Question on future RB prospects for 2009/10 (1 Viewer)

Question: I'm in the process of making a dynasty trade whereby one of the things I'll be receiving is a future 1st (in 2009 or 10 - my choice), and am curious about future RB prospects. Obviously we don't have any idea right now who will be declaring early. But, based on what you know today (I don't follow CFB), which year (2009 or 10) is more likely to have a high profile RB(s) come out? Are there any Faulk-, Peterson- or Bush-type RBs that you'd expect to come out one of those years in particular?

TIA

It's so far out, the guys we hear about now being recruited could completely flop, and guys that got off to slow starts in their HS careers could develop very well when they are 19 and 20. That being said, I think 2006 was a down year for RB prospects out of HS, 2007's best went to USC - McNight and some other guy. Scout.com has Darrell Scott as the #1 guy for 2008 so far. 6-1, 203, 4.32 (scout.com numbers).

I woudln't try to project that far out. I'd really look at the team you're gettign the pick from, and unless there's a reall ygood reason to think the later year will be worse due to contracts or something, I'd take the pick a year sooner.

You're more likely to be able to deal it back a year down the road, than to be able to move it up.

Chris "Beanie" Wells of Ohio State is one to keep your eyes on. If he continues to develop the mental part of his game to go along with a freakish blend of speed and power then he might be a great NFL prospect.

The 2009 class is generally considered pretty elite:Darren McFadden, ARKSteve Slaton, WVJamaal Charles, TXJonathon Stewart, OREJames Davis, CLEMSome of these guys will likely come out in 2008.

One guy that should be a super star is another soph to beDeMarco MUrray at Oklahoma (think Reggie Bush/Westbrook). Dude is a star in the future if he stays healthy.

In 2009, a Senior to watch is Felix Jones from Arkansas. That guy is explosive.

A sleeper here is an upcoming Soph named Tostin at OK State.

There is always good RB's that are drafted that enter into good situations in the NFL. I wouldn't worry about a "Reggie Bush-like" player at this point. I'm sure though that there will be more than a few future studs in that class.

Be sure to discount whatever value you come up with for a 2010 or 2009 pick by the chances of the league folding or you quitting by then. Hey, you can laugh but unless your league is well-established and you have been in it a good while it's a very real risk.

Oh, you could be dead too. At my advanced age the huge discounting for this pretty much keeps me out of the 2009+ pick market.
