Ray Rice, buy low? (1 Viewer)

quick update: Rice owner rejected my Nicks/Charles for Rice/Colston trade (as I expected)then I log on an hour ago and see "TRADE PENDING APPROVAL", and what do you know, the Rice owner just traded RAY RICE for Matt Forte and Dexter McClusterI had a very good LOL at that trade, and I was kinda pissed to be honest...
i got a text from the Rice owner in my $ league ..... wanted to know if i had interest in Rice & Cassel (poop) for J.Charles (he owned him last year) & B.Jackson ....(his RB's of note are Greene, Rice, & Harrison- mine Charles, Best, P.Thomas)..... he's out of town & told me he'd call me tomarrow about it .......
done deal ..... i got Rice for Charles & B.Jackson
.... im hoping the Ravens arent hiding injury news & that it truely is only bruise ..... id like to start him from next week on out.

Is Ray Rice still a buy low? We didn't expect anything Sunday with the Steelers and he still has a juicy playoff schedule. Worry is that he isn't getting any passes with all the receiving options on Balt.

I got him for Calvin Johnson

Just had an interesting trade thrown at me

He wants:

Romo

Rice

He is giving up:

Rodgers

Forte

B Jackson

My other rbs are:

LT

Moreno

Bush

I'm trying to figure out this trade...maybe he wants his QB to have his bye week gone. This is a PPR redraft league

me thinks Rice is top 8 from week 6 on...way below draft value and last year's production but still a value. There are a number of issues that limit his value but things should open up as Flacco builds rapport with his receivers. Things will open up underneath and teams blitz the Ravens more

It better happen. He's killing his owners' seasons right now.

If you look at Rice's stats last year, he didn't really start to pick it up until mid season...that is when OLines start to get an edge on Dlines. I would guess the combo of tough opening schedule plus a more cohesive oLne will portend graet things soon.

per Rotoworld:

Ray Rice (knee) has resumed practicing without limitations.

He's a safe bet to start and carry his usual 18-24 touch workload against the Broncos in Week 5. Despite playing off the bench last Sunday, Rice will have no trouble reestablishing himself as the go-to tailback in Baltimore. Oct. 6 - 5:36 pm et

To answer the question, as a Rice owner in a keeper league, I am worried. I think if you can buy him on the cheap then it's definitely worth it, but have a hard time believing people who drafted/kept him would be willingly to part with him for such a low return on their investment. Schedule and Flacco/play calling have been brutal.

Just offered LT for Ray Rice straight up in theory to my room-mate and he said OK. Think this is an accurate assessment of Rice's value?

Considering he already has Foster and Bradshaw, I don't see how you "highly doubt it". LTs numbers at this point are head and heels above Rice's, and although a definitely sell high and buy low, how is that so crazy for him to consider? I personally see both sides. Rice has not looked good thus far, although its been against some tough run defenses.

I am holding him. Wouldn't get anything decent from him. That being said I am not considering him a must start every week. Starting Torain over him this week and will hope his play improves so he can get back into my lineup next week and beyond. I want to see him have a good game and play a whole game on the injured knee.

I've offered Harvin for him, straight up. We'll see what happens.
Good luck. I just acquired Rice for Addai & Ocho and I'm about to consummate a trade of Harvin for McGahee. Harvin was his third choice behind Brandon Llyod and Mike Williams (TB). Just to give you a flavor for what people think of Harvin. i.e. don't get your hopes up.

Also have Torain and considering playing him over Rice. That's probably the line of thinking to have about him right now: wait until he has a good game with a lot of carries before inserting him. With the injury, McGahee still getting carries, the constant passing, I don't feel good rolling with him yet.
