Raiders: No access to training camp (1 Viewer)

I think it's a weak move by Al Davis, not giving a few practices for people to watch, esp. considering they rarely if ever sell out their stadium.

I would like to look at DMAC, Jamarcus Russell and LBs Morrison and Howard in person this summer, but I called the Raiders org today and they claim they dont even give out the schedule of practices.

Question: Has anyone ever gone up to Napa to sneak a view? Suppposedly they practice at a high school or something off of highway 29.

Let me get this straight... You think the reason they do not sell out every game is because they have closed training camp?

no.

They allow the press, but no fans. I am fine with that.

If the Raiders ask the press to not write something, about a formation and such, they won't.

These days, it's as likely to see a full video on some guys blog. I rather like the paranoid approach. I think if you aren't paranoid enough, other teams wind up with your defensive signals on DVD. Or something like that.

I think it's kind of like when they don't allow people to screen a movie before its actual release.

Seeing as how this is the only team that's doing this, I don't think the rest of the league - who would know such things, BTW - agree with you. This is just one more example of how out of touch Al Davis is with the league as it exists in 2008 as opposed to 1978.

Actually, they do release previews, you know, with actual movie scenes in them before movies are released. The Redskins, who I believe are typical in this regard, had about the first 1.5-2 weeks of practices open to the public, and then closed them. During that time the team worked on some very basic things and gave away nothing (unless it's a total shock to you that Santana Moss plays WR, or Zorn wants to run a WCO).
