RB Breece Hall, NYJ (2 Viewers)

The Athletic's Connor Hughes writes that Breece Hall is "now the Batman to [Michael] Carter’s Robin. The Jets will use both, but Hall is the lead back."

Hall has impressed in OTAs, with Mike LaFleur calling him a "fluid mover" who "sneaks up on defenders" and who is "a special talent." Don't be surprised if Hall's fantasy stock continues to inch up as we get more OTA and training camp buzz. Your window to snap him up in the third or fourth round will slam shut in the near future.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Jets RB Breece Hall will sign his rookie deal.

Hall, a second-round pick in the 2022 draft, is among the last rookies to hold out on a contract, presumably wanting more guaranteed money than the Jets were willing to offer their new RB1. Look for Hall to come to terms with the team and enter training camp as the No. 1 back in what will likely be a run-first New York offense. Michael Carter, an excellent pass catcher and solid rusher, could see some snaps as the No. 2 back.

Lev Bell is the comparison here. 

 
Depending on the hype, I could see him rising to as high as RB13.  Young RB's that show well early always skyrocket. Not saying this will happen, but a strong preseason would have him jump the likes of Conner, Zeke, Fournette, Akers IMO.

As a Jets fan....I want to see how the offense vibes early before I consider taking the plunge. Obviously preseason can only tell us so much, but I want to see how Wilson looks and i want to know that Becton is healthy and in shape.

If I like what I see, I would consider hall in the 3rd depending on my draft spot and who I get in the first 2 rounds. I believe in his talent and I believe the Jets will give him a strong Rb2 type work load.

Would I LIKE to have a stud Jets rb on my team? Sure. But I've seen enough bad football to not give their players much of a Homer bump (if any).

He won’t be going quite so late anymore though.

Breece went end of round 4 in my 12 team redraft Monday.

Carter went middle of round 10.

That sounds about right in line with the mocks I've done, in fact most of the mocks I've done Hall went right around the 5th, and Carter was almost always sitting there smiling in the pool of undrafted players well into rds 14-15.

That's going to change though, and I've felt Carter was basically ignored the last few months.......until now.

I'm not so sure that Breece Hall is the elite prospect that everyone seems to think that he is. I'm even less sure that he's going to fill a three-down role as a rookie.

Only thing that bugs me is that nobody was high on him until he put that big 40 time up. Then, the gullible Jets bit on him as an elite prospect. I mean, eyeball test is great but remove that 40 and he was never a world beater to me.

Kind of get Lawrence Maroney vibes. They all can't be successes.
 
It's the preseason. I don't stock in anything till the lights come on for real. The offense is not the offense they are going to run. Sure they have base plays and you look at the guys fighting for a roster spot but they are not showing all their cards and no one wants to get players hurt in the preseason.
 

Breece Hall had six rushes for 23 yards in the Jets' Week 1 loss to the Ravens, adding six catches for 38 yards.​


Hall didn't get much run until the second half, and got ten of Joe Flacco's 19 running back targets on the day. Michael Carter saw ten rushing attempts against the Ravens. It's tough to draw many conclusions from the Jets' backfield usage in this game -- a lopsided affair in which Flacco threw 59 passes. Hall's usage wasn't hateful considering Carter dominated snaps early on. The rookie should be considered a RB3 in Week 2 against the Browns.

Haven't made a final decision yet, but I think he's on my bench until he shows me something more. Other than guys like Zeke, Saquon or Najee who had the keys handed to them right away, it generally takes a little while for rookies to hit their stride.

Fortunately for me, it appears I may have hit on a couple late rounders in Henderson and JRob, so I may have the luxury of sitting Hall.
 
He will likely get his opportunities at some point, but it's not like Carter is a slouch. Hall would have to totally blow up to keep Carter on the bench for the most part. And it's not like Carter is going anywhere for the next three years.
 
I took him in two dynasty drafts at 1.01 and have no reservations. He's got the talent, he's got the draft capital. I don't expect any rookie RB to get 20+ carries 17 games a year. This doesn't worry me one bit, and I'm actually stoked he got the receiving love he did. That bodes very well.

It was also in the pouring rain. I don't think he's as good as other year's 1.01 and him being consensus there goes to show just how weak this RB class is.

I like Javonte Williams and Travis Etienne much more than him. This is the 1.01. You're supposed to be getting Adrian Peterson, Ezekiel Elliot, Todd Gurley, Sarquan Barkley, etc.


Don't forget though, even Adrian Peterson had to split carries from Chester Taylor to start his career. I just don't think he's an elite prospect and his situation stinks. I had 1.01 and I traded out of it for Michael Thomas + Damien Harris. It wasn't just Hall, it was a down year for 1.01 altogether. Many very good but no standout fantasy prospects.


No regrets so far.

Right, was actually just typing that out when I saw you already said it. A little surprised by the negativity.

I'll relay this as well in case anyone did not hear it. About two weeks ago I was listening to a Move the Sticks podcast with Daniel Jeremiah where he was forecasting some production for rookies. For quick back story DJ and Joe Douglass used to work together and remain fairly tight. Anyway not to make this to long but DJ had just gone to Jet's camp the week before this podcast and his projections for Hall were basically what would net you close to around 300 fantasy points in a season. Want to say something like 1500-1600 total yards, 50 receptions. He also said in his only fantasy draft of the year he took him 11th overall.

FWIW last year he did a similar podcast, and he does not issue fantasy advice , but the numbers he projected for Elijah Moore would have led all rookie WR's. Obviously he was not high enough on Chase(join the club), but as we know after a slow start Moore spent 6 weeks as the number 8 WR in PPG despite a turnstile situation at QB. And oh, this year if you took his projections and applied them to fantasy the WR who would lead in fantasy production would be Dotson which looks pretty solid early on. But that call does not mean as much as what he said about Moore last year or Hall this year because he's getting info from inside the building which is only reason I bring this up, he's got intel not aviailable to us.

So be patient. Carter is good, he's not going away but I would anticpate him falling into more of a Pollard type complementary role as the season progresses. And don't forget Hall's got a patient running style which in general can take some time getting into rhythm but especially difficult until the OL gels.

I think like with most things, the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Hall is going to increase his load by game and be fantasy relevant. He won't be an RB1 (or maybe even RB2 this year), but he's going to be a solid flex (maybe RB2) I think for the 2nd half of the year.

He's already a solid flex and a low end RB2, literally, and I do think by the second half of the season, assuming health of course, he will finish the back half as an RB1, probably lower end of the scale.

Possibly. I don't see him hitting RB1 territory this year but who knows. He has the talent for sure.

I suppose he was flex-worthy already in PPR, but he had only 3 points in standard.

It's true I can't say I'm through the roof confident. I only play PPR and generally view a RB hitting around 15 fantasy points a game as in the lowest end of RB1 territory contention. That's about the range I see him getting to in a few weeks, not right now but I also don't hate idea of putting him in lineups now as a weak RB2 option.

Those numbers are pretty rancid. Those are Darrell Henderson numbers of which nobody has been placated by in the fantasy community.


You can sell your soul for fantasy points, but from an NFL perspective he did little to garner more touches from coach. Kinda like Trent Richardson as a rookie. He was putting up fantasy numbers but longterm from a real football perspective he was not helping them win games and erego phased out.


I'd be more optimistic but I think Vegas had an O/U of 5.5 wins for the Jets. So this come from behind ******** is likely the norm. I'm not dooming the guy, they were playing in a rainstorm and I wouldn't want to be judged on my first day having to be a pro in the pouring rain.



He had a gain of 14 on a run and a gain of 16 on a reception. We'll see how this plays out but I'd like to see him impose his will a little bit more. I personally didn't watch.


Were either of those gains impressive or was it a product of what was blocked?

His production would have been "fine" for a late round draft pick like a Dameon Pierce but when you're the first RB off the board and the 1.01 for some people I expect a little more.


We see RBs come in off the streets and exceed the numbers he put up last night. I want to see that 4.4 speed in action making plays and helping the offense hum along and help get that team into the redzone.

Why so hostile? I'm rooting for the guy and I literally asked for opinions from people who did watch.

In case you're not aware, there were 14 games on yesterday would be literally impossible to watch all of them. Are we not allowed to talk about players if we didn't watch the whole game? 😂


Stats work just fine. I'm an accountant. He had 23 rushing yards. 14 of those came on 1 run. So on his other 5 carries, he managed 9 yards.



I don't need to watch the game to know he struggled. I even asked directly because I don't know:

"Were either of those gains impressive or was it a product of what was blocked?"



So far nobody has come to his defense or responded to my inquiry. Instead I got bashed for not watching all 14 games (over 42 hours of content).
