QB Pennington Wins Competition, Named Starter

QB Chad Pennington will line up under center for the Jets in the season opener on September 10 against Tennessee, after winning the four-man quarterback competition. HC Eric Mangini made the announcement on Tuesday, three days before New York will wrap up the preseason against Philadelphia. Pennington will not play in the exhibition finale.

Not much of a surprise here in NY. You sorta knew this was coming. Its still Pennington's team imo... and he is a winner. Now, the question is can he hold up or throw for 30+ yards. if he can come close, he will be fine as an NFL QB, and ok as a starter for two QB leagues or an emergency bye filler.

Agreed - not exactly a big secret. As for the offense overall, however, it's also not a big secret that points will likely be scarce. :(

Yeah we all expected it, however with so many drafts going on this week, I thought a little concrete would ease some minds. With a new head coach anything could have happened. Points are another matter entirely
