Ran a 10k in June (4 Viewers)

not much of a week for me...like ivan last week, i spent much of it traveling for a conference. i did walk a TON though, and stopped by the running store on the way home for a new pair of shoes! resisting the urge to break them in this evening as i've basically abandoned the family this week. i'm hoping fresh legs + new shoes + trying to keep up with the boston guys tomorrow should equal a great week coming up!

Thanks guys...weekend of pigging out, hope I am not carrying too many extra pounds over the miles tomorrow. Weather is perfect, so no excuses, time to execute. Good luck to my fellow runners

Good luck to the Boston crew...won't be able to follow as much with my son's school awards and an ENT appointment for me...give em hell.

Workhorse - GL with that toe. Are you icing it? Be careful running with ibuprofen in your system. Ivan - Those weeks drive me insane. Hope the winter weather spares you next week. :( ----------------------- Another compressed week for me as I juggle running and competitive archery. My son is really into shooting, and I love this sport. I grew up shooting, so it's been awesome to get back into things. Tomorrow's another tournament, so I moved my LR up to today. 2 weeks left until the triple.... I'm doing a 2 week taper, so it starts now! (taking a page out of BnB's book) Tue (8mi MLR) - Yeesh. Legs are dead from Sunday's simulated triple. And it was hot (83/sunny). And it was windy. That equated to a trifecta of suck. 8:58/149 Wed (12mi MLR) - Decided to wake up before work and run at 5AM to beat the heat. So glad I did! Legs were a little stiff, but felt strong. Ended up being a fantastic run. 8:44/143 Thu (5mi Recovery) - Was supposed to cool off, so I ran at lunch... Thanks a lot, weatherman. It was sunny and 76. Couldn't keep my HR down. 9:41/138 Fri (7mi GA) - Just finished raining and it was gorgeous out. Legs were a bit fresher, and it showed. 8:11/148 Sat (18mi LR) - Whoa. Kick ### run. Legs had that tired but strong feel to them again. I was totally locked in today and felt like I could go forever. 8:44/145 50mi for the shortened week. Feeling awesome.
Damn...you guys are crazy. Shortened week he says...

What race are you training for again? Any marathons coming up?

:endorphinejunky:

Training for a trail triple (2 weeks away). Half marathon, 10K, and then 5K in one morning. I did this one last year and had an absolute blast. I can't wait to get back there.

No marathons until the fall for me.

Boy, that's a ton of mileage you've been putting in for a half marathon. What's your goal time?

Nah, I'd be doing something pretty close to this (with more speedwork) if I was training for just a road HM....

This isn't just a half though, its 3 races (22.4mi total). Since its a trail race, and a moderately hard one, I won't be sniffing any PRs. Going to go out around a 1:50 for the HM and then go by feel from there. Hoping I'll have more in the tank than I did last year and can run more even times for all 3 races.

BnB - that was an amazing read. I got goose bumps. Inspirational.

Good luck to the Boston crew. Have had some great Patriots Days here, following our guys. Looking forward to another.

Same morning. :excited:

The Triple-Crown 3-race combo--individual or team. A half-marathon for distance, a 10K for some up-tempo, and a 5K just for laughs = 22.4 miles all in one morning! The Triple Crown is scored by sum of finish places (not combined times) among TC runners only--low sum wins (tie-breaker rule: faster half-marathon finish wins). Please note the time intervals between starts; if you finish one race after the next race has already started, no problem--just grab some refreshments and head out again! The main objective is to finish!

Our Boston crew:

grue - 3211

Workhouse - 23038

Juxt - 5730

SteveC - 285

wilked - 23935
Is there some way to save this list as favorites on the mobile app?
Not sure about the mobile app, but the regular site can save a list of 'my runners'.

http://www.baa.org/individual.html

Just do a search by the bib numbers and then click the little checkmark next to the name and it will add it to your list. (menu is on the right).

That's pretty crazy. What were you times like last year? How many people run all three legs as individuals? You have any chance to place in your age group?

Here's the RR. Long read, of course. http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=302486&page=638#entry14336345I have a good chance to get top 3 AG this year, but little chance to win it. Top 20OA is the goal.

Here's some data based on Athlinks history (and knowledge of grue's PR) and McMillan pacing. Boston's first miles are slightly downhill with the potential to go out too fast. The hills occur over miles 16-20, so it gets interesting in the 30K and 35K splits. Remember this is PR data, and Boston is tough to PR ...if nothing else, it's near-impossible to run the tangents (e.g., both SteveC and gruecd have a Boston PR about ten minutes slower than these times ...approximately an extra minute per 5K, which might be a realistic benchmark).

#285 SteveC. PR of 2:37:22 = 6:00/mile = 18:40/5K

#3211 Gruecd. PR of 2:59:48ish = 6:52/mile = 21:20/5K

#5730 Juxt. PR of 3:05:26 = 7:04/mile = 21:57/5K

#23038 Workhorse. PR of 3:26:42 = 7:53/mile = 24:30/5K

#23935 wilked. PR of 3:56:06 = 9:01/mile = 28:00/5K

No split for SteveC yet, oddly. But gruecd at 22:19 ...Juxt at 21:20! The veteran takes it steady; the rookie burns it out of the gates.

The Universal Sports coverage can't get the women's leader correct. The announcers keep saying she is from Colombia, the graphic for her says Mexico.

Edit: Now they have fixed it

All five are on the course. This is so awesome!

Workhorse at a slower pace ...wonder how his toe is holding up.

wilked off to a solid start!

SteveC, gruecd, and Juxt all incredibly steady.

Gotta love Trautwig..."The list of great Canadian marathoners is a short one."
