RB D’Andre Swift, CHI (2 Viewers)

Yeah seems like an anonymous tip came in saying 2 men tried to rob Swift on July 4th and Swift shot and killed one of the robbers. Philly PD have said Swift is not being investigated for any crimes.
On Twitter: HC Dan Campbell  "I love it. Those are the guys we want here. Not a murderer, but someone who people believe could potentially bodybag someone. That's the energy we want to give off."

He did not, that was someone on twitters attempt at a joke.

I woke up this morning and just heard about this.  Is everyone looking at this as nothing?  Maybe he didn't commit murder, but was he involved in some way?  I mean just being there could land him on the commish exempt list, couldn't it?

I could have missed it but I didn’t see anyone major take this rumor as anything serious or even mention it.

Lions RB D'Andre Swift was not listed on Friday's injury report, suggesting he will play in Week 1 against the 49ers.

Swift has been practicing fully ahead of Week 1, so this just serves as confirmation that the second-year back will be active against San Francisco. Lions RBs coach Duce Staley said that Swift may not even have any workload restrictions. Jamaal Williams will get some touches – especially on early downs – but Swift appears healthy for the season opener.

I am feeling... less excited about my Swift/Hockenson tandem. Perhaps loading up on Lions was less optimal than I thought.
Think Mel Farr / Charlie Sanders from 1970 and you should feel better.

For those of you who don't get it, that is a compliment to Farr and Sanders.  Meaning, don't feel bad about having Swift / Hock.

Listen, I'm just a simple caveman who fell into a frozen crevasse.   It sounds like the rumors are complete trash.   Also, your world frightens and confuses me.

An image of some kind of document leaked that might show that Swift is a person of interest in an active investigation(?)    The Philadelphia PD tweeted that they're investigating the validity of the image, who leaked it, and that it pertains to an active investigation.    If that's the case, then isn't there at least a small chance we have a problem?

I'll probably be the joke of my fantasy league, but I picked up Jermar Jefferson just to sit on him for the next 24-48 hours to make sure something crazy doesn't break.   I actually liked him as a deep stash just on the chance of an injury.   If there's a 5% chance of something going sideways, I'm never fast enough to beat my leaguemates to the wire.

Agree it seems thin.  But best to have it on the radar for all the owners, including me....

This is why I hate twitter.  No, a random person you know nothing about tweeting about something they know nothing about - is not worthy of anyone's radar.

In the past whenever I’d draft a Lion or a Jag I’d say, “can never have enough [lions/jags] in this game”.

that said, they were mostly defensive players. This year I managed to avoid any Lions.

Swift was tempting, but I picked an already banged up Sanders last year & learned my lesson.

NFL Week 1 fantasy football questions and answers: 32 reporters give advice on Julio Jones, Ravens running backs, more

Excerpt:

What will the touch split look like between D'Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams?

It's no secret that D'Andre Swift is expected to be the guy for Detroit at running back, with Jamaal Williams set to thrive as the No. 2 back in a strong complementary role. Throughout training camp, Swift was hampered with a groin injury that kept him out of preseason action and many practices, but he has been a full participant in practice this week and should see the bulk of the touches during the season opener as he is moving with no limitations. "I'm very bad at counting reps," said Lions running backs coach Duce Staley. "If he's out there being productive, 'What number is it Duce? Three.' It could be play 49, I don't know how to take him off." -- Eric Woodyard

MLive's Kyle Meinke reports D’Andre Swift is expected to play in Week 1 against the 49ers.

Swift was removed from Detroit's injury report after a full week of practice. Lions coach Dan Campbell declined comment at a Thursday press conference after Swift's name appeared in an anonymous tip connecting him to an alleged homicide of a Philadelphia-based rap artist. NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported Swift is "not under investigation" and there's "no indication" he's a suspect. Swift missed the entire preseason and most of training camp with a core muscle injury. The second-year back is a risky Week 1 play against a 49ers defense that allowed the seventh-fewest rushing yards per game last season.

Thanks for info.

Ugh. Just ugh...hamstring and then this (positive news?). Are the 11 other league members geniuses and I am a moron for being happy he was still there at 5.10 a week ago?

Well he's in my lineup but not feeling great about it.  Expecting the Lions to be down most of the game which  will hopefully contribute to several catches.

Swapped them in the only league I have either
I have both and don’t feel comfortable starting either of them now. Swift may actually get more play if the Lions presumably can’t run the ball on the Niners, but hard to count on that.

Well, so much for Williams "carrying the load" so far -- he has more rushing yards and 5 carries, but Swift also has 4 carries and 4 targets so far.

Thanks idiots

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports D'Andre Swift is "expected to have a limited role" in Week 1 against the 49ers.

Jamaal Williams will start and "carry the load" after Swift missed most of training camp with a core muscle injury. The Lions plan to use Swift on third downs and in passing situations. Swift was already in a shy away matchup against the 49ers' run defense. Playing on a snap count with a questionable workload downgrades him to a low-end RB3.

I’m guessing Pelissero’s name was crossed off a lot of Christmas lists.

19 total touches. Had him in my lineup all week. Changed him 5 minutes before because of that stupid report. These reporters don't know crap.

Same here.  Knew better but bodes well for future although Williams got a ton of run.

Yes - can’t expect both of them to put up 20+ fantasy points each week. This week was just weird versus a stout Niners D. Most weeks it may be a guessing game which RB performs better.

D'Andre Swift rushed 11 times for 39 yards and caught 8-of-11 targets for 65 yards and one touchdown in the Lions' Week 1 loss to the 49ers.

The 11 targets led the team, narrowly edging out T.J. Hockenson, who 8-97-1 on 10 targets. Swift also out-carried Jamaal Williams 11-9, though Williams got the start and turned his carries into 54 yards and one touchdown. Swift's score came on a 43-yard screen with the Lions down 28 points at the time. There was one guy between him and the end zone, and Swift made him miss. The workload was promising for Swift moving forward after a summer that was ruined by a groin issue. Swift will be a reliable RB2 next week against the Packers with Jared Goff loving his tight ends and running backs in the passing game.
