QB Trey Lance, LAC (1 Viewer)

Does anyone who watched the game have an opinion on how he looked?

I would love it to work out for this kid, he never got a chance.

He never got a chance? Really? He’s had chances that probably 90% or more of QBs drafted into the NFL didn’t have. The bottom line is that he just isn’t good enough.

He’s only 25 years old. I mean his brain just finished developing 😉

Seriously though between college and NFL I don’t think he’s played 40 games. He could still realize his potential.

Ummm, pretty sure he spent the first two years in the league with injuries, so maybe that might have messed with his chances? Then he got Wally Pipped.

So yes, I hope he gets a chance to get healthy and actually put up some tape.

I think we have seen this story enough times to understand there is a remote possibility of a guy who does not play well at the QB position his first few years for whatever reason come along and make strides and become competent. May or not be the case here, but for SF”s I would pay attention and possibly grab on the super cheap depending on roster size.

Yeah for sure. Even some of his incompletions were well placed balls. His story is not done yet. Obviously it’s only preseason and playing against 2nd stringers, but he was also playing with 2nd stringers. KLS did pretty well though. No doubt he will be getting some playing time in the regular season. I’m killing myself for not having any shares.

A lot of the first half, he was playing with 2nd stringers against 3rd and 4th stringers. Lions didn’t play anyone who is going to get a regular season snap.

Trey Lance has been awesome thus far in preseason for the #Chargers. Had a veteran offensive coordinator recently tell me there’s not a better person to revitalize a QB than Jim Harbaugh.

Louis Riddick
Trey Lance is with the right program, right Coach, right QB room. No BS. No agendas. He has a chance to see what he can actually now become. Happy AF for him. #BoltUp

Good for Lance. He was thrust into a very difficult spot with huge expectations after playing very little college football. Needed to really learn the nuances of the game and it sounds like he's getting the coaching he needs. He'll likely never be the guy he was drafted to be, but maybe can carve out a long career as a backup with a chance to capitalize on a starting role down the line. Amazingly the guy is still only 25 years old.

7 of 14 for 55 yards, zero TDs, zero INTs and 2 sacks.

Baby steps, Bob.

He did run for 48 yards and a TD as well. Not great but I thought it solid. Looked a lot better than Heinecke did.
If he can't throw he should probably consider becoming a WR.

Nah. He’s showing that he can play QB, move the chains and score. It’s preseason, so obviously don’t know how he’d do in a real game, but as a chargers fan I would be happy with that performance in a real game. The numbers you posted don’t tell the whole story.
