I have no idea why anybody would have started Mattison unless they literally had nothing else. Not that one could have expected this monster game from Cook, but Mattison did exactly what he was supposed to do.Condolences to those who started Mattison.
Stud with non lower body injury against poor run d, you have to start the stud.
Glad I started him and sat Mattison.
Yeah..had to with bye weeks and injury in one league. He was my RB 2 with Najee. (Sanders, Stevenson, on byes and Swift hurt). Thankfully Harris had a big night.I have no idea why anybody would have started Mattison unless they literally had nothing else. It’s week one of the playoffs where I have him. In the 6 seed (two conferences) playing the 3, so yeah I’m happy with his game.Saw that Cook was off the injury report and started him. You have to. Even if you have Matison. I'll happily take those 35 points. If you didn't start him, that's on you.
I strongly considered it. Or both. Mostly just not trusting the injury.Hopefully they came to their senses but a few people here were posting yesterday morning they would start Mattison if both were active.
I think the Darrell Henderson game from last week was messing with some people's heads.
FWIW I used to play pick up games in the park with a guy who had his shoulder pop out of place on two different occasions while we were playing. It obviously hurt like hell and he would go to the sideline wincing and screaming about the pain. This is only if you believe the team was being honest that the injury was really that severe.
If he plays, he wasnt really hurt if he comes out of the game safe. Anyone knows this isnt about being a doctor, its just comment sense. I dislocated a shoulder. You are not playing professional football next week no matter what you ingest to stay alive and not feel pain.
This isnt Lethal Weapon, you are not just putting your shoulder back in and going to arrest people by running 25 mph.
While Garrett Bradbury is not good at pass blocking having him in the line up does seem to improve the Vikings run blocking.Yeah, Adrian Peterson would be over 25 yards with those lanes.
Just a little bit? That and the Steelers seem to have been struggling against the run as well.
They do seem to be a good match up for a RB based on this.Just a little bit?
From Weeks 10 to 14....lead RBs against PIT
Week 10 - Swift 33-130-0, 3-5-0
Week 11 - Ekeler 11-50-2, 6-67-2
Week 12 Mixon 28-165-2 4-4-0
Week 13 Freeman 14-52-1, 5-45-0
Week 14 Cook 27-205-2, 1-17
Total of 740 yards, 19 receptions, and 9 TDs. That's laughable how bad that is.
Dalvin Cook rushed 28 times for 89 yards in the Vikings' Week 15 win over the Bears.
He caught just two passes for two yards on three targets in the pass game. After exploding for 27-205-2 last Thursday night against the Steelers, this was a big step back for Cook in the first week of the fantasy playoffs. He still handled 28-of-31 backfield carries, ceding just three to Kene Nwangwu. Cook's longest run went for just 10 yards, however, as the Vikings totaled 193 yards of offense on the night. Cook will try to rebound next week in a potential shootout with the Rams.

Cook was running hard but the Chi Def was dominating the LOS. He had nowhere to go. Looking for a big rebound next week.
And with Mattison just coming off the Covid list, we know he’s a guaranteed go assuming he is healthy.Added to Covid list.
Playing Cook owner in the semis and I have Mattison. Giddy up.
Merry ChristmasAdded to Covid list.

Cook is not vaxxed so how exactly are the 10 days counted for the mandatory quarantine? Can he come back for week 17, would be Jan 2nd.
No, he can't. Sunday is within the 5 days. Vikings OC Kubiak has even confirmed he is out for this Sunday (week 16.)I had made a post about same time as you which I've since edited because I got it wrong. He can actually make it back for week 16.
I think he meant week 17 eligible. Obviously Cook is out this Sunday (week 16).No, he can't. Sunday is within the 5 days. Vikings OC Kubiak has even confirmed he is out for this Sunday (week 16.)
Yes, that’s what I meant, having a hard time accepting week 17 is not like years pastI think he meant week 17 eligible. Obviously Cook is out this Sunday (week 16).
Not sure if that info was widely available, but it definitely should be emphasized as a differentiator for 1st/early picks if we can find that out.My fault for not realizing he was not vaccinated before the draft. I realize that being vaccinated is not a guarantee you won't get Covid but not being vaccinated is like asking for it.
I remember a few people back in August discussing passing on unvaxxed players (think it was Hopkins at the time) and some others were like oh come on that’s nuts…those folks were definitely spot on about that.My fault for not realizing he was not vaccinated before the draft. Tyrek Hill and Kelce both vaxed and they will probably miss 1 game, same as Cook. Drafting based on being vaxed was overthinking.I remember a few people back in August discussing passing on unvaxxed players (think it was Hopkins at the time) and some others were like oh come on that’s nuts…those folks were definitely spot on about that.
But they could test out, even tomorrow. They likely won’t but they could. Unvaxxed players have no shot of doing so and are way more likely to test positive. It’s all a percentage play.Tyrek Hill and Kelce both vaxed and they will probably miss 1 game, same as Cook. Drafting based on being vaxed was overthinking.
I think it's a fair tiebreaker between players, like injury history and their fantasy playoff schedule. You wouldn't make a decision based on that alone, but it's not wise to ignore it entirely (if you know their status).Tyrek Hill and Kelce both vaxed and they will probably miss 1 game, same as Cook. Vikings activated RB Dalvin Cook from the reserve/Covid list on Wednesday.
Cook is a beneficiary of the NFL's new COVID-19 protocols that allow all players to return after a 5-day isolation period. Previously in doubt for Week 17, Cook will now start in an important divisional game against the Packers. With Adam Thielen (ankle) now out for the year, the Vikings offense is down to Justin Jefferson and Cook as their primary playmakers. Minnesota is likely to lean on Cook heavily, and he profiles as a high-end RB1 in Green Bay.

Unless you hear 5 minutes to kickoff that like T. Hill, D. Cook has been "exhausted" and may not play a full compliment of snaps.I guess no need to hold onto Mattison now.
Dalvin Cook (illness) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.
He should draw the start against the Packers and be near the RB1 range in his return after missing one game on the COVID-19 list. Alexander Mattison will be relegated to the backup role again. Cook rushed 22 times for 86 yards and a touchdown in Week 11 against the Packers, adding a two-point conversion and three catches for 29 yards as well.

Needed 5 points from him last night to win the championship and got 2.8.
Not all his fault but a very disappointing end to a mostly dismal season.
Needed him to stay within 18 pts of Jones/Dillon. Ended up losing by 12. I could tell by the first drive it wasn't going to happenGodsbrother said:Needed 5 points from him last night to win the championship and got 2.8.

DALVIN COOK RB, MINNESOTA VIKINGS
Vikings offensive coordinator Wes Phillips said the team wouldn't force the running game in 2022.
“I think any coordinator who’s good will tell you the running game is important, but I would say that winning the game is most important," said Phillips, who won't have play-calling duties but will have an outsized role in game planning. "So the running game is certainly important, and you always feel better about staying on track, not being in second and longs, third and longs where more of your playbook is available." It's music to the ears of fantasy managers frustrated by the run-focused stubbornness of the Mike Zimmer regime -- an approach that sometimes limited Justin Jefferson's opportunity. Dalvin Cook, a capable pass catcher out of the backfield, shouldn't be negatively impacted by a more balanced Minnesota offense in 2022. The Vikings in 2021 had the 12th lowest pass rate over expected. Under Zimmer, the Vikings were among the run heaviest teams on second and long. A more aggressive, analytics-based offensive approach could unlock Jefferson's monster upside, and take Kirk Cousins along for the ride.

The Athletic's Chad Graff noted that Dalvin Cook has lined up in bunch wide receiver sets in OTAs.
Cross off "running back lines up at wide receiver" on your offseason bingo card. Graff described Cook lining up in bunch receiver sets in multiple formations, but conceded that it could just "be something the new staff is tinkering with in May." Still, new head coach Kevin O’Connell is expected to shift the offense toward the pass, and involving Cook in that transition makes a lot of sense. Cook's status remains somewhat up in the air, with a suspension remaining possible. However, his arrow is pointing up in the new offense. Increased passing should lead to more scoring and check down opportunities, which could lead to a big year for Cook no matter where he lines up.
