Well the other option is that I sit on this time and you go run 10 min faster than your goal time. Not sure what page, article, and section number this falls under, but you cannot attempt it twice.
No worries. We'll overcome. Just get some sprints in before the mile race.Apologies to Team Juxt. So disappointed in myself.
I’m counting this as I don’t want endure that ever again.
Great job! When I was scrolling through my Strava feed, I first saw the title "uphill cooldown of shame" and thought "uh-oh" but it was great to see you come in well ahead of your projected time!#### - I want to die. GL to those that still have to run this![]()

Thanks --- the "cooldown of shame" was b/c it was uphill after a net downhill run...and was painful. I should have had my wife come pick me up.Great job! At least on the web, your HR is where it always is. 136 AHR this morning.WTF Strava? I always run the same 4 mile course the day before a race so I can compare pace and heart rate from the "matched runs" list. Suddenly they no longer display heart rate and have some "relative effort" score that doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense.
Thanks Z --- I actually went out how I wanted to. I had more downhill and the wind with me the first 3 miles. I knew going in to it the run that mile 5 was going to suck. It is on an open road and against the wind and even though it is net zero elevation, it had the most "up" of all my miles. It was slower and more draining than I had hoped though...but was able to hang on until the end.@xulf!!!
Kick ###! Went out hot and then a wicked kick at the end.
Blew the doors off sub-45 and kept going.
Awesome run, #BMF.
Oh, I know what you're talking about now. Yeah, RE has now replaced AHR in that "Matched Runs" table. That sucks. At least on the web, your HR is where it always is. 136 AHR this morning.
Someone already did that and ended the competition.Well the other option is that I sit on this time and you go run 10 min faster than your goal time.
Let's say TeamJuxt is winning by 2 secs/mile going into Sunday, and the last person left is someone on their team who's going to be significantly slower than their average pace. He decides to take the DNS, and they win. Totally not fair.Someone already did that and ended the competition.
So I can pause my watch instead of getting hit by a truck?but let's try to remember the spirit of this thing, too.

I was actually thinking about that last night (not you getting hit by a truck, but the whole "watch pausing" thing). I think we need to just trust each other's integrity. So I can pause my watch instead of getting hit by a truck?
Thanks!![]()
Agree. Awesome run @SteelCurtain.@SteelCurtain, you're a machine. 12 days after your 4/4/48, and with nowhere near your normal level of training, you put down a 45-minute 10K! Don't sell yourself short (your comment on Strava), that's badass.
Yeah, I've been thinking about these routes way too much the last few days. I've been all over Map My Run trying to find a route that's fair with minimal interruptions. The one I chose has 1 possibility for stoppage. Any other route I try and create ends up having to cross a major intersection at least once. The only way I can avoid that is to run circles in my neighborhood but it would literally be up a hill. Down a hill. Back up a hill. Down a hill. Every .25 mile.I was actually thinking about that last night (not you getting hit by a truck, but the whole "watch pausing" thing). I think we need to just trust each other's integrity.
Thanks for noting this. Everybody needs to be safe.I was actually thinking about that last night (not you getting hit by a truck, but the whole "watch pausing" thing). I think we need to just trust each other's integrity.

Everyone who's able to run, runs. As you all know, I'm as competitive as anyone in here, but let's try to remember the spirit of this thing, too.
Yup, everyone here is pretty cool.I think everyone here is on the up and up when it comes to integrity.
I think that if you haven't declared yourself out prior to the first day of the race period, and then end up not running, you get the time of the slowest person (on your team) that did run.Let's say TeamJuxt is winning by 2 secs/mile going into Sunday, and the last person left is someone on their team who's going to be significantly slower than their average pace. Right. But I'm talking about someone who declared themselves "in" and did run.I think that if you haven't declared yourself out prior to the first day of the race period, and then end up not running, you get the time of the slowest person (on your team) that did run.
While I do have a strong stomach and can usually eat shortly before running without issue, I'm not that crazy - pizza was about 2 hours before and I ate less than normal.Wow! I’m not beating that. Great job teammate.
Two things that blew my mind.
1. Pizza right before you ran?![]()
2. No warmup? You just went after your wife dropped you off? (30 seconds doesn’t count as a warmup to me)
How old are you? 16?
That was the rule at the start. I like it.Just wanna be clear about something (my turn to make a unilateral ruling). If you choose not to "count" your initial run for whatever reason, and then later decide against a re-do, then we're using your initial time. No deliberately taking a DNS just to manipulate the team results.
I guess what I'm saying is that there's really no need to "declare" whether or not you're counting your run. It goes into the sheet, and if you decide later than you want to attempt a re-do (within the window), then go ahead.
I'm using Suunto. Strange because the watch is charging via the USB, it's just not downloading the file. I'll mess around with it later.@BassNBrew - You can do a manual upload to Strava. Just save the GPX file from Garmin Connect to your computer and then import it to Strava.

Yeah, I was thinking about this in light of jshare's comments. It's one of the things that made me eliminate some decent route options - I was trying to avoid any sketchy crossings, especially in the latter half of the course as to me the late race brain fog is real and I don't want to have to make any difficult split-second decisions late race. I also ran without music because I wanted to be able to hear any traffic approaching the road crossings since some of the sight lines were a bit limited. Thanks for noting this. Everybody needs to be safe.
I'm guessing you can do the same. Plug in the watch (essentially using it as a removable disk), locate the GPX file, and import to Strava.I'm using Suunto. Strange because the watch is charging via the USB, it's just not downloading the file. I'll mess around with it later.
2nd-best for you. Nice work. Everyone seems to be running in tougher (warmer) weather than the 5K. So 2.17x your 5K time is right in line with most of the others we're seeing. Lucky to have you on #TeamJuxt! Not a PR.![]()
But it's in the books.
TLDR - I ran, I suffered, it sucked Lemme start off by saying if there is anyone to blame other than myself it is work. Someone scheduled a meeting at 830 which I couldn’t miss. I also have a required 10am. Kinda ruined my Friday run window. Saturday will be beautiful, but that will be for my ride. Let me also add that I had a good amount of schtick planned, but work ruined that plan. I will need to make it up on the 1mi, plan below. Woke up like 615. Standard morning of oatmeal and bear chasing. Mission accomplished. Got out to track to run like 730, there were like 10 cars. WTF!?!? Started my warmup and saw I would need to dodge at least one guy, not a huge deal. Started the run and wanted to pace like 7:15. Came off a little hot which was expected. I didn’t want to start off slow and worry I would have to make it up. However, not far into the race I would tell it wasn’t my day, or at least what I wanted my day to be. I knew I was suffering properly, but my time was no where near 7:15. It was just north of 7:30 and nothing I tried worked. I tried suffering a little more, nope. I tried increasing turnover, nope. Dang! So like coming into mile 2-3 I knew I wouldn’t hit my goal. Oh well, the truth was I was suffering plenty. That’s what I was in control over so that’s what I focused on. I had a hard time keeping a good breathing pace, I’m think the 10k is not a good distance for me. I could also blame the weather dew/humidity but only grue chumps do that. So I suffered the best I could. Not happy with my time. I didn’t even beat my 15k PR which is a disappointment, but I guess expected based on the training I was doing at that time. Time to move on. Since I didn’t get to do the schtick I wanted, here is my proposal for my 1 mi: I will setup a zoom call for my run. Any of you BMFs can join the call to cheer or jeer me on as I run. My mic will be open and you will get to hear me suffer. However, I will be recording it for future humor purposes.![]()
would suck if you forgot to save it and lost it forever!I'm using Suunto. Strange because the watch is charging via the USB, it's just not downloading the file. I'll mess around with it later.
I had kind of one this morning but only because of a ####### driver while I was winding my way through an apartment complex... which led to the distraction of me to build a top 3 list of most terrifying things to encounter on a run...Yeah let’s avoid interactions with vehicles.
I swear some drivers absolutely lose their minds when dealing with pedestrians. The classic is the determination to beat you to the intersection, which is funny in my case because I typically pull a tri-man and just turn and cross later if there's going to be any holdup or confusion.I had kind of one this morning but only because of a ####### driver while I was winding my way through an apartment complex... which led to the distraction of me to build a top 3 list of most terrifying things to encounter on a run...
3. A big scary, unknown dog when all along out in the middle of nowhere - usually harmless but you just never know!
2. Hidden holes and tree roots to tear up your ankles when off road.
1. A car making a herky-jerky, last second turn right in front of you and you see that there quarter panel right by you is all ready smashed in.
@TeamGrue isn't done yet.....I just want to clarify, I have been joking about @Juxtatarot and @tri-man 47. Those guys are amazing, and I hope they know I wasn’t being serious. As far as the comment to @BassNBrew, it had nothing to do with his run. I was again joking about the rules. He is part of our team and as important as everyone. I was speaking about Duck’s run. While I fully respect Duck and know he didn’t predict his time with much thought, it’s frustrating that someone beat their time by 12 minutes. I can understand a few minutes here or there, but 12 minutes!
The completion was pretty much over before it started. I realize this is a friendly competition but it’s still a competition. It’s a competition that has motivated me the past 2 months. I’ve been eyeing this race and really wanted to contribute after what happened with the 5K. But now, there’s no reason for me to go out and race this thing. Rant over. I’m a sore loser at times. #TeamGrue forever. I’ll see myself out.
Fixed the issue. It's now in Strava so it happened even though it really didn't happen since I'm running again.I'm guessing you can do the same. Plug in the watch (essentially using it as a removable disk), locate the GPX file, and import to Strava.
I may be slow, but I'm not a moron. If I run that distance I'm dang well saving it.would suck if you forgot to save it and lost it forever!

Sorry dude, you couldn't hide me in right field. It's not on Duck for putting up a great showing, I'm the fat old dude boat anchor that Gru is dragging around. Maybe next time he doesn't get stuck with the last pick. I think Triman said something about the mile round being worth double points (like Family Feud) is a team swept the first two rounds. That distance is in my wheelhouse.I just want to clarify, I have been joking about @Juxtatarot and @tri-man 47. Those guys are amazing, and I hope they know I wasn’t being serious. So wait, I should make an official determination today on if I’m able to run before Sunday? If that’s the “ruling,” then I guessRight. But I'm talking about someone who declared themselves "in" and did run.
I do hereby declare I will NOT be running. WHEW, saved our team from catastrophe.
