Here goes nothing...
- our favorite race (overall) -- Hmmm...probably Boston. After crashing and burning my way to a huge positive split at Boston 2008, it felt great to run a good, tactical race en route to running a 3:09 and BQing at Boston! Perhaps more importantly, I spent the whole weekend with a couple dozen of my closest running friends. At times, I almost forgot that I had a race to run!
- our favorite moment within a race -- This one is easy. Getting flashed by a (presumably) drunk spectator at 2 AM during the Ragnar Relay. They looked real, and they were spectacular.
- our most disappointing race (incl. failure to start or finish) -- First thing that comes to mind is the Cheesehead Half. Went out with the goal of running a big PR (a really stupid idea considering the heat) and ended up blowing up and running 1:37
- best workout (whether due to location or pure quality) -- The run I did past the White House and around the monuments in Washington, D.C. was pretty cool. Not much for quality with all the starting and stopping, but a neat experience regardless.
- oddest workout moment --
- funniest experience in training or a race -- Not sure if this qualifies, but it was pretty damn funny watching/listening to my friend Jay drunkenly yelling at the Boston Beer Works employees for (allegedly) stealing his pistachio cannolis
- best memory of one of the other guy's experiences this year -- Gotta be Wraith getting the monkey off his back with the big PR at Veterans. Glad I was there to see it.
- proudest achievement of the year -- New half marathon PR of 1:27:52
- specific goal for the year ahead -- I still want to run a sub-3 marathon, but I'm only planning on running one marathon in 2011 (Boston), and I'm not sure if that's the place to do it. More likely at Houston in January 2012. If I can pick up the swimming, thinking about attempting my first HIM in July.

...he wanted to get this posting done early so he could use the down-time after Christmas to chat with his closest running friends.
b) Oh, no, you youngsters go have your fun. I'll probably be hunkered down in my hotel room writing a research paper, anyway. :kicksanotherrock:
They must have chlorinated the hell out of the pool since Monday. My tongue feels like I drank a dozen martinis last night and my skin feels like it shrunk a few sizes. One of the old timers recommended orange juice to combat the dry mouth. This made things worse. I did get in a good swim regardless. Did 2,500 yards in 2 sets, 1,500 & 1,000 in 47 minutes with a water break between sets.
As for the wetsuit, I have two concerns. If by full, you mean full arms, I would go try one on somehow to see what it feels like. I have to mentally calm myself in my full as I get very claustrophobic in the water in it. Its less of an issue in my farmer john (no arms). Second, and of greater concern is how hot it'll be for the HIM. You will burn up in a full (if it is even legal). If you decide to get it, I'd go the eBay route. :knockwood: I haven't been burned yet on tri gear. The timing doesn't look too bad, BUT, I'd sure want to have you swim 65+ lengths (at once) of a 25 yard pool at once over the winter a few times to know you can do it. Having been a non swimmer jumping in to this sport, I had to know I wasn't going to drown.
, every time I turned around there was more food laying around at work. I have a Christmas party tonight, then dinner on Christmas Day.
18 degrees here this morning, plus a steady west wind. Did 8 miles, with 6 at marathon'ish tempo - 8:00/mi out (into the wind), 7:45/mi back.
