RB Bucky Irving, TB (1 Viewer)

Bucky at RB7 per KTC. Anyone thinking about selling him? Obviously a fun player, but that's a nice profit. Say, for example, Breece Hall?

Breece Hall is a little over a year older and the RB ranked just ahead of Bucky.
I think Bucky>>Breece. Hall is a better athlete, but Irving is just a better player, I think. Way better vision and consistency. Also on a much better offense.

Dodged any competition thus far through FA and days 1&2 of the draft.

Is it wheels up for Bucky in 2025?

RB was never a position of need in TB, but then again neither was WR and they still took Egbuka in the 1st…

I hope it's wheels up for Bucky this year. This RB class is deep so they can still draft someone for depth moving forward. Remember, Bucky was a 4th round pick last year.

I'd be a little surprised if they did, as they still have Rachaad White, and they like Sean Tucker.

As a Sean Tucker owner. I strongly disagree. 😂

They love him when he's all they have left, though.

Well, yeah, they like him less than Irving/White.

Right but I think after this year, White is a FA. That's what I meant by having depth moving forward, if in fact White does leave..

I haven't read every post but has anyone thrown out the word "collusion" yet?

The league might want to be a little careful here.
I kinda doubt they got together for a meeting to talk about not drafting this guy.
Because the league never colludes?

You're probably right but this is absurd. They'll draft other kids with all sorts of attitude and off field issues but Shedeur is worse than usual? I'm suspect.
Maybe…just maybe, he’s not a very good prospect.
He was never the prospect his father made him out to be but let's not go overboard.

Kid produced monster numbers, with a limited supporting cast (outside of Hunter of course) against good competition with more media scrutiny than any player in the country. He's an NFL caliber talent.

It is easy make the arguments for Dart, Slough & Milroe ahead of him based on production/measurables even without the Sanders name attached but, Dillon Gabriel? All respect in the world to him but, no.

As a Rachaad dynasty owner I’m pretty content that this is his only competition that was added.
How about now ?
I mean I was wrong. Ever been wrong about a player in fantasy football?

Of course we are all wrong at times. I am wrong a lot. I just find past takes interesting.

Sure. I doubt too many folks had Bucky Irving being a top-7 dynasty running back after his rookie season. Are you able to go back in time and find that take for us?

.@Buccaneers @BuckyIrving what a rookie campaign. Always making the first guy miss. 36 plays of 12+ yards and just getting started. #BaldysBreakdowns

For a 4.5 40 the kid can move. His acceleration and ability to weave at speed is unreal!

I'm a buyer and I get started early, no time to wait
They protect him in practice and as @travdogg has pointed out this guy was out there over 70% of the snaps when it counted most, down the stretch last year
Slice it however you want, Bucky has the best chance to be this year's Gibbs and vault into a solid 1st round pick in '26
Health is always priority one but assuming he stays on the field and with a high catch % higher than almost any other rookie RB and the Bucs down a starting WR...

Bypass him at your own risk, the Bucs OL is tight and its strong on the IOL until Whirfs returns at LT
Bucs might have to run the ball between the Tackles for a few weeks, add to that a need for the short passing game, Irving should come out of the box HOT!
But I'm biased

I have him in both of my struggle leagues. One is paired with Brown. 😂

I’m not sure what quantifiable traits he has other than that the team really trust him. He’s like Kyren too. Nobody quite understands how much these guys are so trusted and valuable but the coaches certainly do.

I feel like everywhere I have these guys I have to roster their understudy because they’re not overwhelming talents on the surface

Big match up with Penix now the starting shiny new toy.
He either beats he Bucs routinely or he doesn't, the 2nd side doesn't build him a long career
Basically I say all that to say I would find other games to zone in on week 1
I haven't looked yet but this would nt be the game I hitch my wagon to for Survivor

my old friend, I should have set the table better. in this case- I need a pick straight on this game, why I am asking. I get it though not an easy one at all

Falcons have had the Bucs number a bit in the Baker era. He’s 1-3 against them. 1-1 on the road.

This will be Penix’ first start against them and only his 4th in the NFL? He’s 1-2 and a 58% passer so far.

Think it has to be advantage Bucs at QB.

Atlanta has London and Bijan but not much else and I think Mooney has been hurt? Don’t know what his status will be. Mike, Egbuka, McMillan, Bucky and Rachaad. Advantage Bucs.

Hard to say in defense. Bucs are healthy finally for the most part and weren’t last year. Added Reddick.

Falcons added some early pick rookies but lost so many of their vets. Could be some coverage busts against all these threats.

Anyway. Bucs seem better on paper so Falcons probably win.

Bucky owners - who is the better handcuff target between White and Tucker? Personally I think White is cooked and have always been impressed with Tucker in his limited game action. Thoughts?

Interesting question and is it a handcuff situation? Like what % of touches do we see Bucky getting? He’s the other chunk breakdown.

In dynasty i roster Bucky and Tucker. No interest in White. I believe Tucker to be the superior runner to white, and if Bucky were ever to go down? He would be the guy.

White would stay in his role.

I agree with this take. White is locked in to the RB2 role and getting his 25-33% of the carries as the coaching staff sees fit. But if god forbid something happens to Bucky, then Tucker leapfrogs into the 1 spot and White stays where he is.

From what I have seen Tucker is better than White and Bucky. Yeah I said it. Doesn't mean much b/c the Tampa coaches disagree, until they don't. Would not be the first time the backup was actually the superior player and certainly won't be the last. Still, the coaches are the gate keepers and the key masters, and Bucky is the clear junk yard dog going into 2025. Until he isn't, of course.

Not sure why I’m scared of this guy at ADP. Some of his games last year were truly boom bust and I know he’s the starter now. Just concerned with offense downgrades and his td production was ok for the amount of yards he had. Kinda has some Jamaal Charles stat lines, or one could say he’s a diet version of Gibbs.

Tend to agree with this with one caveat.

Bucky and White are both better receivers than Tucker. In that they’re much more than just a check down option. They can be weapons in the passing game.

Tucker is a screen/checkdown only type of receiving back. Which is fine. He can catch it. But, I think that limits his upside even if there’s an injury to one of them.

I’ll agree Tucker is the most explosive runner but he needs a hole.

Bucky just has so much make you miss and tackle breaking ability that he’s always getting positive yardage with just a crease.

Anyway, gonna need them all with so many receivers hurt already.

Bucky Irving on RBs taken ahead of him in last year's draft:

"I kept that anger and used it as motivation. I was pissed. I was waiting for three days, so just being there and seeing everybody get drafted, it lit a fire in me. Because I basically talked to all of those teams and then seeing how they viewed me, anytime I get a chance to go against any of those teams, I punish them for not calling my name on draft night."

The ARSB method can be a great motivator for some. He fell to me in the late second paired with an elite RB and feel he can have another one of those electric efficient seasons.

Much like Amon-Ra, the slide didn't make sense at the time, and if Irving constantly has that chip on his shoulder too, it will only look even worse with age. Really excited about this guy, gives me so many LeSean McCoy vibes. Could absolutely be a top-5 RB this year, especially given TB is the only team in the NFC South that plays defense.

Tampa being projected like they are the greatest show on turf.

They didn't slide unexpectedly or wrongly. Their testing was so bad and piss-poor that they were drafted by teams who took a weird gamble that maybe they were the one in ten thousand athletes that could stick in the NFL with those atrocious numbers.

They were drafted for depth and they're all grit and miracles. Good for them. But that would seem to be revision.

Well, I thought they both were day 2 picks on tape, who the league overcorrected on based on testing. Amon-Ra didn't even test badly, he just ran a 4.51 40, every other test he was close to the top of and was the very top in bench.

Oh, this has been a contentious issue before and isn't reported correctly. 4.51 was an unofficial time. He ran a 4.61 at his pro day, which the NFL used as its combine that year. I've actually argued this before with a guy in the Jalen Coker thread. AI is wrong and NFL Draft Buzz is also. Player Profiler has him at 4.66, and he tested a 4.61 according to almost every source that reported his official time. There's a journalistic thing going on, too. The reporters from the LA and New York Times have him at 4.61.

This has actually gotten worse in the intervening months. People need to be wary of AI and other blog news sources. They're not right, and if you read reputable draft coverage at the time everybody is focused on that lack of speed.

Anyway, I was sitting on my couch when they read his pro day results over the air on KTLA and my heart sort of sunk for him because it was a 4.61. In further garbage, Wikipedia says he ran a 4.59 and the source they link to says 4.61.

.

This the New York Times:

"This is what you saw: That 40-yard dash time of 4.61. St. Brown ran the 40 at USC’s pro day in the spring of 2021, and many NFL stopwatches had him at that time. At the combine that year, 48 receivers ran faster."

Where they interview a guy from the LA Times.

You know what's amazing is that one place reports a 4.51 and AI and these other **** sites report it. Even sites that get the correct 4.61 time are just reporting utter crap. Check this site. It says Amon-Ra St. Brown ran a 4.61 at the combine. Here's the problem. There was no combine that year. It was held as pro days for each individual school at their school!

****ing crazy. AI is freaking nuts. Anyway, I've wasted so much time and energy on this stupid thing. He's fine.
