Randy Moss to Patriots? (1 Viewer)

If this was true, and Moss has already been notifed of the trade to the point he had made travel arrangements to take his physical we'd all know about it. The Raiders and Patriots might be talking but if/when Moss finds out we are all going to find out shortly after.
If Moss knew he was going to NE and Belichik's orders are always followed, how come none of Moss's bags are packed, how come he hasn't made a call to anyone to let him know he is coming...You can't handle the truth!
Obviously he was getting his #88 jersey sized.....

I'm not certain he understood he was agreeing with me but if that's good enough to get a classic you should up your standards.

so the Raiders starting wideouts would be... who?
Like that matters. They can not possibly do any worse. Giving up Moss for a first rounder at least puts something in the bank. That being said ... please don't mistake that above statment as me believing this rumor. I think that the Raiders would need more then a low first round pick (with a stipulation) to give up Moss.

I just heard a rumor that Belichek just found out that they got Moss and cut him for having "diminishing skills".

If no linky, then I thinky, your post stinky!

The same guy claims that the Pats are installing field turf AFTER the Colts game and before the Bears game

I have not heard this news anywhere, has anyone else?

Good stuff. I am SO dropping the Pat's Current Turf and picking up their New Turf (it wasn't drafted!) before the rest of my leaguemates here about this!
:goodposting: I am having bye week issues and am thinking of picking up the Cardinals "mobile grass" (not the kind found in Nate Newton's van) and dropping the Pat's turf.

6 team - PPM (points per mow) League

Natural Grass: Soldier Field, FedEx Field, Gillette Stadium

Field turf: Metrodome, Ford Field

Moss could grow on Pats -- Gabriel backs deal for former Raider teammate

FOXBORO - One impact NFL player desperately wants to be traded before today’s 4 p.m. deadline. A Sports Illustrated report over the weekend said the Patriots could be interested.

That player is Randy Moss. And the man who knows him better than anyone in the Patriots locker room says he’d make a seamless transition here.

“He’d be a perfect fit in this offense,” said former Raiders teammate Doug Gabriel. “He loves to work. If Randy were here, every other receiver would want to pick up their games 110 percent. It wouldn’t just be a small push. It would be a big push.”

Moss wants out of Oakland, where the winless Raiders are the laughingstocks of the NFL. He has requested a trade and by all accounts would be open to playing in New England, where he could satisfy his desire to win a championship.

Whether the Patriots and Raiders could even agree on an asking price is the great unknown, but the Patriots own two first-round picks in next year’s draft. Speaking of the trade deadline in general, Patriots coach Bill Belichick wouldn’t rule out anything yesterday.

“I wouldn’t say we’re actively trying to do anything, but if the opportunity was there, we would definitely look into it,” Belichick said. “Every day, all 365 of them, if we have an opportunity to improve this team, we’ll take it.”

Though the odds of Moss being moved are remote, they’re not nonexistent, even in a league in which blockbuster in-season deals rarely occur.

Because of a change in the collective bargaining agreement noted by SI over the weekend, the Raiders are in a much better position to handle the cap hit if they trade Moss, who has $4.85 million remaining on this season’s contract and $21 million over the next two years.

Instead of absorbing Moss’ prorated yearly cap numbers at once, the Raiders could push them off to next season, making a trade more palatable.

The 29-year-old Moss already has topped 10,000 yards and 100 touchdowns since being selected in the first round of the 1998 draft by the Vikings. The Patriots passed on him that year in favor of Robert Edwards after owner Robert Kraft and player personnel man Bobby Grier deemed his character issues too troubling.

Moss has been accused of quitting on the Raiders this season.

“I don’t know him, but if he came here and was a good citizen, worked hard and played the way he has in the past, he’d be a good fit,” said Patriots safety Rodney Harrison. “But if he came in here and was a distraction and a disruption, he wouldn’t be a good fit.”

Gabriel said the Pats would have nothing to worry about, because he believes Moss is the most misunderstood player in the league. The two talk frequently and spoke Saturday, though they didn’t talk trade.

“You can be around him for 30 minutes or an hour and see the difference right away,” Gabriel said. “Your cheeks would probably be hurting because you’d be laughing so hard. That’s the way it is. You just have to get to know him.

“You might hear him yell and scream, but everyone yells and screams. When you love to win, that’s the way it is.”

Gabriel considers Moss like an uncle to his 3-year-old son, Doug Jr. He recounted last year’s bye, which he spent at Moss’ home.

“My son asked Randy for a piece of candy and Randy wouldn’t give it to him,” Gabriel said. “He told Randy he wouldn’t be his friend ever again. Ever since then they’ve had a big argument.

“They fight all the time, but they’re just messing with each other. They’re always playing little games. Randy took my son as his little nephew and I like that.”

It’s not inconceivable that Moss and Doug Jr. could renew their fun in person by this afternoon. Moss wants to win a Super Bowl and he would have as good a shot here as anywhere.

“It comes down to this,” Harrison said. “First you get the money, then you want to win.”

Moss has his money. Like Corey Dillon before him, perhaps the Patriots can make him a winner.

With all due respect to John Tomase (actually, no respect is due), according to Mike Reiss of the Boston Globe, the Patriots have not even spoken to the Raiders about Randy Moss. No contact. None.

If you think that Al Davis is going to make a trade to the Pats within a 6 hour period of time, then you are dreaming. Al Davis can't take a dump in less than 6 hours.

You mean this story from today's Boston Globe?
NESN reported that the Patriots are prepared to install a synthetic grass surface at Gillette Stadium prior to the Nov. 26 game against the Bears, although team officials didn't confirm that report. Spokesman Stacey James said the team has been in discussions for some time to improve the field, but a decision has yet to be announced.

Interesting.

Obviously improves moss's chances of living up to his potential if this deal goes through.... brady to moss would be :moneybag:

4 sure. I have Brady in a dynasty league and it's painful to watch him with 100 yds through 3 quarters. Just the threat of having Moss on the field would help immensely. (and yes I know the chances of this happening are extremely remote)

Chris M. was reporting on ESPN last night said that "NO ONE" wants to trade for R. Moss. He said that sources have told him that Randy's lack of effort is either: deminished skills or half hearted play (something along these lines) and that teams around the NFL preceive neither of these to be desired on their team.

So we all can wake up to reality and that includes me (Moss owner) :bag:

From PFT:MOSS TO PATS RUMORS GATHERING STEAMOur network of NFL sources is buzzing with talk that the New England Patriots are trying to work a trade with the Raiders for receiver Randy Moss. "It's getting strong," a league source told us a little while ago.

He actually takes many in a 6 hr. period. No one physically sees him enter a restroom bc who needs to when you have maximum absorbtion with Depends. Based on this claim on Moss, maybe the Sunday night guys were right.... Davis MAY bring Howie Long back!

Gathering steam huh? Hmmmmmmmm. Let me know when there's a fire. Moss would learn REALLLL quick who the boss is and if he doesn't like it, he'll get to know the bench REALLL well.

Looks like any steam is gone:As Tom Curran of NBCSports.com reports, and as we separately have confirmed, the Oakland Raiders won't be trading receiver Randy Moss to the New England Patriots.Although a league source with knowledge of the situation in Oakland tells us that a last-minute trade of Moss hasn't been ruled out, an industry insider explained to us on Tuesday morning that owner Al Davis is unwilling to acknowledge that his team is bad, and is likewise unwilling to concede that point to the rest of the world by trading the previously perennial Pro Bowler. But there definitely was increased talk in league circles about a deal getting done, and a move to New England would have made sense. Still, Davis is the guy with the final say, and if he's not willing to do it, it isn't going to happen. The general impression we get is that there haven't even been serious trade discussions involving Moss or fellow disgruntled wideout Jerry Porter. There was interest within the Steelers' organization as to both of them last week, with a preference for Porter. As we're now told, however, the issue never made its way to the desk of coach Bill Cowher for a decision. We also reported a couple of weeks back that Jaguars assistant coach Mike Tice was lobbying for the team to make a move for Moss. Tice was not, by all appearances, successful in persuading the key people to give it a try.

Al Davis is the Kim Jong-il of the NFL.

Probably thinks it's 1968 and he's still got Lamonica, Biletnikoff, and Wells (not to mention Otto, Upshaw, Shell...).

The trade didn't happen but Randy isn't worthless in Oakland. Don't look now but he's actually had three weeks in a row getting quality points. Shhhh.

I liked the #88 Dodds! For the above I wasn't agreeing I was just having some fun. The trade would make sense, but so do a hundred trades that don't happen.
