They did bring in Robert Woods and drafted Burks highly, so I wouldn't say they're not spending on WRs. Of course, Woods may be spent and Burks may take time to develop.

Woods is nowhere near a #1. When a team doesnt have a #1, the whole core is useless. Burks may be that guy at some point, but it isnt right now.

Correct. This is why true #1 WRs command so much $$$$$$. I think PHI paying AJ Brown 25M is paying off for them!
 

Ryan Tannehill completed 19-of-27 passes for 264 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the Titans' 24-22, Week 3 victory over the Raiders, adding four carries for an additional two yards and a touchdown.​


Tannehill led the Titans to a 24-10 lead at half by completing 14 of his first 17 pass attempts, throwing for one touchdown and adding one on the ground before the end of the second quarter. The team came out flat in the second half, which allowed the Raiders room to mount an impressive comeback - ultimately falling a two-point conversion short in the final minutes of the game. 15 of Tannehill's 27 pass attempts were directed at Robert Woods and Derrick Henry in an offensive game plan that was largely biased towards the short areas of the field. It was a step in the right direction for the now 1-2 Titans as they gear up for an AFC South divisional matchup with the 1-1-1 Colts in Week 4.

Ryan Tannehill completed 17-of-21 passes for 137 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Titans' 24-17, Week 4 victory over the Colts, adding five carries for an additional nine yards.​


The Titans led 24-10 at half and scored zero second-half points for the second consecutive week. This is also the second game of the season that Tannehill has attempted 21 or fewer passes, clearly highlighting how the Titans are trying to win games this season. They are clearly going to have to fix their second half woes moving forward if they want to be able to put games away through Henry and the run game. Tannehill and the Titans now look forward to the 1-3 Commanders on the road in Week 5, a game they could find themselves playing with a thinned pass-catching corps after Treylon Burks was forced from their Week 4 game in the fourth quarter with a foot injury.

Ryan Tannehill (ankle) did not practice Thursday.​

He was on the field and watched during the open period of practice, but didn't take any snaps as far as reporters saw. Malik Willis would take over against the Texans in Week 8 if Tannehill wasn't able to get cleared. It seems possible that this is just managing a pain-tolerance issue as Tannehill played through it in Week 7, albeit with few actual throws.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill is expected to miss Week 8 against the Texans.​

It makes sense considering Tannehill started the week with a "DNP" as he dealt with an ankle injury before missing Friday's practice and Saturday's walkthrough with an illness. Rookie third-round quarterback Malik Willis is in line to start after taking all the first-team practice repetitions this week. Although unlikely to produce streamer-worthy fantasy scores, the presence of a dual threat quarterback should open up running lines for Derrick Henry, with the Texans less likely to be able to stack the box against him now. Tannehill's next chance for game action will come in a Week 9 trip to Arrowhead to face the surging Chiefs on Sunday Night Football.

Titans coach Mike Vrabel said Ryan Tannehill (ankle) will "do some things" in practice Wednesday.​

Tannehill missed Week 8 because of the ankle injury. He got in a very limited practice on Thursday but did not participate on Friday or in the team's Saturday walkthrough. He will be given a very light workload today. If he can't play in Week 9, Malik Willis will get his second career start. Willis struggled as a passer last week but should offer some rushing value in the Titans' upcoming matchup with the Chiefs.

Titans coach Mike Vrabel said that Ryan Tannehill (ankle) is questionable and will be a game-time decision for Week 9 against the Chiefs.​

Tannehill got back on the practice field today, enough to be called limited, but it sure didn't seem like he was as involved in the practice as he could have been. He did not participate in the stretch and came on to the field late. It will be a pain-tolerance issue for Week 9, but getting out on the practice field in any capacity gives him more of a chance than he had in Week 8. We'd consider Tannehill truly questionable.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Titans QB Ryan Tannehill traveled with the team ahead of Sunday Night Football against the Chiefs.​

Tannehill cleared the first hurdle as he attempts to return from a one-game absence, traveling with the team to Kansas City ahead of Sunday Night Football's game against the Chiefs. The 5-2 Titans will have their hands full against the 5-2 Chiefs, with the winner set to take over as the number two seed in the AFC behind the Bills. Tannehill's presence is a boost to running back Derrick Henry, whom the team will likely ride heavily to start as they aim to keep the ball away from Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. Fantasy managers considering Tannehill's services this week will have a difficult decision, with an update not expected before inactives are released 90 minutes prior to kickoff on Sunday night.

Ryan Tannehill (ankle) said he is "going to be dealing with pain tolerance for a while."​

Tannehill has missed consecutive games with the ankle issue. He said he will need to get some practice reps in before returning but is making progress with the injury. Tannehill also mentioned his ability to move in the pocket as important for the offense. It sounds like he will be out for at least one more week, giving Malik Willis his third start. The Titans have hidden Willis behind Derrick Henry so far and that won't change in Week 10. Willis will rank as a low-end QB2 if he gets the nod.

Ryan Tannehill completed 19-of-36 passes for 255 yards and two touchdowns in the Titans' 17-10, Week 10 win over the Broncos.​

Tannehill came up big on multiple occasions for the Titans, with his two scores going to Nick Westbrook-Ikhine. His first touchdown, which came on a nine-yard pass to Westbrook-Ikhine shortly before halftime, gave the Titans their first points of the day, but it was Tannehill's second touchdown that put the Titans ahead. A perfectly executed flea flicker resulted in a 63-yard touchdown pass to Westbrook-Ikhine, which proved to be more than enough against a Broncos team that struggled to move the ball all afternoon. Tannehill was solid against a stout Denver defense that bottled up Derrick Henry all afternoon. He can be treated as a mid-QB2 next week against the Packers.

Ryan Tannehill completed 22-of-27 passes for 333 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in the Titans' 27-17, Week 11 win over the Packers.​

Tannehill started the game by leading an opening possession touchdown drive capped off with a 14-yard, catch-and-run pass to running back Dontrell Hilliard. The Titans were in control from the jump and Tannehill remained highly efficient against a battered Green Bay secondary, with the team leveraging Derrick Henry via play action to great effect. His two top receivers, Treylon Burks and Robert Woods, helped propel Tannehill to his first 300+ passing yard game of the season, which took until the last possession of the game on a 51-yard dime to rookie Treylon Burks down the sideline. Tannehill and the Titans keep finding ways to win this season and now have 10 days to prepare for a Week 12 showdown with the Bengals.

tremendous upside

then again no QBs on bye this week & he laid an egg (3 INT) v the Bengals last year

still can’t believe the Titans lost a playoff game when they sacked the opposing QB 9 times

anyway offense seems to have come alive since Burks got healthy

I laugh every time I see this thread's title, but no matter how bad I think Tennessee might be, they just keep winning, year after year.
 

Ryan Tannehill said his ankle is okay after he suffered a new ankle injury in Week 13.​

Tannehill missed a pair of games earlier this year because of an ankle injury, but he told reporters the new injury he suffered in Week 13 was to his other ankle. He joked about completing the pair of injuries before noting that he felt better. It sounds like the new ankle issue won't stop him from playing in Week 14, though it could still limit his mobility. Expect his practice reps to be monitored as he prepares to face the Jaguars on Sunday.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports Ryan Tannehill (ankle) faces an "uphill battle" to play in Week 16 against the Texans.​

Pelissero said Tannehill -- who returned to Week 15's loss to the Chargers after injuring his ankle -- could still tough it out and suit up against the Texans on Saturday. He seems likely to sit for at least one week after the Titans on Wednesday signed QB Josh Dobss from the Lions practice squad. Malik Willis would draw the start against Houston if Tannehill is sidelined, making Titans pass catchers unstartable in all fantasy formats. Willis, who has completed 44.5 percent of his passes this season at a clip of 4.7 adjusted yards per attempt, is not fantasy viable.

Ryan Tannehill (ankle) was not seen at Wednesday's practice.​

It was reported by NFL Network's Tom Pelissero early on Wednesday that Tannehill faces an "uphill battle" to play in Week 16 against the Texans. After suffering an ankle injury that saw him carted off the field (only to return) in Week 15, the adrenaline rush that likely carried him through the remainder of that game has all but worn off days later. Now, it appears Tannehill will sit this one out, which gives way for Malik Willis to make yet another start against the Texans after making his first career start against them in Week 8. We'll monitor Tannehill's status throughout the week, but anybody banking on him in a 2QB or superflex league should start making other plans.

Paul Kuharksy report's Ryan Tannehill (ankle) is "very likely done for the season."​

He added that Tannehill may need to undergo surgery on his ankle. Tannehill re-aggravated a previous ankle injury in Week 15. He only missed a few snaps because of the issue but was reported to be unlikely to play in Week 16 shortly after the game. The injury already cost Tannehill two games earlier in the season and he never fully recovered from it. Tennessee consistently limited his practice reps because of the issue, even after he had been back in action for weeks. We are still waiting on confirmation from other reporters or the team that Tannehill's season is in jeopardy, but all signs point to Malik Willis taking over under center for the final three games of the year.

We'll see.
They tend to disrespect the Texans or consider it an easy win (how to word?) and that would give him a week to treat n rest the sprained ankle.
A win without him will have them in the playoff race still and still a game ahead of the Jags for first.
A loss COULD be a concession to the Jags and the season is over- while everyone claims Willis' 80 yards passing will suffice.

Playoffs every year under Vrabel is a streak that means a lot to them. I'm just not sure.

Willis or Dobbs actually passing and playing a normal offense might be something to consider

If he’s indeed out for the year the Titans season is over. Malik looks lost out there. Not that Tanny is some savior, but he could at least run the offense(most of the time.)
 

Ryan Tannehill (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 16 against the Texans.​

The Titans seemed to be hoping for a miracle with Tannehill, but it will be Malik Willis under center vs. Houston. Certifiably not ready to be an NFL passer in his early 2022 appearances, Willis will be tasked with handing the ball off over and over again vs. the Texans' No. 32 run defense. He will also hopefully be allowed to call his own number, giving him some desperation superflex appeal. We would not expect to see Tannehill again this season.

Now he has had surgery. At this point he was probably going to have it.
He had a tightrope ankle surgery which is not the typical kind. By that I mean they're not disrupting anything that's already there but adding a strip to strengthen the ankle so that it's not a recurring issue.
I'm surprised he had it because this is tape me up in a boot time of year and players usually play thru an ankle and get that type surgery in the off-season. It's annoying no doubt and frustrating- to step wrong or twist wrong or step on someone's foot or somesuch and suddenly there it is again-ankle pain and off to the sidelines. It's pretty common in the NBA and soccer.
Tua returned in 28 days.
A couple googled sites say 21 days. He was at 19 for the finale.

It's possible he returns still but leans towards unlikely.
It's possible they make the playoffs and he returns but I lean towards unlikely with so many injuries and a bad OL and WRs.

All in all, the guy was being reversed for his toughness by TEN fans and ....idk how they view this yet. Give it a few weeks.

He's still gonna play with a taped up boot if he plays which again...why have the surgery now?

I'd drop him in redraft and hope someone claims him. If he plays I'd bet he reinjures it- to leave and return or leave the game entirely idk but we all know ya follow doctors orders or bad things happen

As a fan I’d rather just let Willis roll the next month and into the playoffs if they get there.

Titans coach Mike Vrabel said Ryan Tannehill "seemed excited" about new OC Tim Kelly, but also noted "Ran [Carthon] and I are evaluating the entire roster."​

It's been speculated about the Nashville media that a return for Kelly could mean a return for Tannehill as Tennessee's starting quarterback in 2023. Vrabel stopped short of saying that the Kelly elevation is a bridge to Tannehill being on the roster, but didn't necessarily say anything that would lead us to believe the Titans are planning to move on from Tannehill either. Tannehill's future remains an open question heading into free agency, as he carries a $36.6 million cap hit that the Titans can move on, saving as much as $27 million in cap space if they release Tannehill with a post-June 1 designation.

The Titans would lose about 18 mil in cap or pay Tannehill 18 mil.
He'll be there.
"He'll probably renegotiate an extension" has been a theme but the widely liked QB didn't play well in 2022. Bad offense, bad line, and bad WRs- the excuses or reasons are there, but it seems like a big ask to think a GM will extend someone before seeing him perform well
 

Titans GM Ran Carthon said Ryan Tannehill "is a Titan and he will be a Titan."​

The Titans have been pretty close to the vest throughout this process, so there's probably still a slim chance that they move on from Tannehill, but this quote would seem to paint Tannehill as likely to be their starting quarterback in 2023. It's a fair stance given how productive Tannehill has been while healthy, and he's probably one of the 20 best quarterbacks in the league at this point. The Titans appear unlikely to bottom out with Tannehill under center so long as he stays healthy. It's also possible the Titans get Tannehill to take a salary cut to make room for them to chase more free agents.

New GM fell over his words. He's inexperienced, it's half expected.
Something like he's under contract he's our QB. He's our QB now.

Everyone is guessing of he meant "for now" or "he's under contract he's our guy."

There's just no reason to eat a QB contract anymore. They're too high and once a team has any cap woes, it's so limiting that it's so unlikely.
 

Titans coach Mike Vrabel said "Of course we do" when asked if he expects Ryan Tannehill to be the team's starter in 2023.​

"Ryan is getting healthy. He has been putting the work in. It is good to see him around the building. So yeah, we always expect that. But to make predictions – I think I have been through this last year (with A.J. Brown) – I am not going to commit to anybody being on our roster in September. I've seen it change too quickly. Of course, we want Ryan as our quarterback, and everybody else that has helped us win. That is what we want," Vrabel continued. While the Titans continue to leave just a crack of the door open to the idea that they could start someone else in 2023, Vrabel's words definitely point to him as someone the team genuinely wants to start. Tannehill is still recovering from a high-ankle sprain suffered late last season that placed him on IR.

Vrabel keeps pointing out that he expected AJB to be there his whole career then after he says something like I've learned I can't count on anyone to be there in September and....I guess he's gunshy so we're gonna have to read a bunch of comments like this this offseason
 

FOX Sports' Ben Arthur writes "If the Titans start the season rough? It's Levis time."​

Arthur writes this in a piece exploring the idea of trading or getting rid of Tannehill before this season. It feels like a pretty foreboding sign about Tannehill's playing time this year -- at the very least -- that the former Titans beat is bringing this idea up this early after the draft. Mike Vrabel put Tannehill on top of the depth chart when asked after the draft, but said that "whatever happens after that is up to the players." Tannehill looks likely to be on a short leash if Tennessee struggles, as they'll need to figure out what they feel about Levis before the 2024 NFL Draft.

Levis isn't starting unless his play commands to. Many have said despite what Ryan lacks, his decision making is (usually) sharp and a very good QB for Levis to learn under and coaches to utilize when teaching him.
 
Slightly interesting to hear that Atlanta and Tennessee had apparently discussed a deal involving Tannehill and the 1.08. Supposedly shut down when they couldn’t work out the money. It clearly wasn’t going to be straight up, probably the 11 and Tanny for the 8 as the base.
