Questions for Podcast 1.4 (1 Viewer)

Cecil Lammey

Footballguy
Recording the latest episode of "The Audible" soon, and would like some questions from the SP. We are going over EVERY QB situation division by division. So what are the most pressing issues out there?

:BigMex:

I'm not a Charile Frye fan, do you think he can make it? What are Cleveland's other options should he fail?

How long till Griese unseats Grossman?

Is this Carr's last chance to produce?

Why won't Favre retire and can Rodgers even play in this league?

So it's Brad Johnson for the Vikes, beautiful.

Will Alex Smith ever live up to his #1 draft pick?

Will choosing Rivers over Brees set the Chargers back like everone thinks

How long till Young is the man in Ten?

Jason Campbell wasn't even good at Auburn, why can he succeed in the NFL

-Get Dorsey ready, lol!!!
How long till Griese unseats Grossman?
-This won't happen, Griese is too shaky and inconsistent, I think we've all seen what Grossman does in that O
Is this Carr's last chance to produce?
No, if they let him go this year b/c of a poor season again, mgmt will really hear it about Young
Why won't Favre retire and can Rodgers even play in this league?
R U KIDDING ME!!! Favre still has it, a lot more than most qb's right now. We'll have to see with Rodgers, I doubt it
So it's Brad Johnson for the Vikes, beautiful.
IWas that sarcastic? I hope it was
Will Alex Smith ever live up to his #1 draft pick?
Please, we all know the answer to this, NO
Will choosing Rivers over Brees set the Chargers back like everone thinks
This one is the most interesting. I think Marty knows his stuff
How long till Young is the man in Ten?
Midway this season
Jason Campbell wasn't even good at Auburn, why can he succeed in the NFL
He was okay at Auburn, National Title buddy! Even though they had Brown and the Lac. He will be starter going into '07, I promise

Qs for Cecil+Bloom:

"preseason watchlist" Any Ruvell Martin news, I'd appreciate.

QBs-Ingle Martin+Aaron Rodgers as often as possible this summer. Favre's replacement will be worth a good amount in dynasty but is it Rodgers?

I would like to hear some discussin on Chris Simms. I have heard everything from he will be a bust to Gruden was thrilled with him last year and feels he is his QB. With Griese gone is he "the man" and if so what can we expect of him in 06?

Every year, we see backup QBs, that due to an injury, come from out of nowhere to be viable fantasy starters. Who would be your top 2 picks that fit this bill for 2006?

The QB I'm having the hardest time getting a handle on is Aaron Brooks - there are a lot of positives, negatives, and unknowns going on that will affect his season. What are your thoughts, and will we have a handle on any of this from training camp and the early preseason games?

Will Kitna win the job in Detroit, as many are expecting? Will the Detroit starter's stats be comparable to other Qbs under Martz, like Green, Warner and Bulger?

When will Vince Young see the field in TEN??

How long before Matt Leinart takes the job from Kurt Warner??

Since Gus Ferotte knows the Rams new system, will he be a good handcuff for Bulger owners??

Who is the biggest sleeper in the QB position this year??

Sorry if some of these are duplicates.....

I also am interested on thoughts regarding Brooks. Do quality QB's that move to new teams typically struggle or can they pick-up production quickly on average, or does it depend on the talent around them, or is it just a shot in the dark. It seems that FF draftees a lot of times ignore the potential of a possible huge change in QB's pontential due to changing teams. Similarly thoughts on McNair. He seems like another late rounder that could have huge potential. Lastly there has been talk on the SP about when does it make sense to to take P Manning. I would be interested in your thoughts. Will Eli make a huge jump this year, to a top QB, therefore good value to draft this year? What QB's are part of a new Offensive scheme that should improve there numbers ,therefore possible sleeper?

BTW, I enjoyed the NFL draft pods, but you guys really need to improve the quality of audio. Very tough to listen to at times. Otherwise great job.

Hey Cecil. One suggestion. Can you drop the NFL Films music in the background? I feel it doesn't add to the broadcast at all and sometimes distracts from it. It could be me and my ADD, but just a suggestion.

Another suggestion for the show would be to have members of the staff on to explain their rankings. For example, Wimer has Portis as the the #10 RB and SJax as the #31. Wow! An interesting bit would be to have the Staff members do those Faceoffs on the Audible. Maybe explaining why Sjax is the #31 or Portis is #10 while on the other side is another member of the staff that has him at #4.

Again, great job with the latest one. Quality was big notch above #2. Can't wait for #4.

There is a slight buzz that Skype gives us when we record. I put the music on at 4% the total volume in order to cover up the noise. Trust me, the buzz was more distracting. I can lower the volume of the music a tad and see what we get.

Definitely something we want to do!

Thanks man! #4 is going to be a huge show!

How's Penny's shoulder coming along ... Is it true Bollinger and Ramsey will be slugging it out for the QB4 slot and Clemens looks to be a lock for the QB2?

Can Aaron Rogers really be the future in Green Bay?

First would like to say thanks for answering my questions on last podcast

My questions for this week is who are the top value QBs (based on ADP and what not) and what are your strategies to picking QBs, take 1 early and get a stud to produce every week, take lower guys and play matchups etc.

Why is Brooks so disrespected dispite four straight 25 total TD seasons and being a top eight QB from 2001-2004?
SSSSH!! Don't let everyone know about this!BTW, Cecil, I listened to the Aubile 3 today, you are right the sound is much better. Enjoying the shows.

Which WR will have the best production in '06?

Matt Jones

Koren Robinson

David Givens

Antonio Bryant

Standard scoring, no ppr.

Edit: Sorry, totally didn't see that this was the QB edition! :nerd:

You probably don't have any better answers than the rest of us but...

What's your guys' take on the QB Injury situations: Who's worth taking (and at what price)? Who should be avoided.

Pepper

Carson

Toothlessberger

Pennington/whoever is in NYJ these days.

Also: What do you expect from McNair in his new home?

BTW Cecil, I'm new to this podcast thing and wanted to give you a compliment. But, in order to research this off season, I checked out some of the other podcasts out there. Most share the same format as yours with one host and a couple of guests. Most of these have been going for a year or two. Now to the compliment. Seeing as you guys just started doing this, your production is as good as, if not better, than these other podcasts. We all know the infomation is top notch, but i didn't expect the production to be as well. After all, this is sorta cutting edge stuff. Have you guys figured out how to setup the pods for subscriptions through iTunes or similiar? Once you do, I believe your listening audience will greatly expand off of just the FBGs.

That's all. Just a "attaboy". Look forward to the next one.

Thanks man, that means alot. I spend about 3x the running time editing these shows. On some of the monster shows, that adds up to a ton of time. Nice to hear that the listening audience is enjoying it!!

Cool. Thanks for answering my question. I can't really argue with the answer because in fantasy or real life, winning is going to affect your perception of a player, and Brooks simply hasn't won enough games to be thought of as an upper echelon fantasy QB. I don't think he's the greatest QB, I just think he's a huge risk/reward boom/bust guy, and with a ADP of over 100, the reward far outweighs the risk.
