According to CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco, Carlos Hyde "appears set" as the 49ers' starting running back.
Maiocco cautions with a "right now," but he believes Hyde has impressed the coaching staff and front office enough to enter Week 1 as the first-team runner. Maiocco believes Tim Hightower is the clear-cut No. 2 back, ahead of rookie Joe Williams and special teamer Kapri Bibbs. In Kyle Shanahan's scheme, Hyde continues to offer value-pick upside in the fifth and sixth rounds.
