Nothing loaded about that "objective" reporting.

It was pretty fair (outside of the sensationalized headline) to be honest. It isn't an ideal situation for a rookie to step into - especially due to the porous o-line - but I think the Jets feel the sooner he gets into games the further along his development will be. There are examples on both sides of whether or not it's detrimental to not let a QB sit and learn so I think it's up to the individual. From everything I have seen out of him and from what I have heard, I think he's up to the task. I think he's mentally tough enough to deal with any struggles or beatings he takes. I'm really looking forward to watching him this season and hopefully the Jets finally have their elusive franchise QB.Nothing loaded about that "objective" reporting.
Yeah, I read the article last night while we were busy letting Dan Bailey walk out of the building without a sparkling new contract and slight raise. My gripe was solely about the title and I know that byline writers don't always get to title their pieces, so I wasn't condemning the entire piece, per se, though the above posting makes it sure seem like it. But I wasn't.It was pretty fair (outside of the sensationalized headline) to be honest. This didn’t hold up well.I think he'll do ok. I like the Jets in an upset tonight.
It wasn’t his first read on the called play.nice TD to Robby Anderson but I would have liked to have seen him recognize how wide open Anderson was and gotten rid of the ball a little bit sooner. Still great play.
I’m not saying they are pro bowl talent but you could do a lot worse than Enunwa and Anderson. Enunwa catches everything and Anderson is your deep threat.he's the real deal to the eye test, great fantasy backup or 2nd qb with upside. I grade him lower due to the weapons but he looks fantastic in every regard since the preseason and its carrying over
I noticed the same thing. He made it much more difficult for Anderson than it had to be had he throw two seconds earlier.nice TD to Robby Anderson but I would have liked to have seen him recognize how wide open Anderson was and gotten rid of the ball a little bit sooner. Still great play.
Thats all Baker will say. Such a Cleveland move to let offseason hype bump a gadget dwarf qb over a stud like thisBaker says hi
I'm ok with this staying the official thread.@Dr. Octopus If any Jets fan wants to start an Official thread for this guy I'll be happy to get it marked up in the player index thread.
It's a long haul. Some pain pills to get a good drawl going and then the dicpics commence. This kid is Brett Favre without the drawl and sexting tendencies.
In the Cleveland thread there was a two week period where it seemed very likely Darnold was going to be the Browns' pick where he fawned all over him and creamed his pants dreaming about how great the offense would be with Darnold throwing to Gordon, Landry, et. al - if that makes you feel any better. Is it wrong to hope that Darnold "stacks pro bowls on top of pro bowls" and Mayfield falls flat on his face, just to spite Soulfly and this thread title? I have nothing agianst the guy, but the amount of hate for one and hype for the other almost makes you want to see the "underdog" have a better career.
That is exactly why I want him to succeed. I'm not a big fan of that kind of flip flopping. I try not to do it myself when I trade a guy away.In the Cleveland thread there was a two week period where it seemed very likely Darnold was going to be the Browns' pick where he fawned all over him and creamed his pants dreaming about how great the offense would be with Darnold throwing to Gordon, Landry, et. al - if that makes you feel any better.![]()
I want all of these guys to suceed. The NFL is better with a lot of good, young quarterbacks. Is it wrong to hope that Darnold "stacks pro bowls on top of pro bowls" and Mayfield falls flat on his face, just to spite Soulfly and this thread title? He didn’t play that badly. Missed a few throws and made one really terrible one. The second interception was due to Pryor not continuing his route or even trying to get his hands on it. He’s a great athlete but a terrible WR.
Meh...the Jets just need to trade for Gordon and the thread title will change to reflect that Darnold is destined to be the greatest QB of his generation. Is it wrong to hope that Darnold "stacks pro bowls on top of pro bowls" and Mayfield falls flat on his face, just to spite Soulfly and this thread title? Actually, Ive done quite well on scouting takes on this forum. That's a poor take on your part.Soulfly's only claims to attention here: Groping Josh Gordon and holding firm on terrible scouting takes.
If Mayfield looked half as good as Darnold has you'd be fitting him for his gold jacket.I'll stand firm in my assessment of him, but again, I hope to be wrong.
His final season in college made me ill... But year prior I was salivating.
First game was "meh" and you guys went bananas over how good he looked.... wut?
Yesterday was worse than the first. But he's a rookie and this season is his intro
Sam Darnold completed 15-of-31 passes for 169 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions in New York's 21-17, Week 3 loss to the Browns.
Whereas Baker Mayfield stole the show, Darnold stunk up the joint. He might as well have had "rookie" tattooed on his forehead. For their part, the Jets were terrified of Darnold making a mistake, calling a horizontal passing offense. It resulted in some nice catch-and-runs for Quincy Enunwa but severely capped the Jets' point ceiling for the evening. Of course, Darnold proved the Jets' caution correct when he immediately tossed a pair of late-game picks when forced into comeback mode. Darnold has now turned in back-to-back unimpressive performances after his Week 1 throttling of the Lions. He has 10 days to review tape before a foreboding Week 4 matchup with the Jaguars.
