MLB screwed up. This game should be played. Very minimal rain since they postponed. They should have at least waited a little longer to make the call.
If there were no Sunday night football, the no rain, no game bit would have me :hot:  :wall:

I think they did not want a repeat of the tigers yankee series where they only got an inning and a half in.

I made one post (NAPOLI!!!) in the Tiger thread when everyone and their dog in that thread were wishing for a Rangers loss so they could have home field advantage. I hardly consider that trolling.
Don't worry about that. Also don't worry about Doctor Detroit posting seven times in the Ranger thread. Just agree with all his points, else be labeled a whiner. GLLL.

Delmon Young has been added to the ALCS roster.
Maggs down leaves room for Delmon. Hopefully he heals quickly. Thanks for so many memories Maggs. Enjoy your retirement.
Maggs might latch on as a DH for some AL team, but his big paydays are long gone. I always liked Maggs and wish him well. From all accounts I have heard he was a true pro. Came in early everyday to get his work in and never got into trouble off the field.

That move surprises me a bit. I had a similar injury before and it will be hard for Delmon to take a full cut at the ball for the next couple of weeks. The harder he swings, the worse it is going to hurt. It is something he can play through, but it will impact his swing and throws. I doubt he sees action the next couple of games.

Yep, Maggs gave us some incredible years. I am glad he finished the season strong and ended on a good note helping the Tigers wrap up the division. Also batted well in the playoffs hitting the highest average on the team. Really could have used him.

He is starting and batting third.

So top of the first, Holland throws nothing but fastballs inside just to see if he can even turn on it, right?

Hope so, then maybe Delmon can hit a comebacker that finishes the job Holland's bic shavers cannot.

Good call here Disco Stu. For a guy who just started following baseball last year you have little to add, I agree, people should agree with me.

He may have any easier time hitting than fielding. This is why it would be nice to DH him right now but that is impossible. Young said himself he could probably swing but throwing was the problem so maybe the real test is a ball in the corner today. Maybe the Tigers can have a PH thrower standing next to him out there, if the Rangers would allow it.

Found this on SB Nation....

Detroit Tigers1. Austin Jackson CF2. Ramon Santiago 2B3. Delmon Young LF4. Miguel Cabrera 1B5. Victor Martinez DH6. Ryan Raburn RF7. Jhonny Peralta SS8. Alex Avila C9. Brandon Inge 3BMax Scherzer is Detroit’s starter on the mound.Texas Rangers1. Ian Kinsler 2B2. Elvis Andrus SS3. Josh Hamilton CF4. Michael Young DH5. Adrian Beltre 3B6. Mike Napoli C7. Nelson Cruz RF8. David Murphy LF9. Mitch Moreland 1B
Tiger's D will be airtight!

I like this lineup. Little worried about Young's health, but if he can swing the bat, go for it. I like our chances tonight better now with Young back in. I hope Avila can start hitting again though. Tiger fans were ready to run Inge and Rayburn out early in the season, but I really like the way they have played lately. May not be the stars of any game, but will make a nice contribution here and there.

Oblique strains suck. I messed mine up about 4 months back. It still bothers me quite a bit in a variety of situations. I've seen 2 drs. thinking at times I must have a hernia for it to hurt this bad.

Beltre is red hot, that was a god pitch that he just took the other way. Nothing from Miggy and VMART is really starting to sting.

No Young would not have made that play, ever.

Maybe next time the Yankees will build a big boy park.

I think I saw three check swings make it out to the warning track last series.
