Questions for CBS commissioners (1 Viewer)

2 questions related to add/drops and FAAB.

Our add/drop deadline is set to: Transactions will lock five minutes before the first game on Sunday (excluding London games). Players whose teams already played will be locked for the remainder of the scoring period.

Seems weird to not have the option to drop a player prior to their late game. Are there other options in this setting?

For FAAB: we run waivers every single day. is there an option to only run main waivers 1x per week, all unclaimed players are first-come after the waiver period, and dropped players sit on waivers for a day or two?

No and no.

I don't see a problem with the waivers/FA being done before the noon games. You've typically had 5 days to make a transaction. If not, allow the commissioner to do it manually.

On the 2nd question, it's dumb but CBS can only do full FAAB or full waivers/FA, no hybrid. Check their "help" section and they try to explain it...rather poorly. We run FAAB Tuesday - Saturday nights and allow Sunday pickups (provided the adds/drops don't include players that have already begun play) by message board posts. Those are time stamped so in the event of 2 people trying to make a claim I can manually add the first person to request it.

I bombard them with a help ticket every single week telling them that FAAB and waivers can co-exist. Hopefully they can find an intern programmer to figure it out.

Yes on this. I run my waivers on Wednesday Night (technically Thurs. morning) and allow FCFS pick ups after that. I set all dropped players go on waivers for a 2 day period and then we run another waivers on Saturday Night (technically Sunday morning) where all players that were dropped can be picked up.

If I've got a guy on my IR playing at 4pm who is 50/50, I don't want to drop a player from my roster at noon to cover the chance 4pm guy might be active. Should be able to drop any player up to 5 mins before his game just as you can decide his in/out/IR status.

We love to use FAAB, but it is quite annoying to not have an option for last minute Sunday first-come pickups.

Disagree with this and what you are describing doesn't fit into the context of FAAB imo. Actually if the league was not FAAB then it actually would work like this so I disagree ONLY within the context of FAAB. Whole point of blind auction is to have a set time frame for everyone to get a chance to put a bid in. Unless you want to have an option where FAAB period is every 10 minutes flexibility is not possible and last minute changes are also not possible. That's the nature of FAAB.

We do both blind bids and first-time first serve on CBS.

The commish changes it back and forth manually. After waivers run on Tuesday night the commish changes over first thing Wednesday. Then rosters lock after the first games start on Sunday (1 eastern) and he changes back over the weekend.

Not ideal but that is what we do.

Sucks that ESPN's free site figured this out before CBS' pay site.
CBS does have that option. There's many things that suck about the site - but you can set it up the way you want it to work, as I said my league is set up to do just that.

So are you manually flipping it from FAAB to "use waivers process to do add drops" every week?

This is exactly what I do.
