I have my doubts Washington just outright cuts Robinson. I am a big JCM fan, but why put an unnecessarily-heavy load on him when you have Robinson on a team-friendly contract?
However, if Robinson ends up getting released, I'll throw Dallas in as an interesting fit. Also, depending on how things shake out in Houston, they may want to take a look.

If WAS is actually shopping Robinson right now, it means he’s a serious cut candidate and they’re trying to recoup any value before the ax falls. Do we think WAS would release him?

He's not expensive but at the same time I'm not sure Washington would agree with this assessment.
Jax is an odd choice, would replace that w/ Dallas, otherwise list makes sense. That said doubt he's going anywhere.
Yep and two contracts I'd reference to put in perspective of what I just posted above about him not being expensive but necessarily a bargain or good deal either.
Rico Dowdle who just had a far more productive season then any that Brian Robinson has had took about $900k less.
Javonte Williams got $2.5M with a chance to earn $500K more in per game incentives.
This is why if he's not on the team I think it's most likely he's cut and not traded. Also I know that Jordan Schultz who put that tweet out yesterday is very player/agent friendly, very obvious who is feeding him his info. It would behoove Robinson and his agent to get traded instead of cut because if he's cut he's going to have a hard time getting anyone to give him $3.6M so I feel like he got fed that info to put out there to try and let everyone know he was available before he got cut. That's my "guess" on this, not saying anything in this paragraph here with absolute conviction.

Like I said, it’s an effort to recoup anything before cutting him. It doesn’t mean WAS will find a trade partner. The only reason another team would offer even a 7th round pick would be that they are that high on him and don’t want to get caught in a bidding war. Highly unlikely on both accounts IMO.

Yep. Or send anything for a rb with a career rushing average of 4.1 with zero 1000 yard rushing seasons? Maybe, if the stars aligned they might get a 6th round pick? Maybe. I just doubt even that personally.

It comes down to calculus. Why compete with 30 other Teams for a commodity of marginal value, when you can give up something of little marginal value to cut out any other potential suitors.
WFT'skins would be simply trying to get something, before they get nothing (other than cap relief).
If there's compensatory pick value to be had, I don't think it would be much.
Too bad, he's a blue-collar, lunch-pail, stand up good locker room guy with a decent floor, and not much ceiling, esp in PPR.
A good NFL football player, and a good person.
I really like him as a member of the Team I root for above all others...but it wouldn't require much effort for them to find someone as good or with a higher ceiling once cuts start happening, I don't think.

I think Robinson is a good RB, who was having a solid season until he got hurt last year and wasn't really the same when he came back. I also think he was a better fit in the more zone based scheme they ran with Bienemy, whereas Kingsbury runs more of a hybrid scheme.
Robinson has shown tackle breaking ability and receiving ability. He offers little in the big play department, but as Meat Loaf once proclaimed, "2 out of 3 ain't bad"
I think Robinson would be a great fit in Chicago, allowing Ben Johnson to maybe re-enact Swift's most efficient season, where he was a COP/3rd down RB behind Jamaal Williams, and as mentioned by @menobrown Bienemy is the RB coach in Chicago. Houston also makes some sense if Mixon is worse off than we know. A sneaky fit would be San Fran, given CMC is their only healthy RB right now (who had that on their bingo card?) and Robinson's best effectiveness was in a somewhat similar run scheme.
I'd be really surprised by Dallas (just don't see those teams making a deal) or Cincinnati (I think if they want a better backup, they'd target more of a pass catcher like Gibson)
I don't know that this would be a precursor to signing McLaurin or possibly being in on Breece Hall. Truthfully, I think this would just be a bad move by Washington.

I didn't forget. I just think we all agree the rb market is well, interesting. I don't know him personally. I don't know how he is in the locker room. That could be driving this. What I do know is that the qb position is the hardest in sports to fill. It can go bad quickly. When you believe you have one, especially at a super young age, you treat it delicately. Meaning why would you weaken the rb room in this case? Keep the 3 you got. Get Terry on the field. Pray Jayden continues to improve. It's all about Jayden.

This is a team with legitimate super bowl hopes. Getting rid of your veteran RB who has been solid for them, and only costs 3.6 million this year--doesn't logic. It's awesome if JCM is this breakout star running back for them. It still seems silly not to keep Robinson for 3.6 million as a solid depth piece.

I have no problem moving away from Robinson. I've always found him to be a bit of disappointment, given his size. He occasionally showed flashes of using his size, but far too often he went down easy. Pretty sure I've seen him get knocked backwards by CBs. I don't think they'll lose anything in the backfield without him.

A playoff contender could be interested in giving a late pick since BRob doesn't have 4 years of service and is subject to waivers.

Soooo.... there are always surprising cuts each year. But additionally there are some predictable cuts closer to the fringes of each NFL roster. And teams anticipate there being a pretty large pool of players that become available after final cuts... as such I can't help but wonder if the Commanders feel there will be *other* RBs available to pick up. I still think it would make them too thin even if JCM becomes a hall of famer. They need another back for sure.
My gut instinct has been that NFL teams wouldn't want to hand the playbook to somebody new, this late in the offseason. How much value could Robinson possibly have to somebody to win-now if he doesn't even know where the salad bar is yet or how to avoid traffic on the way to the stadium in some new city and doesn't know the playbook or have any kind of chemistry with his teammates? Seems like teams would rather pick up the fringe players that get cut and give them shots on the bench. But I just have a hard time thinking of Robinson as a fringe guy even though it seems many do. Possibly including the Commanders.
But say the crazy happens and he goes to say Chicago (or Houston as my dark horse) - does he become the starter? Or just adds mud to a new committee?

I don’t see Robinson as being a level of talent that any team acquiring him just hands him the starting position no matter what their RB corps looks like right now. He’s going to have to earn his workload and there’s no guarantee of fit with a new team.

RB is more about opportunity than skill, and is one of the easiest, if not the easiest (certainly on offense) positions to plug and play, as long as the candidate is able to learn the pass pro blitz pick up calls/hot route outlets pretty quickly.
IMHO, an RB going from one team to another, late in training camp, and in this case in particular, Robinson to the Bears (Lovie Smith) isn't something I'm too concerned about.
I think he could do ok in a tandem with Swift, but as an NFL COP back with minor FF relevance only.

I feel pretty good about the WFT'skins adding someone off cuts who is more suited to the Kingsbury scheme than BRob, which would make up for a minor difference in skill/ability.

I agree it's the easiest to plug and play but I just don't think NFL teams would prefer to do it that way (if and only if we're talking about the RB being brought in to be the starter before week 1). In-season when a team has bad injuries yeah they'll grab anyone they can but I don't think a win-now team is doing this kind of thing. But I definitely agree it's a position it can be done.

Or maybe it's more complicated the Bears woulda end Swift or something? I noticed the Bears played all their starters on offense except Swift, Roschon and the rookie were all surprisingly absent. Perhaps Washington wants a RB back in the deal, Roschon maybe?

Thing about HOU is…
1. We have no idea what the Mixon injury is, but I’d be willing to bet HOU does.
2. Chubb looked pretty solid.
3. Woody Marks looks way more than pretty solid.
4. Pierce is also a very decent RB.
I don’t see them carrying more than 4 RB, and I don’t see them cutting any of the dudes above for BRob. I’m not sure I’d rather have BRob than any of those dudes.
And IIRC they still have Dare, so they’ll need make a decision there too. I’d been expecting Dare to be the odd man out with Woody looking solid.

I don't think Woody Marks moves the needle if the Texans know Mixon is going to miss a significant amount of time. They probly like Marks as a 3rd down/COP-type guy, though. Counting on Chubb to produce is a long shot, as well.

I have to think this is more Brian than WAS. Maybe he is close to Terry and sees what he is going through and decided to push for extension. Their RB room is too thin to think they would just trade or cut him without some type of initiation from him of sorts imo.
