Qdoba v.Chipotle (2 Viewers)

The tortilla is a big part of what makes the burrito so bad for you. That's why so many women order the bowls. That and obv the SC/cheese.

Must be the location...the Qdoba's around here are always busy and yes Qdoba is better than Chipotle. Not a huge difference but I like their Salsa's better and they have queso sauce.
Yeah lines out the door here at lunch time at Qdoba. I prefer them over Chipolte.
:goodposting:

I could eat their tortilla soup every day. Dang that stuff is tasty.
Qdoba has soup, huh? Interesting.

Chicken queso burrito at Qdoba never disappoints :moneybag:

Ive only had 1 burrito at Chipotle and wasnt impressed at all. I think the rice being stale/hard was the biggest turnoff. Never went back. For you Chipotle guys, what are their best burritos?

The rice problem sounds more like a localized issue with cooking rather than an issue with the rice itself. Not sure rice can even go stale, can it?

I'm a fan of all their meats except for the steak, which I find a little too tough and chewy for my liking.

A burrito I like has barbacoa, brown rice, corn salsa, medium salsa, guac, lite cheese, lite sour cream.

Just tortilla soup and it's awesome.

My go to is the bowl with light rice, black beans, half chicken half either carnitas or barbacoa, pico, hot, extra cheese and lettuce. I figure it would be less calories without the extra cheese but what the hell...love chipotle.

Not a big fan of either. As far as fast food style burrito places I prefer Rubio's. That said, I have eaten at Chipotle twice and been severely disappointed. Qdoba >> Chipotle.

There is always a long at the Chipotle locations near me in NYC but never at Qdoba. They are both ok, but Chipotle is clearly much more popular here. The main problem I have with Chipotle is that it's ~$11 for one chicken burrito (w/guac ) here in NYC. It tastes good but it's a horrible value. They also have not one, but two of the highest paid CEOs in the industry which means prices aren't going any lower rather Chipotle will keep raising them.

Was waiting for someone to mention the tortilla soup. Been to Qdoba's ONCE and I still remember how good it was.

Been to Chipotle 1-2 times and recall it being "OK".

Love Chipotle and Moe's. We also go to a similar type of place called California Tortilla. Not bad, location has a lot to do with it. Got one kid who doesn't like tex-mex and there is a Pei-Wei next door. Easy, no b#tching.

Chipotle has better meats and toppings but Qdoba's queso at least puts them in contention with each other.

Disagree. Had Chipotle again after my original assessment and realized I like Qdoba's chicken much better than Chipotle's. Qdoba's steak is just meh but their chicken is pretty tasty.

Chipotle by a mile -

Bowl or Burrito - brown rice, chicken, peppers, black beans, hot salsa, sour cream, lettuce.

I hated Chipotle the first time I got it because I got the mild salsa. The hot salsa and the sour cream mix is fantastic. They also have amazing guac.

Chipotle's chicken was just bland as can be to me.

I'd personally rank them Chipotle, Qdoba, Baja Fresh, Moe's, then California Tortilla, with Chipotle having a notable lead over the others and the middle three being grouped pretty tightly. Cal Tor is back end for me but I'll still eat there if need be, not that bad, just clearly behind the others for me.

I can normally place this down to whether you're willing to accept something that isn't Tex Mex. Chipotle definitely uses better quality ingredients. Qdoba isn't telling me where they source their meat from, I know that Chipotle uses Niman Farm pork and Bell and Evans chicken. Obviously, the guacamole is much fresher at Chiptole as well.

But Chipotle doesn't do Tex Mex. It really doesn't do "Mexican" either. It does a very American version of food "inspired" by Mexico and not inspired at all by the gooey, cheesiness that's in Tex Mex.

Why do people keep saying this? The Qdoba's around here use real chicken, beef and have very fresh salsa. I don't see a quality difference between Qdoba and Chipotle at all...the ingredients are very similar imho. Some of you are making Qdoba out to be Taco Bell. Unless there is that much of a difference in the Qdoba franchises throughout the country.

California Tortilla is horrendously average and bland. I'm pretty sure they used watered down cheese whiz for queso.

Would not buy.
Not my favorite, just go for location. We go because it is closest, and with 3 pre-teen little ones, sometimes you just need to do that to avoid the hassle!

What's the etiquette if you do the order online thing with Chipotle? Do you stand in line with everyone else but it's just ready for you when you get to the front? Or do you get to bypass the line and go straight to the register?

I have always found Chipotle to be fresher than the similar places but have assumed that it's because they have more customers so the food is not sitting for long. Could be wrong, just my assumption.

Yup. Right to the front no waiting. Its awesome during lunch and dinner rush. Love walking past 20+ people all who have been waiting. You can even pay online to make it easier.

Thanks guys, going to have to start doing this. Seems like lately the line is to the door even in off hours anymore, and at lunch it goes 2/3 of the way around the inside of the building.

I don't go often, maybe once a month. Qdoba is closer to my place for now so I go there more often. Chipotle did have a free dinner for teachers in April so I went there. Burrito with chicken or steak and make it hot, spicy.

Get the app and it saves everything for you including your last order.

qdoba just seems kind of dirty. chipotle gives off a cleaner vibe. there used to be a place around here called jimmy guacos. that was always my go to because they had ground beef and bacon. i realize moe's has both of these. chipotle is my go to right now.
