RB Chris Brown (1 Viewer)

If the Titans think that is a major problem they would probably not have invested money in him.
Have you seen the Titan's track record of recent RBs they have invested money and draft picks in?
Travis Henry down?
No, he was released by TEN....another great move
So you obviously agree that the pick they spent on Henry was a good move...Way to undermine your own point
LOL, way to change the subject RE: Travis....Way to put words in my mouth. Thinking he is undervalued from a FF persepctive and his NFL draft value are different things.I have never claimed C-Hen was a 2nd round bargain or steal and have only spoke to his value when LenDale was the only other RB in TEN. C-Hen will still get his chance to shine IMO. Brown's turf toe is going to act up at some point and LenDale is never going to "get it".

Yup. That being said you can get him cheap, hope for a good game or two out of the box, and then sell him.

 Guy is already overvalueing Brown, your probably better off letting him have him. Thats the guy you would want to trade him to anyway.

Brown's the clear starter here. I have no idea what sites like Sportsline are thinking. Protect your best asset in Young and the best way to do it is with the proven veteran.

White didn't 'get it' after dropping to round 2 (or was it 3?). He didn't 'get it' when more or less handed the job in this case. Them acquiring Brown isn't going to change anything. White runs one thing well...his mouth (making excuses and shoveling food in it)

I really like Brown as a RB3 this season, but no way do I give up Evans for him.

Good move by Tenn to resign Brown. I think they realize the mistake they made drafting Henry, and what can be said about White, has been. Brown should win the job from day one.

1st off... can we change the title. Everytime I see it bump; I think he just got resigned by the titans.

2nd... Herny is going to own this job.

Since taking over as Titans running back coach last week, Earnest Byner has chatted with LenDale White on the phone but managed only to leave a message for Chris Henry. So when the team officially introduced Byner on Monday, he took the opportunity to leave another message."Chris, if you're out there, need to hear from you," he said with a laugh.

Any rumors about where Chris Brown will be this year?
supposedly going to meet with the Texans...http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...=NFL&id=199
790 in Houston is reporting that the talks are "beyond preliminary" with the Texans.
I think it would be a smart move by the Texans. They seem to do fine running the ball with a cast of retreads, and are building the rest of their team.Man, that Mario Williams pick looks better by the day.

I'd like this move too. I've always thought Brown was a pretty decent back and would make a solid fill-in. Signing him would allow the Texans to pencil in Chris Taylor in the #3 spot and possibly lessen the urgency to draft a RB. Then Kubiak could ride the hot hand between Green, Brown, and/or Taylor each week without counting on one too heavily. Green and Brown sure as hell aren't the most durable backs, and Taylor's coming off an injury, so it's risky but I think it could work. Darius Walker could possibly stick around as the 4th, and I suppose Ron Dayne would be kept on speed-dial if we got into a pinch. Not the most attractive backfield for sure (and misery for fantasy purposes), but it would allow us to fill other areas of need with our draft choices. If Dayne can have a solid season in this scheme then I'm cautiously optimistic that trio can also have success, especially with Alex Gibbs coming over to coach our OL. Hopefully we'll have another good draft and the team will become a contender in the near future, then we can draft our RB of the future and let him run behind a better OL and have a better supporting cast....

I would almost bet money that we end up with Hart in the 4-5th rounds. Or maybe even Chad Simpson(I know what you're saying) but check this guy out and you'll see why he would fit our system perfectly and so would Hart.

Report: Chris Brown expected to join Texans NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports a deal between the Texans and free agent Chris Browns is expected to be completed by Thursday.

It sounds like Houston may be offering Brown a multi-year deal, but we won't know for sure until the contract is finalized. The Texans seem set to use a running back by committee approach in 2008. Mar. 12 - 10:47 pm et

Chris Brown has gotta be one of the more talented mediocre RBs Ive ever seen in my life. Great stiff arm. Fluid moves. Power. Speed. Enigmatic to an extent. He needs to be playing in Denver.

I thought Walker looked pretty good last year and was more assured of the backup to Green with Dayne gone. Now with Brown coming in, it looks like competition between Green (if healthy) brown (if Healthy) and walker. Why all of a sudden is Chris Taylor the #3?

Given Kubiak/Gibbs' former ties to Denver, I see Brown's signing in Houston as being almost the same thing. I have to believe those guys use the same 'one cut and go' running game that Brown would have in Denver. This signing would be a huge opportunity for Brown IMHO, perhaps even better than landing in a quagmire like Denver. :goodposting:

Well, Taylor did beat out Walker in TC in 2007 and Kubiak is in wub with him ...I would bet dollars to donuts Taylor is over Walker in their eyes ... now whether Taylor makes the club if they draft a rook depends in large part on whether they keep Green in my eyes ... or maybe if they like Taylor as a backup at FB also ...

Rotoworld:Texans agreed to terms with Chris Brown on a two-year, $3.6 million contract with an $800,000 signing bonus..We're not huge fans of Brown because he wears down easily, but Houston is a perfect landing spot for him. He could hit long runs in a zone scheme, and only Ahman Green, Chris Taylor, and Darius Walker are in his way. We expect a committee approach, and Brown has a good chance to find a role. Houston seems less likely to take a running back early in the draft now. Mar. 13 - 5:34 pm et
This is about the best possible situation (outside Denver) that CB owners could ask for. At least with Ahman's age and injury history there's a decent chance for him to get playing time.

Yep. I don't think it means that Brown is a top 24 RB, but he's definitely a 'hold' now. If he is ever named as a starter, whether through an injury or not, I'd feel comfortable starting him.

That is a VERY cap friendly contract, so much so that they could cut him today and not worry about it. This would appear to guarantee Brown a tryout in camp and nothing more. It's up to him to make the roster.

:goodposting: CB is fighting for a roster spot. Like many people I see the talent but the injuries are killer.

I totally disagree. Why would they burn an $800k signing bonus? He is a very good bet to make the final roster.

They'd only be "burning" it if they expected to cut him. $800k is the price for a look at a former 1000 yard rusher.

All i know is i'm signing him for 2 bucks in the football guy weekly contest. He's good for 1 huge game a year. Perfect in a league where you dont have to pick starters and can get him for bus fair.

I would agree. I had forgotten Taylor has also worked some at FB. Might be a good way to keep 4 RBs (considering Green and Brown aren't the most durable) and get rid of a virtually worthless Jameel Cook as a backup fullback. Then Walker or a rookie draft pick could also stick around. I seem to recall TE Joel Dreesen playing FB a little as well last TC, so that would give us some flexibility behind Vonta Leach...

what is ahman green's contract status?? cap hit if he were cut? I think he signed a two year deal last year so it may be minimal.

I could see Green cut if the cap hit was low, Brown and the rookie rb (1st or 2nd rd?) competing, taylor is the RB/FB and Walker is the 3rd back.

He signed a 4 year deal, that has one of those structure which make it effectively a two year deal. I have the actual numbers somewhere give me a few.

I admit my ignorance... what's Ron Dayne's status?
I think he is crying and eating a whole carton of ice cream ...Seriously I have not heard of interest from even one team. No visits, rumors, anything.Color me surprised. Seriously.

from houstonprofootball.com4 years, $22 million, $6.5 million guaranteed..and the cap ramifications"Green was given a $5MM signing bonus across a 4-yr contract, so of that only one season (25%) has been accrued. If cut, there will be at least $3.75MM of dead money for which the team will need to account. Green also received some other bonuses - including a $1.5MM one this season, maybe as a roster bonus - and I'm not sure whether there are other bonuses the team might be on the hook for in 2008 or in future years if they delay his release. If Green's dead money is just $3.75MM, the team could cut him before June 1 and still designate that only $1.25MM of that amount hits the 2008 cap (the remaining amount hits 2009)."

^ for any updated opinions regarding Brown in HOU. Ahman's health is shaky @ best, though the same can be said for CB. I'm looking @ either hanging on to Brown in a dynasty league for bench w/ upside or tossing him back into the FA pool.

Any chance there's a RBBC brewing in HOU where CB might see 10-15 carries/game?
