QB Mac Jones, SF (1 Viewer)

So, expecting Jones to be fined to essentially twisting Brian Burns ankle and injuring him. 

I also wonder if Jones just opened himself up to some defensive targeting. Not saying that would be fair, but perhaps to be expected.

I read about this...is there a video?  Hard to form an opinion about intent to injure, etc, that would factor into level of interest for payback, etc. with some video context....

So the guy who got hurt, had to leave the game and is set to have an MRI on the injury embellished quite a bit?  Seems like he was really hurt.

Burns didn't get hurt from being held back, either. He was hurt by the intentional twisting Jones did.

I doubt there will be a fine. IIRC, on a fumble / onside kick / live ball on the field of play situation, there is a suspension of regular rules and it's literally anything goes when there is a loose ball. It's basically a scrum and players can beat the snots out of each other.

In this case, Jones grabs the defender's ankle. Jones said he thought the defender had the ball. Whether he did or not, I believe grabbing him would be considered legal.

As far as intent, I don't think he twisted the defender's leg. That part just happened when he tried to slip out of Jones' grasp.

Poor choice of words on my part - I meant it didn’t look like the twist was solely caused by Jones, Burns was twisting as well if that makes sense.

like I said earlier I hope he gets suspended.

It sure looked intentional to me. Watched a few clips of it, and I guess it could be interpreted another way. But that twist at the end - looked like he wasn't trying to just stop or contain him.

 
I don't think we can ignore that the defender went to step on Jones' torso (the way he moved his leg to plant was not a natural move towards the ball following the fumble; he was trying to sneak in a stomp to Jones), and Jones blocked it and took him down.  I doubt Mac was trying to intentionally injure him.  I don't think he should be fined or suspended.  And considering how often defensive players pull dirty stuff in piles and whatnot, it is hilarious to hear some #####ing about this.  I get it, though, they are mad that you can't sneeze on a QB in 2021 without it being a penalty, and then a QB takes down one of their own, but that doesn't change that this was mostly a big nothing.

There are close to no rules when there is a fumble. As in provisions for normal penalties get thrown out the window. In a regular situation, that would be offensive holding or a personal foul. But with the ball on the carpet, there is no holding and even personal fouls get overlooked. If you want to say that the outcome (injured player) was a bad outcome, I agree. But I am not even sure what the refs could have called as a penalty there. If they felt Jones went completely out of his way to maim a player without any consideration for the play, even that doesn’t really align as Jones was in the area of the fumble.

Oh they'll line up all day to defend it, NO MATTER WHAT.  You know this, he's their guy now.

It will read like a court room transcript in here if you stand your ground on this.

Some basic physics here....are we to believe that scrawny Mac Jones is able to injur the big defender here?  The video clearly demonstrates a flop trying to secure a penalty flag.

It was intentional.

You're allowed to grab someone's leg and sweep their other leg with your leg?

The play looked kind of dirty/dangerous to me, but I'm not up in arms about it or anything.
