Questions for Trump supporters (1 Viewer)

I don't have access to the article.  How many U.S. personnel are still in Yemen?
Never mind...looks like he's playing politics.  Good thing we brought in an outsider who was going to do things different.

Trump viewed the Yemen vote as a rebuke of his administration after the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi and urged some senators not to go along with it, according to White House and congressional aides.

You guys are picking right now, at this particular moment, to block people out of your own thread? Now? You have no problem with the timing obviously showing you're being a tad sensitive? I respect that desire certainly, but how about we pick a place where we can keep the convo going?

It’s the rules.

If you are posting in good faith (as you normally do), I have no issues.  However, we need to eliminate the element that just spams the supporter thread with insults, nonsense and bickering.

wait what?  Is this a thing?  picking and choosing who can be in threads?

If the bar is "eliminate spamming threads with insults, nonsense and bickering" I have a rather large list of requests for a few threads I go to...please advise.

ETA:  I saw this thread bumped and for some reason thought "finally" is if questions might be answered and opinions given in a meaningful way.  I think I'm still drunk from last night :bag:

I've seen a lot of people defending Trump and his policies.  I understand that he's undone a lot of what Obama did and that he's enacted some Republican measures, plus the supreme court.  So I get that there's a certain satisfaction with his job so far because he's doing things you wanted him to do.

My questions for people who currently support him

1) do you feel like his accomplishments and future potential outweigh the alleged corruption, or do you feel like there really is no corruption?

2) do you feel like he's permanently damaged the country's relationships with allies like NATO? Or improved them?

3) is there anything he could do that would be too much?  as examples

- if we withdrew from NATO?

- if he created tariffs that enriched himself and his family?

- if stone cold evidence came out of him colluding with Russia on the election?

-if Putin admitted it?

4) There have been some other cases where Trump allegedly did things that republicans were livid with the Clintons for doing - like hosting his emails on a private server, or "pay to play" politics. Do you believe Trump has done similar things?  If so, does it bother you?

Please note that this thread is intended for Trump supporters only. I appreciate that there are a lot of people here who don't like Trump, but I'd ask that you hold your comments for other threads.
1. I feel 85 % of politicians are corrupt, so yes his accomplishments outweigh the alleged corruption.

2. Neither

3. If his decisions started affecting my bank account negatively ...time to go

4. They all do similar things...Politicians and people of power don't get to the top without skeletons

Question for Trump supporters:  Do you feel his crass rhetoric gets in the way of his legislative agenda?  If you could have a candidate with the same agenda, but without the rhetoric, would this be preferable?

For me the answer is yes, I would prefer him to be less abrasive.  However, folks have made a good point that Romney was calm and didn't fight back when attacked and he lost so there is something to be said for him going after folks that attack him.

So, are you saying you think his rhetoric helps him achieve his agenda, or just helped him win the election?  I say this because Romney has political achievements of his own without being abrasive.

So would you prefer he maintain the abrasive rhetoric through the election, or would you prefer him communicate using more traditional language?
I don't think he can change his personality so it doesn't matter what I prefer.  I am looking forward to our first female President Ivanka in the future.  She will make an incredible President, even better than her Dad.

@tonydead all due respect here and I mean that. Why *aren’t you a Trump supporter? I’m already familiar with your problems with liberals and Dems. What keeps you from voting for Trump and actively supporting him? TIA.

How long you got?  I only got 15 minutes so I might not do it enough justice.

I did not support Trump in the last election.  I voted for Mr. Johnson because I thought it might help get a third party, wasn't he getting close to 15%?, and it didn't matter anyway because I'm in a deep blue state.  Hillary was just god awful.

I support the President in the sense as I want him to be successful and I want America to succeed.  The opposite of what the Dems are currently doing.

I don't support the way he acts most of the time, which puts him in the same boat as Pelosi and Co., but, it probably helps that I hate political correctness.  I care much much much less about tweets than I do results and there are a lot of his policies that I like.

I am not a moderate in the sense that I'm never in the middle on any single issue, but, I am a moderate in the sense that I am split on the issues.  I am for climate and free choice, for example on the left.  I really like tax reform and border security, for example, under Trump.

I'll choose who I vote for in the next election after the third and final debate if we ever get around to discussing the issues instead of But Trump!  I'm on record in the debate thread of liking Tulsi and Yang, and I would vote for either of them over Trump if the election were today.  Klubochar, eh..  No way I'm voting for anyone who is for medicare for all or someone that will affect my finances significantly.

In a forum that leans 85% far left it's easy for me to meet at least that percentage in criticism, especially when it's been all about Impeach! which I do not support.  I'm a possible vote that Dems are currently alienating.

Tony, this is great and honest. Thanks.

This is great Tony.

I highly doubt this forum is 85% far left...

I sometimes wonder what people even think is far left these days...

some would claim I am far left and it makes me laugh a little.

Not me. I would claim that you don’t have a clue.

My questions for people who currently support him

1) do you feel like his accomplishments and future potential outweigh the alleged corruption, or do you feel like there really is no corruption?

alleged "corruption" is rather meaningless and easier to stomach when considering the Democrat candidate alternatives.  Lesser of two evils.

2) do you feel like he's permanently damaged the country's relationships with allies like NATO? Or improved them?

I don't care.   We should not be the world's peacekeeper.  Europe needs to carry more weight...we aren't their bodyguard.

3) is there anything he could do that would be too much?  as examples

- if we withdrew from NATO?  Depends on details.

- if he created tariffs that enriched himself and his family?  Depends on details.

- if stone cold evidence came out of him colluding with Russia on the election?  Yes, likely too much.  But details important.

-if Putin admitted it? Depends on details.

my answers to OP, although I don't consider myself a Trump supporter per se.

Great post.  It’s funny, you and I align very very closely, except our slight differences (for me with our President policies are only 1/3 the equation) put us in exactly “opposite” positions.  I’m a vote the GOP has been alienating for a decade or so.   It just goes to show how “minor” differences can put people in opposition.

Plus we like woodworking.

A little hypothetical...If you have been told multiple times for years that I will never respond to you (including a pm in the last week or so)...continuing to expect me to answer your questions is not a very reasonable take.
