Raleigh, NC - Stuff to do (1 Viewer)

Rent for a year. Have a car. I want to be around restaurants, shopping, etc. North Hills to office says 6.9 miles. Cameron Village to office says 4.9 miles. Still think those are bad ideas?
Love NH, but it’s sooo congested.  Also, to commute from there you’ll need to hit the outer beltline, like everyone else at that time.  it’s also under long term construction.  Otherwise you can pass by hell on earth aka that mall off glenwood ave.  Cameron Village would require Wade Ave going west, like everyone else.  You may have a 15-20 minute commute, it could be 25-35.  Personally, i’d look in the Lake Booke Trail area, near the hospital.  Some nice complexes, with pools there.

Thanks. I’ll be in Raleigh weekend after next and will check that area out. I did play around with google maps and depending on time leaving North Hills the commute would be 12-25 minutes for the 7 miles.

Very true, but you lose the walkability to things in that Lake Boone area.  I have been in Raleigh for 20 years, and moved to North Hills in 2013.  I really have not seen much of a congestion boom since I moved in - traffic still flows, but I think this next wave of construction will be the breaking point.

I work in North Hills. I agree that right now the traffic flows fine but when that car quest building is complete and the apartment complex on St. Albans drive is complete, I have no idea how traffic is going to flow smoothly in and out of the midtown section of NH

I did tour all the North Hills apartments this weekend and will likely move to one. Will only be there a year so if traffic/congestion gets too bad I won’t have to put up with it for too long.

I was a little surprised the Allscripts building did not do it (where my wife works), but to your point, unless they have something really crafty planned, it is going to be a mess that spills out to 440.

Highly recommend the hidden Aladdin’s eatery at NH.
Yes, it is very good - for all the times we eat out, I am always kicking myself that we forget about it.  Good, healthy and inexpensive.

Very cool - ton going on there, plus everything you need you can walk to.  Someone's gotta plan a Raleigh cornhole!
