Question about new OT rules (1 Viewer)

This may have been covered before but i forget the answer...

Team A wins the toss and kicks FG.

Team B gets the ball, drives down the field, but throws an INT which the defensive (albeit stupidly) tries to return, on which they fumble and Team B recovers.

Does the game continue? Or is it like 2-pt conversion rules where the play is dead if the defense gains possession in this situation?

Game ends when the play is over. Team A wins (if Team B fails to score a TD on the fumble recovery).

The more interesting scenario is if Team B recovers Team A's fumble and scores a touchdown. Team B would win thanks solely to Team A's stupidity.

edit to explain what I mean: the game does NOT END until the play is over. So even though Team A has recovered a fumble, the game continues until the play is over. So, Team A could theoretically lose the game by fumbling again.

This is what I was asking....if the game would continue if Team A fumbled the INT return and Team B recovered it (so Team B's offense would technically never leave the field).

Right. The game would end when play is over.

i must have been living under a rock and did not know there are no longer ties now.

Following a three-minute intermission after the end of the regulation game, play will be continued in 15-minute periods until a winner is declared.

You can still have a tie in the regular season.
