The guy had on pink knee high socks and a tuxedo t-shirt. Not something Ditka would let his guys run inNice Mike Ditka!
Just think, if you would have run as little Ditka you would have smoked that guy.
Well I walkedTired of over eating. Tired of not pushing my pace for awhile. Tired in general.

It doesn't make you feel any better, but I'm right there with you. It's a big reason why I've prioritized some of those adventure trail runs I've been doing off-and-on throughout the spring/summer. Just to do something different. Physical benefits are obvious, but I think the mental ones have provided a greater impact.I think the worst part of marathon training is that if you're doing it right, it takes ####ing forever. I'm still in the establishing a training base phase and time is moving so slowly. I'll get to 50 miles this week but my "long run" is still only 12 miles. I know that the patient approach is the best way to do things especially with my history of injury but damn...I want it to be Nov. now.
have you ever run drunk before? work hard all day/night, grab a few beers to unwind, run your 16 miles, catch a quick 20 minute nap before work the next morning.####### work travel. Did the track workout on Tuesday night and doubt I'll have time to run again until my 20-miler on Sunday. Grrr.![]()
Have I ever run drunk? Is the Pope Catholic?have you ever run drunk before?
It's crazy, these guys actually do know what they're talking about. It took me a while to figure that out too. Just run slow. Keep it up!Progress!
After my Tuesday run of 2.7 miles, went with my workout buddy yesterday afternoon and did 1.6 miles at an 8:56 pace after doing weights. With a dew point of 70 and temp of 88, it wasn't the easiest of runs but at least got it done. I pushed during the 1st mile (8:39 split) but that was part of the point of it for me.
This morning, my wife was going to go do 6 miles in training for her half and I asked if I could come with understanding that I wouldn't be running the whole thing but didn't mind walking and she could keep going. Since we were both going, we brought the 22 month old in her stroller which she's run (and trained with) before.
First of all, the low dew point and temp made a HUGE difference at only 64/73. Second, I just made it a point to take it easy and "jog". But, the best part was that at the 3.75 mile mark, right after a hill, she asked me to start pushing the stroller. It completely threw me off and I couldn't run with it and finally stopped at 4 miles. However, if not for that, I could have definitely kept going and finish the full 6. But.....4 miles!
That was the easiest run I've done. Wasn't sweating at all and had gotten into a zone at that point when she gave me the stroller. And we still had a good downhill portion yet to come that I didn't even get to take advantage of. So, while I'm a little bummed that I didn't get to see if I could have finished all 6 miles, it was easily the most I've run and it actually felt good. Nothing special numbers-wise, but did 4.0 miles at total 9:32 pace. Splits were 9:15/9:30/9:39/9:39 but with most of the elevation during that 4th mile, that last split was actually the fastest when factoring in the grade.
Considering the park where we ran is where we'll be running the 5k in October, I think we're finally onto something here......
Don't sell yourself short - this is really good. My slow miles right now are WAY slower than that.Nothing special numbers-wise, but did 4.0 miles at total 9:32 pace.
You can still squeeze in a push-ups/squats/lunges workout in your room or hotel fitness center ...or do some resistance running in the pool.####### work travel. Did the track workout on Tuesday night and doubt I'll have time to run again until my 20-miler on Sunday. Grrr.![]()

You do realize she's really not talking about running, right? My wife says "we need to start slow, we can't be doing a quick fast pace to start".
Exactly one week before the biggest race of your life.Oh yeah, I know... And I'm listening.

Now I just need to know when I have to start eating all the rice.
saw an old Vietnam vet (wearing his hat) running this afternoonListening to Dave Letterman on Howard Stern, and right off the bat he talked about how he ran 10 miles on his 70th birthday. Love it.
Some older gentlemen breezed right by me this morning, and I couldn't have cared less; I just kept moving along at my 9:00 pace. I am getting a lot better on focusing on myself as opposed to trying to keep up with others after my recent marathon.saw an old Vietnam vet (wearing his hat) running this afternoonhad to be early 70s, i'd guess. looked fit and was moving steadily along.

I've seen people have the belt going way faster and do this. It just seems like they're asking to get hurt. Agreed. Very dumb.I've never understood the jumping off the treadmill either. It takes what, 3-5 seconds to slow it down and speed it up? So dumb.
About the same time as the 6 chicken breasts.Oh yeah, I know... And I'm listening.

Looks like you did well.10k warmup 5k in the morning. Not expecting much more than just getting out there and seeing how everything feels. If good, adding distance next week for 10k prep. If bad,![]()
It went well. Humid morning and I met a real cutie I ran with for a while so I prolly left another minute or two out there (it was worth it). Knee felt good. Ran in a brand new pair of Glycerins this morning. The one thing that was a little different for me was that I warmed up a little more and stayed warm until the start. That seemed to help a lot. Gonna get in some more distance this week before next Saturday's 10k (up and over a brand new bridge). Right now things are looking good and I'm motivated again.Looks like you did well.![]()

Solid! Great week.ETA: If you include the 10 minutes of form drills before every run, total training time was 11 hours 43 minutes. Not too shabby.

Very pleased as it was one of the warmest weeks of the year and definitely the most humid. I don't think the due point got below 72.

I continue to run every day. I managed 67 miles for the week which is the most since spring. Heart rate is slowly declining. Averaged 7.7 mph/135 this week. I'm also feeling mostly healthy (never completely though!). I still feel like I have a long way to go and don't want to commit to an "A" race yet.I finally feel like I'm back in a running routine after a lot of days off due to sloth and injury. I've run the last 10 days in a row.
I feel out of shape though. I managed a 51 mile week averaging 7.6 mph, 144 avg. heart rate. Compare that to, for example, last March when I averaged 8.0/130. I was thinking about running the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon on November 4 but I'm doubting I'll have enough time to train right.
- it's 8.9% gradient - I don't know how difficult that should be but I starting running up it and got maybe 1/5 of the way when my HR hit 183 and I had to stop and walk. Thought I was going to puke when I finished.Nice week and you're are running really efficiently, has your coach given you your plan for the rest of your cycle? I am interested as to when he will start increasing your mileage now that you're about 12 weeks out from your marathon.50 miles total @ 7:59(150)

He hasn't given me much yet. I only see about 2 weeks at a time. I've got a 14 miler planned for Saturday and I'll have 15 total miles (running rock n roll 1/2 as a workout) for my long run the following week.Nice week and you're are running really efficiently, has your coach given you your plan for the rest of your cycle? Only seeing 2 weeks at a time would drive me nuts.He hasn't given me much yet. I only see about 2 weeks at a time. I've got a 14 miler planned for Saturday and I'll have 15 total miles (running rock n roll 1/2 as a workout) for my long run the following week.
To be honest I am starting to wonder what his is plan to ramp me up to legit "long runs" because it does feel like it's time. Wondering how soon I can do a 20 and how many 20's I'll get total this training cycle.
Oh believe me I'm the same way but I'm just trying to stay patient.Only seeing 2 weeks at a time would drive me nuts.
