It might be an upgrade when Matt Barkley(who they signed today) takes over, which shouldn't take long.zoonation said:I am seeing some people say this might actually be a slight upgrade for Moore. I doubt it.
Just snap it directly to CMC and have Chuba in the backfield with him. Run the old Nebraska offense.lol Matt Barkley is awful... the panthers just need to admit they were completely wrong and literally get rid of all of their QBs. They should sign Cam Newton and Tim Tebow, and have a dual QB offense. The season is over. It would be fun to watch and better than this pile of crap
Looks like they might sign Cam Newton back !! haha. I'd honestly actually start watching the games again if they re-sign him. He is finally healthy. They should have let him play out his contract year and earn it. That was a mistake they way they let him go.Just snap it directly to CMC and have Chuba in the backfield with him. Run the old Nebraska offense.
ETA: I'd probably prefer Barkley to Darnold if I'm being honest.
Should have never got rid of Cam in the first place. Not that he's the answer, more that they wasted time/money/resources trying to replace him, while only getting worse.Looks like they might sign Cam Newton back !! haha. I'd honestly actually start watching the games again if they re-sign him. He is finally healthy. They should have let him play out his contract year and earn it. P.J. Walker will remain the Panthers' Week 10 starter following Thursday's signing of Cam Newton.
Newton is expected to practice on Friday, but there is simply no way he could get up to speed on OC Joe Brady's system in time for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. We would expect Newton to be active as the emergency No. 2, however, with Sam Darnold (shoulder) on injured reserve. As for Walker, the former XFL show has shown extremely little in bit play over the past two seasons. We would not be expecting any superflex miracles against the run-funnel Cardinals.

P.J. Walker is expected to start in Week 6 against the Rams.
Walker is in line to make his third career start with the Panthers after Baker Mayfield was diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain on Monday. In his two career starts, Walker is 2-0, throwing for 425 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. Walker takes over a Panthers offense that ranks dead last in EPA/play (-0.158) and 31st in success rate at 37.2-percent. Walker's first start of the season comes fresh off the dismissal of Matt Rhule, with interim head coach Steve Wilks now at the helm. It should go without saying that this is a situation to avoid for fantasy purposes.

P.J. Walker will start for the Panthers in Week 6 against the Rams.
Mayfield, struggling with a high ankle sprain, is listed as doubtful for Week 6, though the Panthers reportedly hope he can suit up as Walker's backup for reasons we cannot explain. Walker will take on a tough LA defense giving up the 12th lowest EPA per play through Week 5. Walker has been horrific in spot duty, throwing two touchdowns in eight interceptions in ten appearances since 2020. The Rams defense is the top fantasy option for this week and Walker is unplayable in all formats.

P.J. Walker went 10-of-16 for 60 scoreless yards with a carry for -1 yards before being was forced from Carolina's Week 6 loss to the Rams with a neck injury.
Walker took a head shot on a fourth quarter sack by Jalen Ramsey. He was evaluated for a concussion but eventually cleared. Jacob Eason finished the game under center and led one of the Panthers' only good drives, one fueled by Christian McCaffrey yards after the catch. The Panthers seemed terrified of letting Walker do anything other than hand the ball off and were rewarded with 203 yards of total offense. Baker Mayfield (ankle) had a "doubtful" tag for Week 6 and could perhaps be rushed back to start against the Bucs in Week 7. If Mayfield isn't ready, the Panthers might be better off giving Eason a look than Walker another start.

P.J. Walker completed 16-of-22 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns in Carolina's Week 7, 21-3 win over Tampa Bay.
Walker's hilarious Week 6 showing was opened up a little in Week 7, as his intended air yards per target was a more manageable 8.2 and he managed a well-placed end zone go ball to D.J. Moore over Mike Edwards. He tacked on a deep touchdown against Cover-3 to Tommy Tremble as they bled time late in the game. Walker will not be a recommended option if he starts in Week 8 against the Falcons, but he played better in this game than we imagined he would have.

Translation: I need a reason to keep Baker out and can't go back to Sam.
Panthers interim head coach Steve Wilks said P.J. Walker will start in Week 9 against the Bengals.
Walker had a career day in the team's Week 8 loss to the Falcons, throwing for 317/1/1, with his lone touchdown coming on a 62-yard pass to D.J. Moore late in the fourth quarter. Walker has thrown for 544 yards, three touchdowns and one interception since being named as the Panthers' starter in Week 6. Even with a 34-point performance on Sunday, Carolina's offense is difficult to trust. He's nothing more than a desperate play in 2QB/superflex leagues against the Bengals and can be kept off the fantasy radar in 1QB leagues.

I agree with the last sentence about being desperate if you need to play him in 2QB/SF leagues, but it's also desperate playing some of the proven incumbents. That's just where we are with the QB landscape these days.Panthers interim head coach Steve Wilks said P.J. Walker will start in Week 9 against the Bengals.

Agreed - I could see a big flop next week against CincyThat was probably the best game a Panthers QB has played since Cam.
P.J. Walker completed 3-of-10 passes for nine yards and two interceptions in Carolina's Week 9, 42-21 loss to the Bengals.
Walker was replaced at half in favor of incumbent starter Baker Mayfield after the team fell to a 35-0 deficit. The Panthers mustered only one first down with Walker at the helm, which came on an illegal contact penalty on the team's fifth possession of the game. He somehow managed to throw more interceptions in the first half than the team's first downs, which ultimately led to his benching as the team started Baker Mayfield after the break. It appears the Panthers' coaching staff has a decision to make as far as who the starting quarterback will be as they prepare to host the visiting Falcons in Week 10.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports the Panthers will start P.J. Walker on Thursday night against the Falcons.
Walker was benched at halftime of Sunday's 42-21 loss to the Bengals after completing three of 10 passes for nine yards and two interceptions in the first half. The Panthers also activated Sam Darnold on Monday, but a short week to prepare for the Falcons will give Walker at least one more start this season. Carolina's quarterback situation will be a carousel through the remainder of the year, as Darnold and Baker Mayfield could also see starts in the team's final seven games of the regular season. Walker had a career game against the Falcons in Week 8, throwing for 317 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the overtime loss, so it's possible another solid outing on Thursday night could be in store. However, he'll be hard to trust for fantasy purposes after last week's benching.

P.J. Walker completed 10-of-16 passes for 108 yards in the Panthers' 25-15, Week 10 win over the Falcons, adding three rushes for 14 additional yards.
Despite the scoreless, interception-less line, more than one of Walker's missed connections were dropped INTs, including one that should have been a pick-six. Walker was mostly tasked with handing the ball off in conditions that descended into driving rain, and the Panthers ended up running up 47/232/2 on the ground. It was probably enough for Walker to keep his job for another game headed into Week 11 against the Ravens but not enough to get him into the streamer mix.
Nov 10, 2022, 11:38 PM ET
Panthers head coach Steve Wilks said he expects P.J. Walker to start in Week 11 against the Ravens.
Walker "led" the Panthers to a Week 10 win over the Falcons with 108 yards on 16 pass attempts in another massively run heavy game plan for Carolina. The Panther ran roughshod over the Falcons for 232 yards and two scores in an ugly Thursday night victory. Walker has been mostly terrible as Carolina's starter this season but remains an upgrade over Baker Mayfield, the NFL's worst quarterback, according to EPA. Walker should only be rostered in deeper superflex leagues.

Panthers HC Steve Wilks told reporters that P.J. Walker (ankle) is out for Week 11 against the Ravens.
Baker Mayfield will get the start. This can be seen as a downgrade for D.J. Moore, given that he has had zero chemistry with Mayfield this season. It could also be a downgrade for the offense overall, given how poorly Mayfield has played this season. Walker is dealing with a high ankle sprain and it's possible that this is not a one-week absence. In that case the Panthers could use the injury as an excuse to get another look at Sam Darnold, who will back up Mayfield in Week 11.

Bears signed QB P.J. Walker, formerly of the Panthers, to a two-year contract.
Walker parlayed an elite showing XFL stint into three seasons with the Carolina Panthers. Serving as a backup and even a third-stringer for the team, he ultimately made seven starts in that span. Walker has generally struggled when thrust into the lineup. He has five touchdowns and 11 interceptions while averaging 6.4 yards per throw. Walker's best work came in 2022, so the hope will be that he can keep progressing into a quality backup for the Bears. Despite Walker's shortcomings, he may still be an upgrade over Chicago's backups from last year, Trevor Siemian and Nathan Peterman.

247 Sport’s Brad Stainbrook reports P.J. Walker will start for Deshaun Watson in Week 6 if he can’t play.
With Waston still dealing with a shoulder injury, Walker will get the nod over Dorian Thompson-Robinson. DTR started against the Ravens in Week 4 and proceeded to throw three interceptions on the way to the Browns losing 28-3. Walker would provide a veteran presence if Watson is absence.

#Browns P.J. Walker takes the first team reps during practice on Thursday and might face the #49ers
Browns coach Kevin Stefanski announced P.J. Walker will start in Week 8 against the Seahawks.
Deshaun Watson will be back on the sidelines while he attempts to recover from the shoulder injury that has bothered him since Week 3. Walker is averaging 5.6 yards per attempt with three interceptions and no touchdowns across two appearances this year. Though one of those resulted in a win, his presence under center is a nightmare for the Cleveland passing attack. Amari Cooper will hang around the WR2/3 border for Walker’s third start while all other pass-catchers for the Browns can be left on the bench in fantasy leagues.
