favorably to Russell Wilson, have to be considered big wins for the Murray camp.

I said I'd believe it when I saw it.5’7 eh... good call.
No way in a QB1 league. Oh you meant overall real nfl. That could happenCrap. I took the under.
So much for that tempest in a teapot. Murray could well be in line for a top 5 pick. Dare he even dream about 1.01?
According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, Kyler Murray has informed multiple NFL scouts and personnel people that it is unlikely that he will throw at this week's NFL Scouting Combine.
Murray (5'10 1/8", 207) not participating in the passing drills in Indianapolis would not be much of a surprise, as it's quite common for high-level QB prospects to do so at a private workout or their alma mater's pro day instead. But it is worth noting that in Rapoport's report the writer stated that the Heisman Trophy winner could change his mind after seeing the other quarterbacks throw due to his competitive nature.

Arizona has to be high fiving right now. They should get some incredible offers for 1.01 and the Cardinals really need the picks as their roster sucks. He’s the #1 in the draft whether Arizona or somebody trading up.
I would bet on Murray being a 1st round dynasty pick.I think Murray could be absolute fantasy gold. Lamar Jackson levels of running but can throw the ball accurately ? Sign me up. Will be really interested to see where he starts getting drafted in dynasty rookie drafts
sorta sad he wasn't a shade under 510 than a shade over... dreams of Kyler in Miami have been dashed.as a Dolphins fan, I'm crossing fingers he lands in Miami, and frankly, if they feel strongly about him I wouldn't mind if they went up to get him.
Ain't puberty fantastic?Wait .... wasnt murray like 5'6" and shrinking a couple of weeks ago!!!
Crazy thing is none of the teams with top 5 picks really need a QB. or at least might not - you could argue Arizona, Oakland or Tampa should take him but those QBs at least have a chance to be franchise guys.
Murray and/or Haskins will go top 5. There has only been one draft in the last decade where at least one QB didn’t go top 5.Crazy thing is none of the teams with top 5 picks really need a QB. or at least might not - you could argue Arizona, Oakland or Tampa should take him but those QBs at least have a chance to be franchise guys.

It hasn't happened often. To me it's less about Miami coming up and more about Arizona being willing to drop that far back.
